      I switched to the cup plus the underwear after watching these videos about 6 months ago. It's saved me so much money, so much stress (the only thing I get stressed about is washing the underwear as I don't have a washing machine in my flat yet) and I feel so much more comfortable. I also love not worrying about running out too. Being caught short was the worst

    • @Lolly74079
      @Lolly74079 Před 2 lety +11

      @Liz Gabriel Period underwear might be a good idea. Black pairs fully pass as regular underwear with a slightly different fabric so they can be thrown in with regular dark washing (at least my Primark ones can). If you buy them from a physical store like Primark, you can easily buy them while out with friends instead of having a parcel intercepted. You can also pair either a light or heavy flow pair with pads on heavy days if you want to reduce waste but also need to keep appearances up if she buys supplies for you.
      EDIT: You're not supposed to use fabric conditioner with period underwear, I think it either wears them down quicker or ruins them. I'm not really sure which
      I'm really sorry you had that awful reaction. I know some people don't like the idea of the reuseable pads due them finding the idea of having to store the used pads in their bag (one of the reasons I didn't pick them actually) or rinsing them, but calling another person disgusting for using them is completely different and horrible.

    • @lydiajoystuart4082
      @lydiajoystuart4082 Před 2 lety +5

      @Liz Gabriel I would also recommend period underwear. I haven't used them personally but my female best friend swears by them. They are easier to use and I believe can be washed in a washing machine. There are a couple different brands out there. I'd encourage you to do some research.
      I am so sorry to hear that you were having such a bad experience. That's really tough. It's hard to hear criticism from loved ones. Also don't be discouraged about not being able to use a cup I’ve never worn a tampon and I tried to make the cup work and it didnt work.

      @@Lolly74079 I recently watched a tik tok saying if you can help it, don't use fabric conditioner/softener ever. But more importantly never to use it with workout and other clothes because it takes away the absorbing aspect which is definitely why you wouldn't want to use it with a period product.

    Some of the supermarkets in my town started making bundles of fruit or veggies that are very ripe, a bit beaten up or have a few brown spots, they put them in a bag in the reduced section and it's a good adea i think, better than doing nothing. You can get a huge bag of mixed fruit or veggies at a low price, and i use the fruits that are very ripe in baking or chop them up and freeze them. Same for veggies, if I don't use them up i freeze them. My country is quite behind on the sustainability stuff, we're barely just figuring out sorting our trash. But at least it's a step.

You should NOT get PREGNANT or get someone PREGNANT if you truly worry about the ENVIRONMENT or CLIMATE CHANGE. Use Daily birth control pills and protection. Saying you use paper straws or only have 1 child or drive an Electric car shows you are not being true and essentially a FAKE Environmentalist or nature lover. I have this new passion for sustainable living and living alongside the environment and not against it. In the beginning, I was so negative about living an eco-friendly life as I always believed, and was told, that I am just one person and what I do will not change anything. But after watching both this channel and your vlogging channel I love the way you and madison live your life and has sparked this fire inside of me to not care about other peoples opinions and just live life the way I want to.

    Instead of a bidet, I have a sprayer (imagine what you have on your kitchen sink to spray things off) that attaches to the tank. It's pretty common in other countries (e.g. countries in northern Africa) in public toilets especially. I got it online, but you can also DIY by stopping at a local hardware store. It's awesome because you can control the spray and flow very easily. So that's another option in case bidets have too little control for you haha.
    I also use "family cloth" instead of TP. And it's pretty hygienic considering I spray off beforehand. So I highly recommend that as well. :)

    Recently made a huge Earthhero order on Black Friday so I could stock up on sustainable things so I have sustainable options on hand for when I run out of the non sustainable - like dishwasher pods and counter cleaner and sponges. I also switched to organic cotton panty liners (I’m the woman that needs a panty liner almost daily because (sigh) woman things…) and I’ve had them about a month. GAME CHANGER in terms of waste. In LOVE.

    For the toothpaste tube, I don't quite understand how they are recyclable. In my area, you are supposed to clean out the containers before recycling. Is that possible with a fully aluminum toothpaste tube? How does one do that? I'm asking to know, I try to recycle as much as possible, so I am open to it. I'm just curious how that actually is supposed to work with a toothpaste tube.

    I got my first set of Thinx a couple months ago and I put them to the test. I have a pretty heavy period especially for the first 3-4 days. I tried out their super absorbant options and I tried them with no back up and it was amazing. The only style that didn’t work for me as well as I hoped were the boyshort ones and that’s because the cut didn’t work well for me and cause some leaking. Other than that loved it.
    Also love the plaine Items. I’ve gotten their small hand lotions and spray hand sanitizer and they smell amazing. I like minty scents and they are great.

A lot, yes, but I bring everything home and wash it at night and refill for work the next day. I NEVER take disposables. This has been a financial and ethical game changer for me.
