      I've thought about doing it in place but if the selector rod falls out then it's an arse to get back in with the box in. Also I have visions of the roll pin flying off somewhere in the box.

    Great work Steve, is certainly a big job. Having the vehicle up on a hoist is a game changer for tranny jobs. Last one I did was my old Discovery D1, had to pull the gearbox/transfer case to do the clutch, bugger of a job working off the floor on my back, deffo no fun.

      Anything is possible on your driveway mate. I did a V8 engine swap on my Cortina on the road out the front of my house. Didn't even have a driveway! I'll keep the content coming but it does depend on what jobs I get in. Most of the time it's just routine servicing.

    You could look into compiling a list of tools for each job and via your referral link on say amazon or directly on your website, selling them. With many people working from home these days, most people like to fix their cars. You could make a list of ideal and alternative tools.
    For example, where the ideal tool is a hydraulic industrial lift, you can list that, but the alternative tool will be a jack (x4) to raise the car and fix something underneath.

    • @andytownsend1642
      @andytownsend1642 Před rokem +1

      I think doing the video is enough work on it's own. If you are capable of doing the job yourself then you should be able to work out what tools (and their alternative) are required.

      Unless anywhere else is different, it's always been the same at every garage I've worked at, I do the whole job. It's very rare that a part will be removed and sent away elsewhere for repair. Unless it's something specialised like an ECU repair.

      No parts needed for stuck in 1st. The selector rod has over shot the gate. Strip the gearbox to get it back in. You then need to modify the big detent, file a flat on either side to let any oil flow past it.
