Patrick (my middle name) as a pal of Paul, know Paul is a great guy and an artist. KISS, arguably, is pure art, which is its purpose. drjimxlaw64@gmail.com
I was never really into the Kiss, i respect what they did, i despite Simmons, but hearing this makes me think a lot. It is like he is talking about me. You realise , even people like Paul Stanley have problems like you have, despite having millions of money, millions of followers, and that is something Gene Simmons is not able to admit. He cant go down deep inside that like Stanley.. Who i consider very inteligent person on many levels.
Gene Simmons is an intellectual and emotional buffoon. From this book he I feel that since day one Gene has simply been an egotistical dumbass incapable of doing anything, he is very, very lucky to have met Paul Stanley. Genes best trait is when a marketing expert says "we should do this" Gene says "yes."
I personally think, that both Paul and Gene are very intelligent people. And, deep down, they are both nice people, too. The difference I see is, that Paul is more open emotionally, and tries to share his emotions, his problems, his uncertainty even with his fans. While Gene plays a game, the person he pretends to be for the public has never existed. However, lately he's been able to take off that pose and mask somewhat, and be really himself... at least at times.
"i wanted the crowd to love me, because i haven't learned to love myself..." i dont know, but that gets me you know, like i know what is like being the person that the society wants you to be, and not the person who you want to be (sorry for my bad english)
Such a beautiful and honest portrayal not only of what celebrity attitude brings - "I couldn't be comfortable outside the controlled situation of being the star child" - but also, of the kind of mind which develops into an artist like him. Most people can just drop the ball and "hangout" - but Paul was wired to have cosmic conversations and skip the mundane aspects of reality. If he didn't feel like a radiant shooting star, then he didn't feel comfortable - for better or worse. I can relate. Its great that he can be so objective about himself as he developed in his life. I think someone truly arrogant could not be this critical about himself in the past.
This is way Paul is the man! He isn't perfect and without directly saying it he is admitting this. Sure he has a 100 million income, but he is only human and has the same hangups and fears/insecurities most of us non multimillionaires have.
It's a good thing that Paul didn't get addicted to dope . His journey through life , forget that he is a successful musician/performer, is typical of millions of people.
As a 54 yr old "kid from brooklyn" sitting on a toilet bowl in a Pompeii b&b listening to his story I can relate to your "kid from Queens being " . This is very open and honest . But all in all he did well for himself and the stage personal must me left behind at a certain time of the day-and the real down to earth "kid from queens" must resurface as he has done in this autobiography. Bravo Paul -from Queens !!
Paul , I think you are an awesome human being . Do you know that you have helped many people with different things , phobias , and dead ends . You have helped me very much emotionally , mentally . You have made me more positive and energetic . Your music will never leave me . Be well with your family . Remember I’m just a huge admirable fan
I am glad he is mature enough to recognize his own flaws, if you think about about, His troubles were minor compared to all the other rock stars who would die due to drugs and alcohol.
His troubles are why some of these rock stars died. The drugs and alcohol were coping mechanisms. Being kept in that bubble, your social skills and ability to function dies, if you ever had it in the first place.

Paul, you are more than just "Star Child," or for that matter, a "star." You are a whole intricate, wonderful constellation inside that heart that is you.
Paul I would love to talk about music historically and emotionally...never heard a rockstar not give a damn about equipment but solely the human nature and connection to music. I can understand not having anyone to talk to when people expect a big presence. It’s a good ego check. As proud of a person Paul is, he really is one of the most unique rockstars in this way.
I appreciate how transparent Paul is with this part of his life, it’s not always easy to talk about these topics of life. I sympathize with Paul and I myself can relate to him on this. I was happy and I actually teared up when I first heard this 2 years ago I hadn’t felt heard or understood, I never thought or felt like anyone was going through or anyone had gone through what I was experiencing or had experienced.
This excerpt explains so much, like why Paul is still performing on stage, whether it's with KISS or with Soul Station. I honestly think Paul will be on stage until the day he dies.
Dear paul la soledad nos pasa a todos mucha tegnologia pero mucha soledad no es facil hablar con alguien y en su situacion de ser una persona publica mas. Me parece una persona inteligente y que habla con su corazon. Sigue estando super buenmozo.
This resonates so much because as someone who has suffered from and as someone who has worked with others who experience significant social phobia - no one gets it unless you have felt it. It can cripple you. For me, working and helping those who were even more frozen by their social phobia really helped me understand my own. They will never know that they helped me as much or more than I helped them.
This is one of the most honest and amazing admissions in music. As 'mundane' as it may seem. Not about drugs, demons (well, not the really big ones) etc. But I understand this. It's not a 'phobia'. Years ago I told a friend Paul was very insecure, which is why he tried so hard. It was his style of trying hard. When his book came out I realized I was right. I feel kind of bad for him, but it seems as if he worked through his personal demons, which is always a good thing.
Yeah financially screwed or fired every Kiss band member since the original drummer and lead guitar were fired. Refused to give them solid contracts or a part of gross revenues. That is why they went through so many Kiss band members. As articulate and interesting as Paul sounds it was all about Money at the end of the day with him and Kiss. Gene just went along with whatever Paul wanted. They screwed over lots of musicians in the process over the 45 or so years. I don't dislike Paul. I find him articulate and interesting. But he has a tendency to blame others for everything that went wrong over the years with Kiss. Him and Gene screwed lots of people over the years. At the end of the day it was all about the money in their pockets. IMHO

When a person spends their lifetime pursuing their heart's desire, dreams, or whatever they perceive to be the ultimate accomplishment ... once they achieve their goal, whether it be Stardom, Great Wealth, Worldly Power...or Whatever! They can end up feeling empty inside. There are plenty of examples, from 'movie stars' to Politicians. Inner peace doesn't come easy..... no matter Who, or What you BECOME...(and it can be fleeting,) no matter WHAT you Achieve. It can be a LIFE-TIMES Pursuit...which is what ALWAYS makes the Journey more Valuable.... (then the End of the road...)
I remember reading about Jagger who, after performing in front of thousands had to take a dump and felt incredibly lonely. No one to be with etc .. same feeling/different person.
Paul I didn't know you had anxiety problem I love you and your music I used to play the piano not anymore maybe you can talk me out of it I dont like large crowds but I will see you in. A big crowd maybe

Very Sad!!🤔😔
I remember reading about Jagger who, after performing in front of thousands had to take a dump and felt incredibly lonely. No one to be with etc .. same feeling/different person.
Wow man.. You would be a cool friend
Paul I didn't know you had anxiety problem I love you and your music I used to play the piano not anymore maybe you can talk me out of it I dont like large crowds but I will see you in. A big crowd maybe
Paul Stanley nobody goes to club by themselves they find a friend.anybody goes into a club alone is going to feel awkward unless they are meeting someone there
even with biases against him, I kinda feel for him in this video
The more I know people (not all), the more I'd rather just talk about music - on a historic or emotional level, but also about gear.
His eye brows are hilarious love Paul
