Wow, you know things are bad when seniors start robbing banks, this is so sad.
She was scammed over the phone.

Desperate times calls for desperate measures. She probably holds the Guinness world record book now. Lol. 😂
Seniors who lost their home, can't afford to live, and don't have any children, or any who are supportive, are known to rob banks for money. If they get away with it, perhaps they'll have enough money to live off of for another 10 years. If they get caught, they'll end up with a roof over than head, plus 3 squares a day, rather living on the streets.
We are a throw away society, so we care little of those over 50, despite the fact that we'll all grow old at some point, at least most of us.
Smart lady. Now she goes to federal prison instead of being homeless.
If so, that's so sad. If homeless, she gets no right camping on the sidewalk and can't disappear into thin air. Sad is due to no way out.

I have to say that a senior citizen who is duped in an online scam and then resorts to bank robbery to get their money back would be a great idea for a movie or an episode of Law and Order.

Here in Canada reports of banks failing there customers deposits b/c of online criminals so this is quite possible

Most disabled get just over $900. They do not even qualify to put in a rental application. A low income studio is $1015. Or was six years ago when my rent had shot up so high with new owners that I had to go. My sister took me in. Old enuf now to qualify for senior housing. Been on the waiting list for a year.
Really glad she had room in the garage for what furniture and etc I kept or I'd be starting with nearly nothing. I got very lucky. She'd only moved from the Midwest a year before my son (and housemate) died and then new owners. There was noplace to rent, even with Section 8 help. Not a one bedroom in sight that wasn't a luxury apt and $$$$$.
She was a victim of a money scam she lost her entire life savings this is a common thing that happens to the elderly. She became desperate and robbed a bank, what would you do if you lost your life savings that you worked for, for over 50 years to get and someone came along and took it right from under you. The system isnt going to help her get that money back she lost I do not condone theft, but her story is a sad one I don't think max sentance is required for this person.

Well that's too bad. Old ppl are gullible and that's their own fault. Nobody is gonna look out for your best interest but yourself. Everyone needs to wise up and not depend on "the system" to bail you out when you make stupid azz decisions. Take the lesson like an adult and move on. That's my advice to her and others like her.

Federal prison has great health and general care. Banks are federally insured.

I work a block away from a bank and we were told to remain in the building due to police activity. We later find out that an elderly person had written a note to a banker demanding $100. When the banker gave the elder money, the elder walked with his walker a block away and hid. He was pretty hidden due to parked cars and trees. Its a busy street. Anyways, cops end up finding him, & draw guns on him. Robbery isnt okay, but it shows how messed up our system is when an elderly person who cant even walk without a walker robs a bank.

She’s probably retired…but thanks to our government and their greed they probably took her pension year by year until she was left with nothing but empty pockets! Just like they did to my mom!!!

It’s the criminal system guilty of the crime which drove a 74 year old to commit that act. She should be set free with enough monthly allowance to take care of all her needs.
The disconnect in the court room shows you how numb we all have become to the human plight out here. She has no prior criminal history as was said in court, but what makes them think it is at this age she would want to start building her rap sheet??She is a victim of circumstance. Circumstance 99% of us are all one major accident away from…HOMELESSNESS!!
When some are reaching a point in life that they seem of clear mind but aren't, it's very sad. She likely needs to be put into a nursing home that's locked, where she can't leave for her own safety. I doubt she's just desperate. My Dad is going through this weird unusual behavior and it's tough to see him, not be who he always has been. She's clearly no criminal, and needs help.
