Join me on the rather extravagant trip I made to the UK after spending a bit too much time on some machine auction sites!!
I ended up with every machine you could possibly need in a home hobby workshop. Plus some extras that took my fancy whilst there!!
I collected them all in ~47h, across 4 cities in the UK.
The total journey distance was over 800km.
The total weight of machines and equipment was ~6 tons.
Follow me on the journey collecting each machine, getting them loaded onto the truck and send back home.
    Don't forget to subscribe!!
    The machines I bought were:
    - Bridgeport BRJ Vertical Milling Machine
    - Guyson Blasting Cabinet
    - Tom Senior Horizontal Mill
    - Colchester Master Lathe (Buck model variant)
    - Studer Type OB Grinder
    - Progress 3A Pillar Drill
    - 2x metal cabinets
    - Plus a load of tooling and extra bits and bobs
    Please note:
As these machines were purchased abroad, via an auction website, I did not get to view any of them, or see them running before collection. You are literally watching me see the machines for the first time.
As such, I had no idea of their condition - Assessing the condition of each machine will be in later videos.
This is not how I would recommend buying machines, despite it being very good fun!!

It's lovely to see that you are buying really good quality older machines. You can spend the same or more on far eastern machines (made on old machines like this!!) but those will need replacing themselves in a few years time. What you've bought is machinery of a totally different quality, that will see your grandchildren out. And it sounds as if you've bought at incredibly low prices. Conversely, it's also lovely to see these fine machines are going to a good home where they will be looked after and appreciated. I wish you the very best of luck with them.

I'm 82, have been a model engineer since I was 12. Seven steam locos constructed in three 3.5gauge, two 5 and two 7.25 plus a lot of other "stuff". My workshop comprised an elderly Colchester Chipmaster 5in x 20 lathe an Elliot 10in stroke shaper, a band saw, drilling machine and a ton of small tools etc.
I have found used small professional machine tools offer the best value in terms of accuracy and capacity.

I was chatting to Matt and Julia 2 weeks ago at Guildford on their last minute getting the Business. It was such a lovely workshop went in 2017. Nice mill. Me 9 lathes various and 3 milling machines. Yes I use at least 3 machines each day building something in 5 inch. Plans to build a cnc lathe and a mill both for metal. I won a smaller Progress Drill for £100 on e-bay. Yes them 12 " rotarys are very heavy plus 2 6" Abwoods.

I'd be interested in knowing the total cost, including rigging costs and transportation back to your shop, for comparison to what we're doing here in the states. What we generally deal with are either worn-out machinery that is in need of a lot of work to put it back into proper condition, _or_ wildly overpriced machines. Sometimes, they are both.
