Bugs and patches are called that because they were literally used in old punch-card computers. Sometimes a moth would eat a card, or a misplaced hole had to be taped over with a patch. Crazy how words like that start.
The fact about hot and cold water having different sounds is amazing. For some reason, I'm surprised at hearing it, and yet I've been subconsciously aware of the fact that they do indeed have different sounds.
I certainly got a useless fact, Doomguy has a death animation!
he's got more than one.
as well as a different pain animation in his portrait.
Not really all that useless considering Doom has/had multiplayer support
4:10 Yes, that’s why computer errors are called bugs. Famously so.
But no, that first bug wasn’t a virus. It wasn’t spreadable from computer to computer.
tho one could say some other moth[s] hopping around different computers are being a virus hehe x]
The anti-piracy ad was also on shit tons of VHS cassettes (yes, even in 2007 they were still quite popular). I remember watching LOTR on VHS, and the anti-piracy ad was there. Luckily ads on VHS are super easy to fast forward, and I've always enjoyed how the image just gets so much faster, with the lines across it, which ended up being an iconic fast forward effect in both CZcams and professional TV show productions, and it literally was just a byproduct of the fast forward feature of the VCR where the head was still spinning and transmitting the video signal to the TV, while the tape fast forwarded, which inadvertedly mixed various frames together into one, which in turn created these iconic white stripes across the screen, those were the divisions that marked the transition to another frame. I always found it really cool.
i was surprised it was from 2006 because i remember watching it on more tapes than dvds =0
Nintendo also existed around the finishing of the Eifel tower and the Gameboy released around the 100th anniversary of the company.
That's really interesting about there being more trees than stars in the Milky Way. I didn't believe it at first, but I looked up the estimated number of each separately, and it seems to check out.
Far more interesting than the Jack the Ripper/Nintendo thing is that Nintendo almost got nuked. Kyoto was going to be the original target instead of Nagasaki for the nuclear bomb the USA used on Japan, but the secretary of war at the time believed it was too culturally significant. It is believed he also went on his honeymoon there.
We could have been living in a world without Nintendo if it weren't for a couple people changing course. Pretty crazy.
When I first saw your channel, I really was amazed with the quality of your videos. No crappy mic, no crappy humor. Your are a good example of how youtubers should be like.
Looking back at this comment its absolutely robbery that he doesn’t have more subscribers. His content is consistently great
Lol I'm not very old but I remember gathering around the family computer with my siblings and dad choosing which movies we wanted to order from Netflix. Definitely strange to think it wasn't always a streaming service.
i wonder if someone being a twin means theres more than 6 or 7 dopplegangers, or if that number is the same regardless of if someone in your immediate family looks nearly identical to you
That number means on average, each person has about 6 doppelgangers, but every person's exact number will be different. Some will have just a single look alike, some will have dozens, but on average it's believed to come out to 6 look alikes per person.
When a piracy ad also promotes piracy,
ha! Jokes on you
You wouldn't download a house!!
LoL, I used the Netflix DVD rental for at least a year or 2, but don't recall the website looking that janky! 🤣 Also, that was how I built my own personal DVD collection, by ripping the Netflix rentals... 🤫
Well at least you didn't steal the music from the anti-piracy ads 😂😂
@@TracksWithDaxwhat if the DVDs had the anti piracy ad
Very underrated youtuber i loved ur angry birds iceberg vid
hey so wikipedia says that one source disputes the music stealing in _you wouldn'd download a car_ saying that it was some other anti-piracy thing which stole music
Bro I remember that freaking anti-piracy thing
The doppleganger one is funny because me and my housemate have discovered 4 of his dopplegangers lol, one was actually seen in person by one of his friends
I don’t know why it’s weird to think of Netflix before google Netflix started out mailing out VHS’s and DVDs they weren’t streaming.
I only reasonty discovered that the music from those anti privacy ads was indeed pirated 😂
Is there a recent for that?
Apparently this is false, the Dutch guy mentioned in this video composed music for a completely different ad altogether.
Bugs are called bugs because of real bugs, so it's not that crazy to think that bug luterally came from a bug on the machine.
0:15 yuhhhhhhh
that irony is class
How does this video only have 150 likes, its so good!
Hi I saw your PlantsVSZombies videos about the Beginning of the game keep up the good work
Is no one gonna talk about how the anti-piracy theme is unironically a banger?
underrated youtuber
Charlie Kelly reference was appreciated
6:33 Can't help but wonder if this difference is simply due to slightly differing pouring. A human obviously can't pour water in the exact same way twice.
I wonder if there's been any experiments done where water is being poured and participants have to say whether the water is (sounds) hot or cold -- 2-tailed so that even when the experiments guess the other way round (saying all the hot water is "cold" and all the cold water is "hot) the results are still significant.
It would be weirder if hot water and cold water did sound the same how do you think there’s gonna be a molecular change and that there wouldn’t be a molecular sound change it’s just logic. Do you think a pot of boiling water is going to sound the same as an ice cube? You realize that when somethings heated up the molecules start bouncing around therefore you would hear the sound of that and when it is colder, they are slower so you would hear the sound of that this is basic middle school stuff my guy.
Well everyone knows that Netflix is older then Google... considering how much Netflix was advertised and how Blockbuster even copied them, before Google was ever popular at all...
I have no idea to comment
However I'm gonna leave it so youtube show this video to others
me too
Nice video!
Do the mr men iceberg
netflix being founded before google is like saying blockbuster was founded before yahoo
what about it?
i just considered that hot water and cold water had different sounds and shrugged it off yesterday, and now im finding out its true without even doing any research o_o???? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaa, terrifying coincidence because its so freaking random!
People forget that his real name was already given as Alistair Cookie
Cool video
Jack the Ripper is now identified btw
6:23 Tom Scott? Steve Mould? Huh?
A Steve Mould video on Tom Scott's channel.
This is useless but good
Ik my look alike
obama looks like my dad. and eli vance from half life 2 has some similarities whit his face too
3:24 you’re assuming here that he hasn’t already been talking to women behind her back I mean, if she’s talking to people on match I’m guessing that he’s talking to people on match and I’m guessing that he wasn’t too happy in his relationship if he’s making a dating website, come on. His affairs just probably never ended and anything serious.
Slanging video
diden't you mean 1-
i wonder how the doppelgangers thing works for me as a trans woman, gonna run into a cis woman lookalike lmao that would be fun
I will go Nuclear
@@quakeknight9680 huh
Not sure if anyone has said it already but that anti-piracy one is wrong. The stuff about Rietveldt is mostly true, but it was for a different anti-piracy ad and has nothing to do with the Piracy, It's a Crime ad.
This is actually 11 minutes you lied
The actual information lasted 10 minutes, excluding the intro, there's even a timer at the top to help you...
Carpenter should have listened to those critics. he didn't make any good movies.
He shouldn't have changed shit, the thing was the only good one
