If Wall of Sound had 350 million subscribers instead of 35,000, the world would be a much better place
Excellent thought!! Completely agree!! 👍🏻☮️😊
Well said!!
Want another good one try "lost my day job" Post almost daily
Always think what Willie Nelson said years ago
“I think everybody needs to get up and burn one everyday
Then we wouldn’t have all these wars and shit going on”
Paraphrasing
I think he’s right. Just saying……
We'll get there 😉
The Peggy O, Terrapin and Playing In The Band (especially) are absolutely incredible! Brent threw this band into high gear!
Made my day to hear this crystal-clear version of this 1979 show. Good times were had by all...
wow, this is quite a good recording. This rendition of Peggy O is heartbreaking, and Jerry's fretwork is sublime. Excellent with a hot cup of tea on a windy March day.
Or a nice cup or coffee on a sunny South Carolina morning 😊✌️
@@JohnnyFontane528 exactly!
Hot cup of Jerry this morning in Boston

"Wake now, discover that you are the song that the morning brings"!!! Mahalo, Wall of Sound (~);} 🤙♥️💀⚡🌹🎶✌️
Holy shit that Rider 🤤
Ahhh! The only way to spend a Sunday, many thanks 😊 🙏 ☺️
Hugs from Brazil
So. Excited.
To listen to this show.
The funk of late '79 is some of my favorite stuff.
Brent and Tiger 😊🎉❤
I agree. I think whenever you enter the bus it will always be ur favorite. In 88 l had more money to tour. The shows got bigger.
Sweet memories of maxell tapes and homemade covers 😌
Yeah man. No cell phones. Looking for a pay phone 😂❤old Fords...
Well, ALL RIGHT! Chinacat opener...Thank you Wall of sound!
My first show. Spent the afternoon in TJ getting ready. The buzz on campus (UCSD) was a China Cat opener. The band delivered. Great to hear such a clean recording. Thanks WOS!
How did rumors like this start?
Golden Hall is one of the most elegant and intimate venues I have ever seen the dead at. The gentle slope of the small auditorium, deluxe seats spaced well apart, and a feeling that was entirely different from a normal dead show. a feeling of relaxed, understated opulence. Quite a change from the "Take another step back" shows, because we all had very comfortable seats with a clear view of the band.
is it possible this was at the sd civic theater, right across the courtyard from golden hall? the dead played one three night stand there in the late seventies as i recall. that place has the sound baffles hanging from the cieling and two balconies... built for sound! did see the boys at golden hall as well; they played there a couple of times as i recall. got backstage there one show and hung out with marmaduke for a bit...
Man that sounds really nice, walking out after the show must have been heaven.
@@juansurfcity1605 okay guys what it was and where, as they may say? I can't believe the Dead were playing in San Diego in the late 70's but then again they played Watsonville after this show. New Riders were still happening in '79? I'm in Thailand enroute to san Diego in a couple months so would be fun to see what and where of this show. peace and love
Hey george see my response to Juan Surfcity as many a fine daze in San Diego but never crossed with the Dead there though did many and any other times along the line peace and love
@@tomzanica8871 I'm on Koh Chang until this Friday listening to this show now
Just what I needed on a cold, rainy, Northern California day! Wood stove & speakers going hard!! … thanks Wall!! ☮️
Haha Cold rainy 1/2 assed
snowy day here in Nova Scotia. Wood stove, speakers cranked, and the infinity bowl is full. I have no complaints.
@@tonygouchie4661 someday I’ll get back to Halifax.
Good early Monday morning from snow blanketed,Iron Mountain,U.P.,Michigan.
I'm currently deep into 2nd set of this gig, listening from the speaker of an inexpensive $60 Samsung cell phone
...the sound quality that's coming out of this speaker is frikken PRICELESS !!
That you use "Wall of Soumd" as your identity is most appropriate 😉.
Y'all set the bar of excellence in reproducing these gigs.
I'm just elated to be able to tell you this. Thanks 👍 😊 !!
Steven, I’m replying from Raleigh NC, sitting out on my back deck in shorts & a T shirt. Your post made me chuckle but then again I’m “enjoying” the nice” afternoon
☠️😉☠️
Have a Good one brother!
How I remember this show astounds me. I felt like I was at my third Prom~!
sounding great right out the gate!
YES INDEED 👍
That China/Rider had some pizzazz huh !?!
Sound quality for entire gig MAGNIFIQE 👌 👏 !!
Another banger as always. I listened to 6744 minutes of the dead last year, most of that was Wall Of Sound. Best youtube channel ever!

Wish I coulda seen this. Sucks for me because when I was of age to go to Dead shows, they never came to SD. Saw some JGB gigs here, but it would have been convenient to see some hometown shows.
I mean I hear ya, but ya know, you live in San Diego so there’s that 😊
At least you caught JGB. That's pretty awesome too.
Sorry dude - showing off here - I was there! We rented a car and drove over from U of AZ in Tucson for Thanx weekend in SD, saw this and the night before at Golden Hall. Made new friends who put us up at their place in LaJolla. Cops were hassling us for throwing a frisbee around outside the doors before the show. Golden Hall was great. Small beautiful theater instead of the hockey rinks back east. You could get an actual drink, in a glass, for about $2. Jerry was kinda wasted at this show. Phil kicked his ass all night long and it was a terrific show. Phil is a monster from start to finish here!
@@wobrien007 That's funny, I was living in La Jolla in 1979. Second grade. Didn't get out to a Dead show until '88 in Carson. Glad you had a good time, it sounds great.
@@bennylevine387 Maybe your Mom and Dad put us up? 😆
Thanks WOS! Always a real treat to hear what show you’ve got for us. And the quality is never in doubt.
Cheers! 💨💨💨
Great performance and sound! I think 70's was their best era (just my opinion). "Easy to love you" here is gorgeous! 😍 I can listen it over and over 🤗 Back at those times when people really could make live music.
77', their best year, IMO.
WoS- thank you and life’s destinations are always seen unclearly…..my best to all ✌🏻!!
WOS thank you for the Sunday food. The food that feeds the soul. We are grateful!

The band is definitely in sync, firing on all 8. One of the best shows I've heard, very crisp, thank you Wall. My late Wife's birthday, 11-24-60 RIP, Babydoll.

Thanks for posting this fabulous show - superb sound quality. So Gr8ful for all that you do.
What an Awesome show ,Thanks 🙏
Great sound!!
sound is fantastic!
Thank you WoS! This is a beautiful mix with everyone exactly where ( I think ) they should be.
Absolutely timeless
Brilliantly sunny feel for this show in the Fall of ‘79. Very worthy of official release some day. Much prefer this to Dave’s 47 from same tour.
Working in the tune shop in Vail at Pepi sports this is making my shift so much better thanks this is awesome
So beautiful. Thank you Wall of Sound. Dig the rare second go around solo on Terrapin starting at 1:24.
Thank you, WOS!!! ****** CHARLIE BOY!!! GRACIAS.
Love me some Ship of Fools. Thanks WOS!
One of my favorite China Riders. Soooooo funky.

The bootleg part was how I did it too~! Got to say to a new friend, hi and what great seats above the soundboard at the Salt Shed.
True story. So we parked in the downtown parking garage for this concert me and my buddy. I'm in college at SDSU and he works. He pulls out a golf ball size ball of hash breaks it in half and says let's eat it. We walk in the elevator, I'm dressed in my Wikiki tie died Maui shirt, white pants and wallabies with big fro and in the elevator is two couples in tuxedos going to must be the opera at the Civic theater next door. We're holding two tall Coors at our hands pretty wasted it was awkward silence. Pretty fun concert. Btw it took about 40 minutes for that stuff to hit. LOL still have the shirt too 😂
The Alabama > Greatest segue is outstanding!
Yep, I caught that one too. Stunning.
✌🏻
Setlist is tough to beat
They've got the New Orleans second line brass band sound rocking on all the instrumentals so far I'm on Peggy O......
What shirt is Phil wearing. Shit is 🔥
TERRAPIN🐢
Does anybody know what that bass is Phil’s playing in the photo? It looks like an Alembic and a Modulus had a kid. It’s so cool.
No clue, but I'm curious too. Most six-string basses are too big for my hands but that one looks perfect. I bought a Squier Bass VI, but sadly, it was not what I was looking for
It's def not a pic of phil in 1979. Phil was playing a doug irwin 4 string bass that was the same shape as Tiger....and modulus is a child of alembic, and that bass is definitely a modulus
Any more pics of this concert? I want to try and replicate the shirt Phil is wearing in the image.
Show would be so much better without the ads popping up in the middle of songs. i.e.. middle of I know you Rider. Just makes me find something else . WOS Shows usually dont have any ads.?
Yep I submit the copyright disputes with every show, but don't always win. I'd try using ad blocking software like Free Adblocker (or as you said, there are other shows- but this is a good one )
Was Bill Walton at this show?
yeah
Nakamichi 700 👍. Man, I miss the days of real equipment before all the waves went digital.
