Thanks for your post! It didn't resemble my Delta shower head, but gave me enough to go on. Mine turns between two different stream selections. I found that if I kept turning to the left after hitting the left stream limit, it unscrewed all the way! I wouldn't have tried this without your post, so thank you! After opening I found a rubber O ring that seals against the pivot ball had broken in half and was blocking the water flow. Thanks!
Me too...but I figured out how to get it apart as I watched this. There's a retainer ring holding the face plate to the pattern selector. There's a small gap in the ring that can be exploited with a pick to pop that faceplate off...voila
Thank you so much. This helped me figure out how to disassemble my showerhead. I never would’ve figured it out without your 4 methods mentioned at the beginning of the video. Mine was a hidden screw under a cap on the face of the sprayer. Thanks again!! 👏🏼😊👍🏼
This closely resembles my Delta brand showerhead, so even though the maker designed it to be totally user-unfriendly for troubleshooting, this video was very educational!
glad you liked... I've been amazed how many folks just thought I smashed it up and didn't catch that I showed how it would have been disassembled properly
Good video. Makes me yearn for the days when we made such items in America that were serviceable. The throw away design (while i know why they do it), it is a waste of materials, labor, and one's dream of having a quality made product in which he/she could service. Oof.
I made this video because I couldn't find anything online on how to open this showerhead. Unfortunately until I hit it with a hammer I didn't figure it out either!
On my RV sink faucet, there’s a piece that threads on where the supply line threads on, backed it off, then I was able to disassemble the faucet clean, reassemble it test it and put it in the drawer for back up
I was hoping it wouldn't come to that but after I'd exhausted all other known methods I figured let's turn it into comedy... I really wasn't expecting the hammer to reveal anything but it did
I have a shower head that was working fine, but it was hard to rotate the selector to select the different spray modes. I tried spraying silicone lubricant spray into the gap between the head and the part that turns around to select the spray modes (pried it open a bit with a screwdriver), but that didn't seem to help. However then I tried squirting some plumbers grease in that slot, again prying it open a bit with a screwdriver to get grease in at a few points around the shower head -- and that seemed to do the trick. No more squeaking, no more difficulty turning. Seems good as new.
My showerhead was simple. It’s got a plug in the center you pop it out. There’s a Phillips head screw remove it take the whole thing apart clean reassemble.
I’ve also seen some cases where you have to mash two particular locations on the cosmetic outer plastic to release a snap-in-place clamp. Then you’re able to see inner stuff where it’s more obvious to continue. I could not tell if this shower head made use of that method.
I appreciate the feedback... yeah, these showerheads all need maintenance and yet they make so many of them cryptic as to how to disassemble to that maintenance can be done. They clearly want us to throw away and buy a new one
I appreciate you sacrificing your showerhead. Mine works on most settings but when I twist it to the massage setting, it consistently stops after a couple of seconds. I tried soaking it overnight in vinegar but no luck. Like you, I couldn't figure out how to open it. It was driving me nuts not being able to figure out how to open it. I'm guessing the mineral build up that's causing the problem is also locked my threads together.
yeah it's so frustrating when you have one that you like and then it stops working and you can't figure out how to open it and fix it. Never seems like the next one we buy is as good as the one that broke LOL
Mine has 3 little indents, and I think that's for the turning of that center piece. Mine is a peerless. However I'm also confident there's so much of water mineral deposits that it's easier to just buy a new one. I may attempt to 3D print a triangle with those points as a key to see if it works though.
I'm curious, after getting it open and seeing that it does turn, if you were going back in time, how would you try to get it open without damaging it since you did try to unscrew it in the beginning the first time and that didn't seem to work?
Good to know: they usually can't be disassembled. I've sent a message to Oxygenics to ASK them how to disassemble mine, so i can clean it out. I'm expecting they will not help me. It sucks that even if you buy a good quality showerhead, it will eventually get clogged up, and cannot be serviced or repaired.
hope they answer you. I know folks think it's funny that I ended up smashing it with a hammer, but in doing so I did finally learn the trick to how to disassemble it without breaking it
I just called Delta for a handheld, and they're sending me a complete unit . Originally, I received it from a friend; It doesn't matter and still had a lifetime guarantee.
bought a new showerhead because the plastic mount broke. New showerhead is low-flow and functionally useless. seriously, 1.7 gallons per MINUTE? doesnt even clean the crap out from under my nails...
if you watched the video I reveal how to open it without breaking it. Unfortunately there are lots of ways they hide the method to open them and refurbish them.
I liked the 4th method best, a B.F.H. is all you need
😂😂😂😂😂
B.F.H. = BIG F__KIN' HAMMER 😂

First search result and it's the same shower head I'm fighting with. Thank you, Mr Handy Dad, for saving me hours of frustration.
Glad I could help. I wish I had this video before I smashed it with a hammer!

Great job repairing!

Fully understand friend
Thank you very much. I was trying to figure out how to do that and you made it for me. Your work saved me much work and risking hurt my hands.
it's really too bad they don't include instructions for disassembly and repair when you buy them
On my RV sink faucet, there’s a piece that threads on where the supply line threads on, backed it off, then I was able to disassemble the faucet clean, reassemble it test it and put it in the drawer for back up
Thanks. Your vid gave me the inspiration to force our WPic open. Felt like plastic broke but it's just hard water crust cracking.
Step one, use every tool in box, Step two pry till it breaks, Step Three run to Home Depot and install new one. Got It
LOL - if you watch closely the video does reveal how to open it without breaking although I had to break mine to figure it out
this is an old vid but just seeing it now... first off thank you for the info and secondly.... fav part is def the hammer time
I was hoping it wouldn't come to that but after I'd exhausted all other known methods I figured let's turn it into comedy... I really wasn't expecting the hammer to reveal anything but it did

you're welcome
You destroying it is helping me not destroy mine. Thanks!
Whelp, still broke it
well darn, I was hoping that I helped you not destroy yours.
most satisfying part of anything is smashing
especially after the frustration of failing to fix something
The video I didn't know I needed! Deep down inside, I was curious to know how those work internally, I've just been too lazy to figure it out.
I saw the guy on FB looking for police center caps in FL and was gonna suggest you, but I saw that you had already replied to him

good luck with it. To remove mineral deposits you can soak in vinegar or citric acid or similar
Boys and girl, this is a lesson on how to not fixing something correctly And that's the lesson for today, kids.lmao
LOL Well, it was intended to be a lesson on how to fix, and by me destroying mine, you now know how to safely disassemble yours
@@WJHandyDad I was just messing with u. But thxs for the video
online needs a "sarcasm" font LOL
All you have to do is put the palm of your hand in the center and turn it counter clockwise
I'm getting East Coast Classic's vibes with all the smashing.
I'm surprised you didn't try to run it over with a Green Brier Wagon. Lol
-Chuck
waiting for ECC to show up with one of his vans to run over it
maybe a sledgehakker would be better or even a destruction ball on a crane, what a muppet?
Good job
You had to destroy it to fix it! 😂 That happens to me all too often!
I'm curious, after getting it open and seeing that it does turn, if you were going back in time, how would you try to get it open without damaging it since you did try to unscrew it in the beginning the first time and that didn't seem to work?
look at 8:30 of the video... looks like the inside of the face would unscrew
LOL thanks for the laugh.
Very clear and easy to follow. Presumeably reassembly is the reversal of disassembly?
LOL - if you figure out a way to reverse the hammer smash let me know!
@@WJHandyDad Apparently the latest hammers have a forward and reverse switch. Modern technology - amazing!
Basically buy a new one or deep clean it.

could you drill all the holes out with a micro drill mabe
A lot of the manufacturers have a lifetime guarantee just call them and they replace it for free
now you tell me! LOL
I just called Delta for a handheld, and they're sending me a complete unit . Originally, I received it from a friend; It doesn't matter and still had a lifetime guarantee.
I break things like this also
The title of this video should not be "how to dissamble", but rather "how to break" :)
LOL... yes I had to break that one to show how to properly disassemble, but I do explain how to properly disassemble all the different types
As hard as opening an oyster.
I guess when my wife tells me I watch a lotta crap on YT ...she's right ! ☹
Thanks for destroying it! I so want to do that too
some of the junk they make now a days
My ADVICE. Just buy a new head. With No hassle.
bought a new showerhead because the plastic mount broke. New showerhead is low-flow and functionally useless. seriously, 1.7 gallons per MINUTE? doesnt even clean the crap out from under my nails...
I m actually dumber after watching this...
then you need to watch it again and this time pay close attention to all the methods that I mention in the video
I’m not sure if I want advice from someone who admits in the first minuet that he broke the showerhead trying to open it.
if you watched the video I reveal how to open it without breaking it. Unfortunately there are lots of ways they hide the method to open them and refurbish them.
How to trash a shower head.
LOL
Is this a comedy??
it wasn't intended to be one... but unfortunately I wasn't able to discover the method for opening that particular shower head until I broke it.
well that was a waste of time
I could do without the gawd damn fucking nonsense
