The name "biscuit eaters" comes from the rations they were part paid with, a kind of hard tack biscuit. "Beefeaters" is different, a corrution of the old-French term for "food taster", which was part of their job as royal household wardens.

457 AD is an excellent mod of this era for M&B Warband. There's also Brytenwalda Repolished for Britannia specifically.

ts a shame that medieval doesnt model retraining and recruitment costing manpower but its possible to script through the Medieval 2 Engine Overhaul Project. They can also do stuff like add and remove forts/settlements in a live game.
I'll try adding EOP to the mod later and I'm going to try demoing a few things for fun. Esp. UI modding to get rid of the stretch effect is an itch I have to scratch. Though I gotta rewrite one orginal UI piece at a time to get it to work D:

I’d also like to point out the fact that many of the settlements in Gaul have unique info buildings that tell you about the history of the place.
The Batavians are so hilarious. Not a script, just a random occurrence of a bunch of identical units.

It occurred to me that this let’s play is at Goldilocks levels because you know a lot about history to pronounce things well and to understand the context and appreciate the info, but you obviously don’t know the timeline of Gaul in the 400s by heart so you’re still taken by surprise :)
The effort put into the historicity of this mod, taking into account the era is astounding !

Being at war with the saxons is probably due to the raiding of the time period by the Saxons and the British invasion led by the Saxons brothers Hengist and Horsa
Watch out for the weapons & blacksmith building requirement bug! If you upgrade it from tier 1 too early then you cannot upgrade civil buildings like serfs. Theres a bug where the upgraded tiers of blacksmith & armourers arent counted towards the requirement.

There is a Japanese mod that's a total conversion that is good for bannerlord. It had one in the first game, gekokujo or something similar.
Was about to comment that the campaign doesn't seem as disastrous anymore right when your king died :D just waiting for the franks to backstab you and some of the other barbarians to turn up in gaul
