Black Diamond Presents: The Balkan Dream with Seb Bouin

- BD Athlete Seb Bouin was looking for a new experience. “We usually go to places where the climbing is already developed,” he explained. So, Bouin, along with his mom and two dogs, got in the van and drove up the coast of France to reach Albania. There they found a plethora of undeveloped limestone ripe for the bolting, as well as an undone 9b king line bolted by none other than BD Athlete Adam Ondra. Check out this video of Seb Bouin living the Balkan Dream.

Nice movie, but too much cutting in the climbing scenes..
Yeah unbearable to have it interrupt all the time. Awesome vid all in all but where is the 90-minute uncut version? With uncuts of all ascents done there?
Beautiful film. Thanks guys 👌
What a pleasure to watch this beautiful wall in 4k
Thanks BD and Seb!
Seb Bouin is such an incredible climber! Absolutely love watching videos that feature him, this was a great one!!
What a beautiful place. Its time will come, for sure :)
Albania is one of my favorite places to have visited. Beautiful scenery and lovely people. Glad to see it get the exposure it deserves!
So good and inspiring
Great video! You'd want it to last forever, I really like this climber.
I love that he took his mom. I should talk my mom into climbing.
Elioni!!!! so nice to see you in this video!!! spresoj se je mirë!!!
This route, those holds, the beta, it’s all so rad looking!
What an awesome video!
Beautiful
Props to all the people putting in the work to make this place what it can be. It’s truly looks amazing and could compare with the best crags in both Spain and France.
The spicy ending
The subtitles are way off at times. "Dalle" means "slab". Unless Seb meant something else because that didn't look like slab to me.
Insane he casually pops off a 9b between bolting and sending new problems.
thats so good
Toujours au top Seb
Wow, awesome tufas!!!
staggering. albania on the list now.
Great video but can you please just keep the subtitles centered in the normal position? It was really hard to read and pay attention to the vid when they are jumping all over the frame sporadically.
Let's talk about that awesome tank top Seb is rocking. When's that available in the U.S.?
I want to climb there.
Edit: Tell me about this amazing van please.
That route looks dope im surprised it's rated so difficult it didnt look too bad.
I've just seen it today with my own eyes, trust me, it does look bloody difficult
a huDge battle 10:17 ; )
What are the strange white marks on a couple of sections of the tufa?
Super vidéo! Que du bonheur! Ça donne envie de voyager 🧗♂️
Alex h has been doing the same things in the dates God bless
Yellow subtitles, please 🙏
This is the real dirtbag life :)
But great vid, with great pictures
It’s insane how much respect Adam Ondra has even Amongst the best climbers
"even"? He's "especially" respected by the best climbers, of course...
why shouldn't he? he's the strongest climber nowadays, pushing the limits of what's possible.
Amazing video. I suppose those white marks on tufas are epoxy, does anyone know why they glued them like that?
That’s toilet paper to get rid of the wetness on the rock :)
I would say toilet paper to redirect the dripping away from the tufa, you can see water coming from it at 8:26
Whuuuuut. My mind is blown right now. Never seen that.
I guess a couple seagulls flew by at 1:10
is the grigri on backwards at 8:47 ??
I think its all right. First edition of the grigri looks different.
I also think its backwards.
The rope is is okay in the grigri. But the grigri is clipped backwards in the harness. Not good but probably not so dangerous
It’s backwards but it doesn’t matters
8:46 Does she really have the grigri turned? :-0
yes
Yes she does
Looks like the carabiner just shifted on the belay loop. From the angle it does look a bit backwards, but it isn't
@@spenceredgren7632 hahahah it’s backwards and point it fking doesn’t matter just watch and enjoy the video
No the gri gri is not backwards, it just looks like it cause the binder is spun
Nice video. Over edited as usual, but nice one though.
How do you even climb a 70 meter route. Do they make ropes long enough for that?
you can buy a spool of 200m and not cut it
@@edofih oh, cool. Is it dynamic rope then?
@@braydonsmedley5652 yes.
Climb up on a 70m rope, then abseil in two parts?
Look up the Dunn-Westbay integral, it's a traditionally protected 80m pitch graded 5.14b on the Diamond of Longs Peak at 4000m in Colorado. It was redpointed with some preplaced gear by Tommy Caldwell and Josh Wharton. Long pitches are amazing.
what happened to florette? ;)
I was wondering, too!
The name of the place Is spelled BRRAR
I dont really understand how adam would bolt such an epic line and NOT send it? Anyone know why?
He was only there2 days and ran out of time. Then he was focused on the Olympics
Developing tourism by bolting 7a to 9 degree routes... That's a very selective tourism to my point of view.. why not focusing on 6th degree if attracting climbers is the main goal ??
easier routes will come soon when more climbers are coming. of course they bolt the obvious lines that are really worth bolting (and climbing) first, then the easier ones...
I've been there today, there are routes from 6a through 6c and up available there already. The tip - in the summer you need to climb there very early in the morning, because when the sun comes up, that's it, the place is as hot as a furnace, impossible even to belay as your brain is melting down for the heat and a risk of sunstroke is serious
I have a question ... Is it "OK" to break rock wall with hammer?
They break it if they feel like the rock is too fragile
It's for the satefy of those who climb afterwards. Now is it ethical to do so... That's a question, but then you don't climb there if it's not.
Only when first establishing a route, they use a hammer to remove loose pieces that would likely break when you try to climb on it anyway
Was wondering the same, thanks for asking !
Rock like that is for people who don't value their own life
8:09 just waiting to get pulled face-first into the ground
"drove up the coast of France to reach Albania" is a geographically nonsensical statement 😂😂😂
Climbing's great, ofc, but I'm from the Balkans and that made my brain hurt.
So you’re trying to say Albania really exists? Nope
