I met a girl out in the hills who gave my lonely heart a thrill
Her beauty seemed just like a breath of spring
And when I looked into her eyes I thought of bluest summer skies
And when I held her hand in mine I heard the bluebirds sing
They sang of wondering (Wondering if you'll love her)
Will she marry (Marry if you'll ask her)
Will her heart be (Heart be true for him for) then and evermore
And when she's lonely (Lonely is he near her)
When there's sadness (Sadness will he cheer her)
Will they always (Always be together) until in death they part
I courted her for months on end until she promised we would wed
We planned on being married in the spring
All through the long cold winter months it seemed that spring would never come
And every gloomy winter day I heard the bluebirds sing
They sang of waiting (Waiting for the flowers)
And of counting (Counting every hour)
Till the bluebird (Bluebird chirps his welcome) into the world once more
And though we're waiting (Waiting for the sunshine)
We keep hating (Hating every storm cloud)
That has gathered (Gathered o'er the mountain) to keep us far apart
And when at last spring touched the earth we were married in the village church
Our wedding seemed just like a dream come true
So many years have come and gone our love is still as true and strong
As when I found it long ago... and still the bluebirds sing
They sang of loving (Loving every hour) that I'm married (Married to my flower)
We'll be happy (Happy ever after) as since the day we met
And though we're older (Older love is sweeter) we grow fonder (Fonder of each other)
We'll be sweethearts (Sweethearts close together) until the end of time
Thank you for putting the lyrics up, there are some I couldn't understand, it's nice to now know all the words to this beautiful song.
Such beautiful harmonies, unfortunately not like this today, so thank you to CZcams and the people who put these songs up to remind us of our past.
I can never get enough of this beautiful song, I love the harmony in the chorus.
@@townonhill I know. I listen to it often as well. I used to sing it when I was a little girl as my mum had the record. It reminds me of her, I learned to harmonize through listening to it while singing it with mum.
Amazing, excellent, meldious voice, it is worth to hear.Thanks.Haridas warrier (Chennai), India.
Miss you, Grandma
Jim Ed's voice is divine
Beautiful
Just wonderful what a voice ❤😊
I love it
Very nice!
Charmant !!
This is my favorite song when I am missing my husband 😢
Beautiful country harmony. I love it.
The Brown’s were wonderfully, such beautiful clear voices. So hard to believe all three are gone.
This song is really great. Makes me grin every time. "I heard the Bluebird Sing" Hod Pharis, 1952 or so.
Thanks for the tip!
Brother-Sister duos have quickly become one of my favorite singing combinations. The male-female dynamic of a close brother-sister relationship seems to have a natural complementary blending with an instinctive ability to instantly respond to each other, making for spot on harmonies that are unmatched. It is almost as if they can read each other's mind! The Brown duo of Maxine and Jim Ed are a favorite, along with Larry and Lorrie Collins and Donny and Marie Osmond!
My mom and dad sang this all through the years, thanks for posting.
My parents sang this song for years
When and where was this recorded please?
Oh. For the good old days
I love it! Thanks so much!

I think Steven Tyler sounds like him.
