The RT competes with a stock 5th gen in a way, However the advantage of the 5th gen Camaro is that it has 15-40 more HP and it is also over 100 pounds lighter than the RT.
The 392 stock would be more competitive here ... My RT Shaker has beaten lower trim Camaros, but the SS, ZL1, and ZL1LE are higher up on the food chain...lol. Both cars are sweet though....

@@yoboy4706 The Challenger is also a lot heavier. The Camaro has a better power to weight ratio and it's much more aerodynamic than the Challenger.

R/T Life yes, the biggest problem dodge has. Mine have 0 hook

I test drove the 2017 Camaro SS & holy shit that thing can move. I would 100% still rather own a mopar though because it offers something the Camaro/Mustang doesn't, room. Those little cars are fun but not for me anymore.

L99 (the auto 6.2) is 400, LS3 (the manual 6.2) is 425. Mods added a decent amount on top of the 400, no way it’d hit 500 without a cam.
NO, I have the same car, Camaro SS (L99 Auto). With long tube headers, catless catback, intake, throttle body, tune it makes 380 RWHP. It made 330 RWHP bone stock. It runs 12.1 @ 115 mph at the track with drag radials. The problem with the Challenger R/T is it's VERY HEAVY (probably 400 lbs more than the Camaro).

Nice vid man. WHP VS crank HP he might actually be somewhere over 400 but not 5 at the wheels. I had an 09 and a 12 r/t and they were a lot of fun. The 12 was a manual. I sold it when I test drove an SS. I wanted the SRT bad but even used they were almost 40k at the time. So I bought a brand new 15 SS 1LE and it was like a rocket to me stock for stock against my r/t. I have modded my SS a lot, but the hellcat is still calling my name.

Get some 3.92 gears, wider tires, logtubes and cam. Then it would be more even. But good stuff bro! representing the 5.7!

I have an ss and the 5.7 to the ls3 is not the same category. The 392 is the car to compare it to.

Realistically an L99 (Auto) with those mods is atabout 385-390 at the wheels. An LS3 (6speed) is about 420-425 at the wheels. I've had both with all the same mods. You people saying he's at 500 are clueless.

They come with 425hp ish stock so add all the extra he's probably at 450 or so. Not sure why he said 400. The auto is rated at more hp then the manual. Now had you had a 392 you would have kept up or beaten him.
K 1500 false... The auto was in fact down on power compared to the manual. The manual cars had an LS3, the autos did not.
Autos have never been rated more then the manual and I'm not even trying to sound like a manual fanatic but I'm just saying
L99 Automatic SS were rated at 400hp.
LS3 Manual SS were rated at 426hp.
So many people in this thread that have no idea what they're talking about. 5th Gen Camaro SS (L99 Auto) is 400hp (crank) and the (Manual) is 426 hp. On the dyno stock, the 5th Gen manuals usually put down 30-40 rwhp more than the autos.

Although I'm a Camaro fan because you don't see as many modded as other brands. And the underdog always wears the crown better. You could have put up a much closer run, but he had the jump on you every run, and who knows you may have drove around him on the big end. The SS 60foots like a monster.

My bro n law has a stock man trans 50th anniversarry edition 6.2 litre ss camaro. Its really nice and pretty fast but i beat him in my stock 2015 8 speed auto 6.4 litre ScatPack Challenger from a dig, and 20, 30, 40 mph roll everytime. I really like his camaro but i like my ScatPack challenger a lot better. Not because its a little faster but because it has an actual back seat people can fit in and it still performs the way its supposed to. He has kids and the only one that can fit in the back is in a car seat.

Not a fair race that is gas like 400 hp stock ,425 if it's a manual, and headers add at least 25 to that plus air probably 7/15 I'd say like 465hp

Yeah, the camaro is up by 80 hp stock, and the challenger has way too skinny tires, not a big surprise here, and with headers and a tune youre up another 50 or more
With these tires you'll probably be smoked by the 4cyl camaro. Get tires and re-run these two. I expect the SS still but not this bad, couldn't tell how much quicker the SS is

The SRT 392 engine can't keep up with the LT1 engine either. The hellcat or the demon would of course blow the camaro away though. I've got a 2018 Camaro 2ss redline edition and people want to race all the time lol :D

I’d rather get an RT (2019 Challenger RT owner here) instead of a scatpack/392 and mod the RT to get close enough to the horsepower and torque for much cheaper in price. RT’s are under rated. When I dyno’ed mine while stock it was pushing 390ish to the wheel.
The Camaro is more of a sports car than a muscle. Challengers are made to have power. Just recently have we been able to keep up with chevy and Ford with their sports car with the new dodge demon

Modern Muscle213 good investment mods for the R/T’s are a bigger gear and a custom tune with nitrous and headers and a wider tire and those 5.7L hemi’s love nitrous. I’m spraying a 150 shot on mines and it loves it.

I enjoy watching these videos to get a good laugh. Modern Muscle seems like a nice enough guy and I love how animated he is, but these car comparison videos are laughable. First, a Challenger RT shouldn't be reviewed in any type of video unless it's Staged 3 modded. This thing is practically stock, why is everyone so impressed? I'm guessing the audience is targeted towards people who have low hp stock cars??? Secondly, Modern Muscle doesn't know anything about cars. He asked if the stock motor had a pulley swap! He thinks a butterfly valve is a mod, repeatedly asks what mods are in the car at the beginning and end of the video. I'm not trying to be a jerk but do some homework, put some $ in the game and mod your car, then do the reviews. Editing is great and your personality is cool, a little over the top but better than most. I'm gonna keep watching though to support you cuz I like you way more than Guitarmageddonzl1 and the rest of the guys who reviews on CZcams.
