Not from stinkbugs they are completely harmless. They will walk right onto your finger and let you take them outside. They almost never try to fly away, they are pretty chill just also pretty annoying. I hate bugs but these guys dont creep me out at all. Not like a roach or something like that.
I lived in the same house for 20 yrs. And never seen one stink bug until this year. When I say over 100 of these bugs were in my house, there is no exaggeration
I live in the heart of the city (Chicago) and as I said, I've never seen these, EVER, until last year when they swarmed in thru gaps around my window A/C. Where the heck did they COME from?
40 miles north of Chicago here. I've seen a few here and there the last few years, but the last couple warm days they were everywhere. Not bothering anybody, just on the inside and outside of my patio screen doors. Like cicadas and ladybugs, maybe they just have a "cycle" and this year was their peak year.
From my experience about any stinkbugs I can rightfully say I have a stinkbug fobia. I hate them more than anything. I am not scared of snakes, spiders but these nasty thingys!
They are very harmless, but invaders must be dealt with. ;c This video is mostly pointless though, just throw them into a jar with a lid and toss'em outside. Putting them in water or injuring them can startle them into stinking. It's not much different than finding a lady bug or butterfly in your home. Harmless but it is in a place it doesn't belong. Spiders on the other hand can give you a skin rotting bite in your sleep that needs cut out of your leg in the ER before it spreads and they leave super glue webs all over your home that can't be washed off. (I really hate Brown Recluses). Sneks are cute.

Live in the lacey/ Olympia area of Washington state. Recently have been seing these EVERYWHERE. Infesting schools in my area, and spreading disease. Gonna share this, thanks guys
They aren't spreading diseases despite their acrid defense smell. Only the bigger changa ( kissing) bugs that resemble stink bugs cause illness in humans.
Get a lot of these around fall. Trapped a few of them in a jar last year. I was actually amazed how long they lived. I think I had them in that jar close to a month before I said fu and threw them outside.
They're like the perpetual turd that won't flush. I flushed one 3 times and there he still was. They may be terrible swimmers but they float like the ol fat lady at the local pool.

I recommend not using an A/C, But You should instead use a Fan that blows cool air by your bed. they are attracted to heat most of the time. Or You can trap them in a large Bottle with a large cap and keep the stink bugs in there with half the container or bottle and cap it off for a week, it will develop a nasty stench overtime and you should throw the water and stink bugs out the window because stinkbugs will flock to the stench because stinkbugs are naturally attracted to another stink bugs nasty smell.

It is summer and I am inundated with stink bugs! Your info is all about winterizing! I have them in the garages/sheds! Summer time! Found one in my hair after dropping dozens in hot soapy water. Recently BGE cut down falling branches and trees in our back yard right near the sheds, which I think is the reason for the infestation. I thought we brought over birds that eat them to keep them from infesting our homes and garages. They are originally from China. I've never seen them this bad since the first year they hit, what happened to the birds? Climate change, covid-19, oh yes stay indoors! Live with the stink bugs by all means. HELP!
They don't bite/sting though. There are predatory type of shield bugs that actually have a painful attack. The ones that feeds on crops and fruits and plants won't attack you with anything else except if they feel threatened they'll release that oder that makes me gag.. It's so disgusting. That stink bug trap you made out of a water bottle would also work for Japanese beetles only I would put some soapy water in there so they drown the minute they hit. The soap breaks up the water tension and they can't swim. Before I started adding water soap to the water in a bucket Irish music to capture Japanese beetles they could swim for days. And after they died a couple days later they can stink like heck dead bugs stink so as soon as they're dead don't them on your compost pile good source of nitrogen
I couldn't figure out why I kept getting these until I found a nest outside on my balcony. They were underneath my piano outside and I had to toss my piano but ever since then I haven't seen em I killed em with raid

No need to.harm unnecessarily or worse to enjoy torturing living creatures. Simply spray the outside of the house and windows with diluted peppermint oil in water to repel them. Just pick up any bugs that get inside in tissue or push them into a cup and put them outside under a few big leaves, a piece of loose thick cardboard or piece of old blanket out of the weather. They'll stay outside and others will join them to sleep through winter and fly away in spring if they survive hibernation. They just struggle and fear death from the cold as humans do and are attracted to warm light, heat, and a little moisture. They won't bite ot hurt people and do feel fear, hence their awful spray when scared.
