We FINALLY Straightened Mikko's Hair

  • After 4 challenging days, we exhaustingly finished straightening Mikko's hair! Because I didn't want to put her through too much stress, I chose to do her hair in steps so the sessions were shorter, allowing for more breaks. Though I am really happy with the results, this was a bit too much for me to be able to do this more frequently.
If you haven’t watched the first video, make sure you do that before you continue this one. Where I share our detangling process and Wash care routine.
So here I have the straightners on a medium heat. This is the first time we are straightening her hair and because she has naturally curly hair, I don’t want to cause too much damage with high heat. Im also just using Moroccanoil which was recommended by her grandmother who has a similar hair texture and of course more experience than I do when it comes to Mikko hair. (It can be used as heat protector)
I know this is not the traditional process to straighten hair but given our situation I am only using a brush and a small comb for her ends because she has sensory issues and I want to make this process as easy as I can so she doesn’t have a sensory overload.
Hope you enjoy the video 🩷

I totally agree @JoyJoysWorld. I learned so much from her videos. Ppl who find fault in how she's raising and teaching her child probably couldn't do a day in her shoes. I will never understand when a compliment is given and ppl hurry to say something negative but I have to remember that they're miserable ppl in the world and u can't please everyone. I hope Precious remembers this when ppl say negative things. It's way more positive comments than negative and ppl are always saying how they are learning from her. It has to be extra difficult for her seeing how she is on the spectrum too. I'm older than her but I look up to sis. I pray that Mikko and the twins flourish ❤

I remember having hair like Mikko as a kid! Hours and days for it to be washed, braided, curled, or hot combed! LOL … I wish it was still that way today! I miss those days or having Mom take care of it. Great job Precious! It’s a learning process to figure out what works for her hair and the process that works for HER! You got this and your gentle love is inspirational. SN: Big ups to Dad and the sibs! Everyone plays their part in holding things down. ❤

It literally took me the same amount of time for me to wash, set angle and straighten my daughters hair and the results were similar. This will be the story of my life next week because after a month I’m doing it all over again for her. No autism she’s just dramatic 😂. They look so beautiful after it’s done. All the hard work makes it worth it when you get to see them look at themselves in the camera and smile ❤

    Hi Precious,
I have asked you questions before, unfortunately I never got a response. PLEASE know I am asking this question with No Malice at all.
When I First found your channel and I watched a bunch of videos. I thought the reason you were always doing Mikko's hair was as a way to connect to Mikko or Maybe you were a hairstylist, And you found it very interesting or whatever. I didn't know why you were always doing Mikko's hair. So today, when I saw Mikko having so much trouble and having like a melt down, I ask myself Why does precious do Mikkos hair so much when it causes Mikko and you So much stress and pain and emotional upset. If it was me I'd leave it in a style you both like and not have to go through so much overwhelm. Well, it's Not me, so Precious can you please share why so much focus on her hair? Thank You. So, you know, I Struggle severely with COMPLEX PTSD, so I truly get how difficult this is for both of you.
That's why I really want to understand.
    ❤❤❤❤❤

Just a few suggestions...use a heat protection spray. Also one pass with the flat iron. You also may want to trim her ends.
If she doesn't like getting her hair done, why go through the process of trying to straighten it. Wash it, condition, and braid it. It may save you time and her the breakdowns.

    • @freetobree5323

Right I fail to see the point of even attempting..
I think maybe a straightening comb with 2 large pigtails plaits being part of her usual routine may make her life easier as far as detangling, but other than that, there was no point in putting her through this at all

I am a stylist and I've dealt with children ( boys and girls) who have learning disabilities ,autism ,ADD, etc. I dealt with many types of hair textures. I have found that less is more, my son had just as much hair as Mikko at age 3 yrs. when he was diagnosed . it wasn't fun but I found a way to calm him and made it easier on my back at 44yrs. we had a long counter at the sink, I would pad it with thick towels and roll one for under his neck and his head would sorta be back in the sink I would do 1 shampoo not scrubbing but sliding it from top to bottom of the ends of the hair rinse and then do the conditioner the same way and using a wig brush with rubber tips it would detangle it with conditioner in it. When he began to fret I would lean over him so he could reach me and hug me and I him. I would towel dry then blow on low setting with a wide tooth comb then three to four corn rows. I would never ever use a flat iron to any child under ten (my opinion). I guess I'm just old school and to each their own. You've been through soo much as a parent and /I watch your channel all the time, your an awesome mom with soo much patience and understanding hang in there cause only you know what best for your family. take care and keep up the great work.

I love watching y'all videos. I've been learning a lot through each journey and milestone that y'all have. I've had to learn a lot when using rubber bands. Try using oil on the black rubber bands or just use the clear ones. They wont tangle on their hair as much and they will easily pop when it's time to take them out. I also use ouchless scrunchies as well. I hope that little tip helps when doing Mikko's hair❤

I'm suggesting the same: silk/satin scrunchies instead of rubber bands

I know remember how bad it would hurt to get my hair done. When you did the leave-in conditione and twists, her hair was detangled and beautiful. At this point, calling it done would have been quite alright. Actually, using something heavier on her hair may be helpful. Then just let her run and be free 😊. My hair was not straightened until I was in middle school. And only for special occasions. Carol's Daughter has a heavier pomade (grease). Then just let her hair air dry with the twists. I hope these tips can be useful.

😪😪 I'm soooo sorry Mikko, momma needs to learn to listen to your cries of anxiety, and leave well enough alone. I know this was hard for you and it lasted way longer than it needed to. Please understand that as you grow, things will begin to balance out more. You'll be able to endure some uncomfortable moments with your very unique set of coping skills.
So, proud of you with each stride you make! You are Amazing! Hang in there kiddo, one milestone at a time🤗👧🏽💫

After a while her child plays on her emotions 3 days to comb one child hair is just overboard. Most of these parents shield their child so much they have to become more depended on them. It seems the parents need to be needed This child knows her mothers weak spot and uses it to her advantage a therapist and a doctor would tell you that they have to have discipline and boundaries. My granddaughter has autisum and doesn't get "special" treatment or leave way because of it. hair combing. bathing and teeth brushing is MANADTORY. She doesn't get to refuse these thing We treat her as of she is as normal as other kids. She attends school 5 days a week and any time she starts to stim or have her tantrums she is redirected and if that doesn't work than we we walk away but under NO circumstance does she get to refuse. If she was normal would you still take 3 days to comb her hair. Gentle parenting is the reason so many children grow up to reak havic on society because these new parents refuse to see wrong doing or bad behavior in their child special needs or not they have a sense of reasoning to a certain point.
