Thanks,i have never seen The Blob, only the 1980s remake and i liked that
Cinemassacre James watch the atomic brain if u haven't amazing old horror movie u will love it
Cinemassacre night of living dead is the best zombie movie ever👻
Cinemassacre did you get ypur taste in film from your parents or was it self developed?
no new Ghostbusters? sexist!!
lol
I can sit and watch James read a phone book for hours. There's just something about him that I find very enjoyable and relateable.
Honestly, Same.
Me to! I just turned 31, was born in 89. I think the nerd is 2 to 4 years older than me but that being said this may sound weird and i don't mean for it to but when he talks its like it takes me back home in some way. Everything about him screams 90's and I love it!! I hope he's as nice and as good a person in real life as he is on camera!
I agree
I agree, definitely something about him that generates charisma.
LEGENDS AND ICONS exactly!
James has to be the most genuine CZcamsr. The original
crh
I agree, him and Cr1tikal are the only two genuine, true to themselves CZcamsrs out there.

"As soon as they stop being awesome, that's when I'm old" - how I feel about your AVGN videos, James. Thanks for over a decade of great memories.
Looks like I'll be forever young then lol
@@zanytobbs This... didn't age well did it?
James Rolfe is the movie reviewing equivalent to Bob Ross - he's just so honest and affable
Fitting since Bob Ross was a childhood hero of his
James has *an overflowing amount of passion for movies* it´s contagious
I love how the guy who does AVGN is an amazing, articulate movie reviewer.
Michael Hill bro is named james rolfe laddie
i know??? did you read the comment?
Michael Hill you said “the guy who does avgn” how was i supposed to know you knew his name
He was film student. I guarantee most actors that are simply known for the comedic roles or personalities are vastly more knowledgeable and well versed in cinema theory and practice than people realize.
And just appears to be an all around good person that you could have a conversation with.
Damn James, u're really giving ur fans a serious piece of yourself with this video. 7 years in a special-Ed school... (That's neither here nor there, considering your passion isn't crippled by linear thinking) but I gotta respect someone who's gonna put themselves out there like that. love ya brutha.
Considering how well he’s done and how much specialized knowledge he needs to do it I’d say his intelligence is beyond the school’s ability to measure.

James Rolfe never ceases to amaze me.
the dude knows his shit , not like 99.7% of the internet (and probably somebody will ask me now " where do you know is 99.7% and not 99.5% ? what if its a WOMEN ? WHO WAS A MAN ? and shits like this )
I love the presentation of this list; very simple, very personal and very organic, I could feel the love for each movie in every statement despite it being only one or two sentences long. A few of these movies that I haven't seen I want to check out or others I've only given one watch I want to watch again. Can't wait for part 2 :)
deltasix thats because James has an authentic love for cinema.
Sylvester Stallone is a very underrated screenwriter
I agree. I love Sylvester Stallone :)
'The Woof Man' - gotta love that Philly accent
But he’s from jersey
I didn’t know he was from around were I live
I love James' voice. I could listen to him talking about random stuff forever. :D
I agree.
" Grand Theft Auto, the videogame, the movie" 😂
Yep I have it on DVD.. Lol..
James please do a 4-part miniseries of you reading a phone book. I'd enjoy it.
James was in special ed because he suffered from ColecoVision.
James 50 is not enough you should've done at top 100. I can hear your thoughts on movies all day.
o8thna Spliff I agree. In fact, James should just make a new series "My Favorite Films"
The plebs always demand more
At that point your just making a list of movies youve seen. Thats dumb.
@@billybatts9491 James has seen thousands of films so i'm sure he would have 100 favorites.
Transformers: The Movie was and is still awesome. I have a tradition of watching it every year.
Great video ... hoping that City Lights, Midnight Cowboy and Dr Strangelove sneak into the Top 25
Those are all great films, you have amazing taste
Funny side note about Evil Dead 2. In Germany, where I live, the german title they gave the film actually translates to: "Dance Of The Devils 2: Now they dance even more!" which I always found so silly. Why give the movie such a long title and such a silly one, as well?
James was special Ed? Interesting
i remember him saying once that he had ADD as a child
Redmond Farley all the best nerds do :D
StarmanDeluxe I believe it was in the M.C. Kids review but I always thought it was a joke
Redmond Farley Guess Special Ed was in a different time back in the 80s.
Lavon Media How was it different back then, compared to now?
Idea: Top 10 Films. That don't exist.
Films you want to see. You have a vision. But have never been made.
Example. War of the Worlds.
Set in the Victorian age like the book. And follows the plot and includes at least some, if not all the music from the musical.
Stanley Kubrick’s “Napoleon”
Nit Picker Stanley Kubrick's "Napoleon Dynamite"
Universal had unmade Dracula vs the Wolf Man IIRC
oh my god yes
Watchmen 2
All of the back to the future movies are amazing
I dunno part three was kinda weak
@@thewhoman3182 I agree. Ever since my childhood I always thought Part 2 was the best and Part 3 was somewhat lame
I don't know, maybe lame and weak aren't the right words. It just feels mostly unnecessary. I still enjoyed it though. That ending where they had to get the train to 88 was a true nail biter.
Cinemassacre presents "The Woofman"
I'm hyped to watch Part 2
I say It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World is his fav.
Chad Williams prob Gremlins
crapvile chickens
Animation King#1
yes. part 2. this is his top 50
and he only did 25.
Animation King#1 plus the title of this video says "part 1"
was my explanation necessary? I feel trolled....
Only 50? I was expecting at least Top 500.
Tuumis I don't see an issue with that. Hearing James talk for hours on end would be the greatest.
I don't even think I've seen that many movies in my life.
Haha, that would be amazing
Troodon You're missing out. Most average film watchers see about 100 movies a year. I see 1-2 movies a day, so for me it's like 400-500 movies a YEAR.
The Terminator 2 reference in Wayne's World is one of my favorite random cameos
There’s something so infectious about hearing James talk about things he likes. He has such a way of expressing his love for things.
I haven't seen most of these films, can't wait to watch them
teamaker Fox While it's his preference for favorites a lot of these are cheesy or down right terrible to me.
UltimateDrDoom scarface seems pretty cool, and fullmetal. but totally agree with you, still worth a try.
Watch Gojira/Godzilla (1954) it is a good one
I remember seeing the original list (in text) years and years ago.
I still haven't seen It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World...
Iván Sánchez it's great! definitely worth a watch.
Iván Sánchez It's one of the few movies that made me laugh as much as an adult as it did when I saw it as a kid. It may be a pretty old style movie, but it's dated in all the right ways.
Iván Sánchez Mad Mad World is such a classic hilarious movie with a great cast
You’re right James; I too would have a lot of trouble coming up w a top 50 list 🎉
James, you are simply adorable.
Did you ever get that damn chicken emote?
You are simply adorable, mate, if anyone is...
@@itsMrNoble That's adorable
He really is! 🥰
Lol
oooh, now we're talking.. I could listen to you for ages :D
B.R.A. Two Nerds Show right meow
He has a way, doesn't he
I don't give two shits about Baseball either, but Sandlot is an objectively great. Undoubtedly a movie of summer.
I can't stand that movie, probably because it reminds me of the kids who made it a point to exclude me from everything.
I really love seeing James doing these kinds of lists as himself with no Nerd involved. He´s so likeable and still passionate in his calmness. He seems so clear in why he loves these films so much.
The Welles War Of The Worlds incident was the biggest prank in history next to Trojan Horse in my opinion.
Only, it wasn’t as successful as it’s made out to be.
Everyone: The WOLfman
James: The WOOFfman
You should do a top 1000, and spend about 10 minutes talking about each of them. I enjoy hearing you talk about movies you like. And then Mike should do the same
Wont that change into a Documentary that could have talk about Documentaries? But I like the Idea.
Schmiku Edgar Wright did
For anyone to do a top 1000 would be impossible lol
So a video that is almost 7 days long?
Same. His reviews have this personal and honest feel yet they're also very informative and interesting.
you could say waynes world 2 is a lot like star trek the next generation. in many ways superior but will never get the same recognition as the original.
I cant take this anymore, it's giving me a headache...
@@darrellcovello7917 here take two of these
@@trevordecowski8140 little. Yellow. Different.
Does this guy know how to party, or what?
I dont know why, but I hate next generation, but i love the original
I would like to hear more about your experience in special education. I'm very intrigued.
school is a colossal waste of time, sure it was no different for him
Some predictions for part 2:Indiana jones, karate kid, ghost busters, original King Kong, brain dead, elm street, ET, terminator 2 etc
MyNdFrEaK420 T2 better be on there
MyNdFrEaK420 Mad Mad Mad Mad World will probably be #1.
MyNdFrEaK420 Can't forget Rocky
Jake G 2187 MMMMW would feel right at #1, or at least top 3
That movie is fantastic.
Knowing how James likes horror movies, I bet he'll put the Terminator before Terminator 2. Frankly, I think it's the better movie too.
Thanks for sharing your favorite movie list with us, James. Love all the choices and can't wait for part 2.
James said R. Lee Ermy taught him how to swear. Years later, the Angry Video Game Nerd taught ME how to swear.
Cinemssacre, best series on CZcams. And respect for having The Sandlot. Its way more than just baseball. Most young males can relate on some level. Big Chief, THE BEST.
The Woof Man.
Full Metal Jacket was a wild movie. One of my relatives showed it to me as a kid and it was scary but fascinating
James' passion for movies is infectious.
I am not a film buff by any stretch of the imagination, but I'll definitely watch some of these.
James, I love you man! I love seeing these commentary type videos that really display certain aspects of you as a person. I consider you a film authority!
Would love to hear more about that time spent in a special school and why that movie speaks to you so much, or at least as much as it does. I can understand why you would not, but you have realize your honesty can have a great and positive impact on others.
I hope you make your that video, and not a movie or something like that based on it. Just you, the camera, and the truth. Would be awesome.
Old movies really gave off vibes that are incomparable to movies these days
James, your speaking voice fits so well with the videos you do. I could listen for hours. It's strange, but maybe AVGN has become so nostalgic for me, when I hear your voice it takes me back.
The appreciation of back to the future /2 is enough for me to give you credit of what we have in today's cinema. You are a genius
HAHAHA that Scarface impression! EPIC!
Haha! That's awesome! Thanks!
James, I know you won't read this, but you need to watch Whiplash. It's very similar to Full Metal Jacket in that the meat of the movie is the amusing but horrific and profane bullying of the main character. Watching JK Simmons scream his lungs out like a drill sergeant is legendary.
GasMaskedGaming While there were aspects of that film I liked, (the editing, cinematography)I felt it misrepresented what jazz is about, and made it seem like it requires a strict militaristic discipline, instead of creativity and improvisational skills, to become a professional jazz musician.
The film wasn't about jazz, it was about what happens if a musician (or any artist really) gets too obsessive and determined with their work. Yes, Andrew pushed himself enough to become a legendary musician, but he pushed himself so far that his passion for jazz is permanently dead. A pyrrhic victory.
James, you are so good with words when it comes to explaining things. Big fan thanks for the years of laughs!
James and Mike make my childhood feel relatively normal, because not only were we all born in 1980, but we seemed to all be obsessed with videogames, science fiction (nothing new there)...but old movies too, which none of my friends really were. Right out of the gate, he picks War of the Worlds as #50, which I happened to be obsessed with from probably the age of 4 or 5 when it would air on Halloween. I remember I wanted to rush home from trick-or-treating so that I could watch it. Ever since, it's become my Halloween tradition, even to this day.
All in all, a pretty solid list. If I had to choose my Top 10, it would be something along the lines of Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Back To The Future, Robocop, Total Recall, Predator, Aliens, Alien, E.T., Fight Club, Memento, War of the Worlds, The Time Machine etc.
I almost am inclined to acquire and watch all fifty of these films just because it's James Rolfe.
I loves James's passion, I only really started getting into movies in the last 3 years, and I feel so damn far behind. Granted I've watched about 200 movies in that time.
Awesome James! Love to hear your take on these which helped shape your passion for filmmaking
I swear every time James talks about something he makes me want to check it out. Like I'm about to watch (or rewatch) every movie on this list
The fact that Evil Dead 2 the top 80's horror movie from James' Monster Madness era list only made #44 was surprising🤔
Awesome List , I'm hyped for part 2
fantastic breakdown on those movies. Not enough info to give away everything, but a nice morsel to build the intrigue to those who haven't watched them.
can't wait for the next part!
Back to the Future Part 2 is my favourite BTTF movie.
Just because of how it uses time travel, with the future, an alternate timeline, going back to the previous movie, having alternate versions of characters meeting one another.
Also can we just admire Thomas F Wilson in those movies. He plays adult bully Biff, young bully Biff, adult wimp Biff, old man Biff, adult evil rich Biff, Griff, and Buford.
1 . Gigli
2 . The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas
3 . The Room
The challenge,to watch these back to back while maintaining your sanity
Robert Whitley is The Room really that bad?
Robert Whitley the flintstones movies are great
Add Faithful Findings and you have a great night of drinking
You'relyingineverhityou! Youre tearing me apart Lisa!!!
Phreaker He's only saying it's bad because of the recent Nostalgia Critic.Kids see his reviews and automatically think the movies reviewed are terrible, that Flintstones movie isn't great but it's not terrible for a kids movie and certainly isn't in the same tier as The Room
A lot of movies I've added to my IMDb Watch List because of you, James.
This was a phenomenal list. I was actually a little bit surprised to agree with so many of your choices, and it made me want to watch all of the films I haven't seen.
I would sit here ALL day watching James talk about his favorite movies!
You can always tell a professional by how they stipulate things. How clearly you explain the difference between your personal opinion and cinematic value is expertly done.
I bet James will have King Kong and It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World for the top two.
Manic8anorexic
I think I remember on a James and Mike Monday (or some other video) where he said that Mad mad mad mad world was indeed his favorite movie.
This is great James! Keep up this kind of content, it's much appreciated.
I like how quickly he gods through each part. He gets his point and moves on. Its nice.
Nice dude this is an amazing video well done bro ☺
I appreciate how challenging & time consuming this list must have taken. Great list.
Great list, James! Thanks for sharing, and I look forward to Part 2!
Ed Wood was one of my inspirations as an artist too. I may not have a band, or support, or a budget, but I f'in make my music anyway. You just gotta make things happen. i always enjoy watching your reviews and avgn stuff.
James was in special ED? just when i couldn't relate to him more.
These kinds of movie review are still the most enjoyable and rewatchable to me among all these years
James, you recording the American Godzilla on audio to seem like a radio broadcast.....you are a true artist. Some who wants to experience what they are feeling. I love it
On your list, so far, mine would include: Evil Dead 2, Plan 9 from Outer Space, Scarface, Groundhog Day, and Psycho. My top 9 would include Vertigo, Rear Window, Silence of the Lambs, Lawrence of Arabia, Gandhi, Titanic, Goodfellas, Casablanca, and American Psycho. I pretty much like all of those films the same depending on my mood, sorry for OCD people that I couldn't round it off to 10.
I love Transformers: The Movie
I watch the least movies out of anyone I know, but I very much enjoyed this video and I'm definitely gonna watch some of the movies listed. Can't wait for part 2, it's gonna be great.
The only movie countdown list in CZcams worth watching! Can't wait for the next part!
great video, looking forward to next week
Me three!
The best way to describe scarface: YOU WANNA PLAY ROUGH SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!
love your list, james. made me smile to notice some films we both appreciate
Love these types of videos! Can't wait for part 2!
You told the Groundhog Day the way that I always felt it, I like this perpespective :D
Fun fact: the angry nerd has been influenced by the angry swearing drill sergeant in Full Metal Jacket.
Thank you James, Mike, Ryan and anyone else who helps out/works for Cinnemassacre!
i love these james rolfe videos where he talks about things that are important to him. keep it up!
The blob was filmed in my town
my personal top 9:
1. scarface (1983)
2. the texas chainsaw massacre (1974)
3. reservoir dogs (1992)
4. pulp fiction (1994)
5. the decline of western civilization part 1 (1981)
6. cheech and chong: up in smoke (1978)
7. back too the future (1985)
8. the breakfast club (1985)
9. the terminator (1984)
So glad you decided to do this series
Ur content never disappoints. Definitely one of the best CZcams channels out there. I'm never disappointed after watching one of ur vids. I absolutely love AVGN and never skip past the intro because the opening theme song is just to damn funny. Thanks and keep it up!
Congrats on your new baby James!
Rambo is not "at fault" he was being treated poorly and reacted to it as he should have, otherwise that sheriff would have done the same thing (and probably has) to others.
Great video, James. Can't wait for Part 2.
Awesome list. Lots of movies I'd forgotten about and a lot of ones I'd never heard of but have started watching. Much better than other top lists I've read.
