ULTRAKILL - Various ways to fight Guttertanks

- EDIT 2: Brutal difficulty was added and alongside making their rockets harder to avoid, there’s no parry window on whiffed punches like seen in this release-patch video… UNLESS you’ve used the Firestarter’s alt fire near where they are attempting to punch, which causes them to slide and trip as they were made to do on Violent difficulty. It’s unreliable since they sometimes wander away instead of immediately trying to sock you, but it sure looks cool.
EDIT 1: This video was made on the release patch for Violence; they're way easier to deal with now since if they whiff a punch they'll stagger with a parry window. Their rockets also won't get amped by Freezeframe until you ride them, too. Other than their aggression, everything in this video is still applicable.
There's a lot you can do with these guys even if they're scary at first. They're tailor-made to get bullied by magnets and Freezeframe (four amped rockets kill if they're all direct hits), but it's not too hard to fight them conventionally as long as you respect the crazy reach on their melee attack.
Magnets drastically reduce their range, so tagging a nearby enemy (or the Guttertank itself) makes it a lot easier to move around.
Unlike rockets fired by the player, their rockets can be attracted to magnets sent after the rocket is instantiated.
Unless you whiplash or ride on their rockets, they do not take any damage from their own shots. They harmlessly slide around until they hit something else.
The 'Round Trip' instakill requires that you return a rocket to the Guttertank that shot it after riding it for any period of time. Magnets make this easier, but raw steering works just fine. If you know it'll land, jumping off before impact saves you some health.
Healing off of them isn't trivial, but you can parry the mines they leave around and even use them to break Gutterman shields.
1:18 bro his torso's gone
"skadeedle skadjest
off goes your chest"
That looks so funny being punched away like that while every other part just drops
"I've had enough of you, go to the stratosphere"
it was destined to be the thumbnail
This moment sent me
0:31 the way the Guttertank just runs away is like "oh shit oH SHIT OH SHIT AAAAAAAA-"
I like everything else in the video is like "use gun" or "return the attack" and then the final way is just "be god"
I could've fought them normally (effortlessly thanks to magnets+freezeframe) since an infinite number of Guttertanks is solved by a single magnet, but I thought the constant hitstop from hitting the rockets was funny and wanted to make a skit out of it
Dude, I can't stop laughing at the comical cut at 0:17
He realised he made the wrong move, tried run a meter away and exploded. The cut was the cherry on top
1:19 that was one hell of a punch
0:56 mayo guttertank speedrun any%
Not legit. You need to spam the Charge Shot on the Stock Piercer for it to be a true mayo% run.
finally an enemy that calls out run up shotgun spam and mindless ricochets and encourages mindful mid-range combat and usage of freezeframe
Damn my playstyle got called out lol
Do you mean guttermen or guttertanks? Because all guttermen encourage is healing to full constantly by giving super easy parries
you're a fucked up individual for calling out my shotgun swap into run away tossing coins strat
@@dinoaurus1 guttertanks obviously
@@thyholynoodle6282 trust me mine got called out as well when i got punched into oblivion lmao
Guttertanks are the new mindflayers in my book,
if there's only 1, its close to impossible to die...
But, if there are more than 1... in a crowd... well...
Death
except i don't want to rail guttertanks and the opposite is true for mindflayers
Those gutterfucks (as i call them) have more hp than pinos i swear
@@marvin4925what do you mean the railcannon is good for gutter tanks *clueless*
@@roiwelboren9302 keep yourself safe
That one room in 7-4 though
Tip: Not sure if Guttermans do it too but, Guttertanks can actually predict when you hook them. If you realise, they attack a little bit earlier when you hook knowing your high speed doing it. This show how good these machines are.
yeah, they lead their melees like they lead their shots, which is why you can loop them
Yeah, i was testing them with different enemies and when put against mannequins they begin a punch while the mannequin is still scuttling towards them
Honestly found them annoying to fight at first but due to this guide I might learn, thanks :>
0:56 not the dinky-ass pistol i would've been so offended
1:18
the idea was to show that you can loop their melee without spending resources and just shoot them with your straightforward weapons of choice, and what better way than with the dinky-ass pistol that only gets a limb bonus at best against them?
@@Draycos324 nefarious
2:23 i find it so funny how these guttertanks are pretty much made to be the counter to the metal monstrosity that single handedly ended trench warfare and yet you can beat a horde of them with a really strong magnet and a portable energy source, materials civilians (or at least engineers or regular soldiers) probably had access to.
Well its not like the guttertanks had Magnets with them in the case of the enemy using a tool that was repurposed to be a rocket launcher
they probably sent a shitton of them at once
The fact that they're specifically made to counter guttermen is also proven by the fact that their punch one-shots guttermen
1:18 idk but this shit was funny af
I just like how this punch meant to be harmless, but his torso just flies away at super speed and then the rest of his body explodes.
Me: Barely hit my little brother
How he described it:
1:18 "i said watch yo tone"
I love how its torso went flying at 1:18 without the rest of its body
Now seeing that I can surf a Guttertank's rocket back at him for an instakill, he is no longer scary
Me: *playing 7-4*
The Earthmover's giant laser beam: 2:32
1:04 bro ran out of battery.
...but can you return big john's rockets?
You can Freeze Frame them, so probably
You don't need to. Simply activating freezeframe mkes him kill himself.
You can just sit his rocket to return it
If you whiplash the rocket at the exact time it was fired it hits the guttertank (maybe also while walking towards him)
Yes
i personally have almost to no issues with guttertanks as i can just keep my distance away and do multiple projectile boosts
my main issue comes with mannequins, i cannot defeat them consistently
I find parries effective against them. If you successfully parry their melee or their projectile, you also recover all your health
they're extremely vulnerable to parrying on both of their attacks pretty much instakilling them. also you can
parry their homing projectile for health very easily too
Saw is very good against them in the main levels
you can also instakill mannequins with a punch while they’re mid-air (you can easily get them into this state by damaging them while they are clinging to walls ir ceilings)
They have a resistance to explosions. Parrys make it easy cheesy
+ROUND TRIP is so huge.
You've mastered the art of comedic and funny cuts, you made me giggle. Get that juicy like from me xD
this is my favorite ultrakill video yet
1:18 the way he just punches the shit out of him bro. 😂😭
Great guide
2:04 POV: ur the last Gutterman in your regiment watching the enemy approach
Guttertanks are absolutely the new top priority enemies. If there's even more than one you always have to play around it to not get Game Over'd. However the mines are an easy and plentiful way to heal, since it counts as a parry. It's definetely an enemy that does feel unfair at times, but once you play his game he can become manageable. Hard, but manageable.

How our parents went to school:
For anyone wondering, they are getting a balance patch soon
Is it confirmed or just speculation?
There’s a tweet Hakita made saying that he’ll add a paryyable move to the guttertanks.
couldnt find said tweet
@@prometheus9732
@@prometheus9732landmines are already parryable though?
This video helped me when i was in a dark place...
7-2 and 7-3 are pretty dark levels yeah
the other way is silly string
Is it just me or does the Guttertanks remind me of Zaku from Gundam.
If you think that fighting guttertanks is easy, this is how final war must've looked like: 2:03
the most efficient way to kill a guttertank seems to be dealing damage
It took a lot of experimentation to discover this myself. Sadly, that technique doesn't appear to work if there's an idol protecting it
I'll have to use the Rocket laucher from now... UUUUUHHGGGGGGG LET'S GO!
My boy Eduard didn't need a nerf.
sounds like they'll get their original behavior on a higher difficulty
1:18 very funny
1:18
holy shit lmao
Now you can parry them. That fall animation really makes them look silly.
1:19 his body kinda went *lego piece destroying sound*
Me: Dude, Attractor and Frezzerframe are kinda useless
This guy: 0:09
Me: Dude, Attractor and Frezzerframe are kinda broken
these guys were definitely built to give Attractor/Freezeframe more value
Hope you do more ultrakill content
appreciate the help because…THE FUCKING TC-EARTHMOVER ESCAPE SEQUENCE ONES ARE SO BULLSHIT MY GO-
The funniest part on my opinion
1:18
I legitimately believe that the final arena of 7-4 is harder than P-2
Most deranged take imaginable
nah
0:35 good guide + comically cut explosions
0/10, can parry the punch of king minos but not these bad boys
1:18 I like ye cut G!
V1 reaction when Guttertank dont have blood : ☹️
for gutter dudes i tend to just fill em with nails and get the conductor bonus
Thanks bro i hate this fat v2 so much
YOU CAN PARRY MINES?1
Yeah and they heal you too so it's basically a health pack
+LANDYOURS
me when freezeframe rocket
You can also parry them kinda when they punch and you give them a wack if the miss the punch
Wasn't a thing when this video was recorded, but It's a valid way to fight them now.
2:04 average 7-2 experience
YOU CAN PARRY THE LANDMINES?!?!
1:18
Those are some funny ragdolls.
1:18 💀
Could just throw 4 coins in the air and shoot them with alt piercer and one will die but cool vid
The clip at 1:09 shows there's more than enough time to do just that, and consistently.
The goal of this video was to show ways to control them without burning all your coins or rail BECAUSE those options are so strong. "Just nuke them with the highest damage combos" stops working when you fight a sufficient number of enemies and have to pick and choose which you evaporate; you only get the one rail and four coins until they need to recharge. Being able to manipulate enemy types and fight them with other tools makes for robust play! I think it's what the game's harder fights goad you to do, and P-2's stage portion is built very carefully around it too.
Using saws is arguably overkill in that selfsame way, but with magnets interfering with them as is, they make great candidates for saw traps whether for damaging them or enemies they wander into, so I gave that a pass...
How is everyone able to ride guttertank rockets it just explodes when I jump on it :(
Have to freeze it with blue rocket's alt fire first; the guttertank's own freeze doesn't count
Im sorry but
Me: Barely hit my little brother
Also how he described it: 01:18
I thought to fight them using rockets, though i just shoot them randomly and for me, did not have time to right-click
trying to freeze his rockets do not work
tested it just now and it worked as expected even on Brutal; maybe it was a bug with the previous patch v.15 that was then fixed with v.15b?
why do i call them "minesweepers"
Becuase they sweep mines
in short, use their own weapons against them.
they didint deserve the Nerf
Their original incarnation will probably come back on a higher difficulty.
@@Draycos324 GUESS WHAT
@@danielschons7691 yeah, and the Firestarter interaction is pretty cool too
Wait when did freezeframe become an actual HYDROGEN BOMB?????
Since this update dropped
Ploop iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii eouaoeoeou ploop iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
IS YOUR ICON MARIO BROS TERRORIST LOUIS??
Yes
What's the difficulty?
This video was recorded on Violent, which is the highest difficulty at the time it was made.
On Brutal, their AI is slightly more aggressive and they only trip after whiffing punches if the ground has been slicked with Firestarter oil.
my opinion. coin does funny
Bro You gifme THE data
I wonder if there’s anything actually discernible in their voice lines or if it’s just garbled nonsense.
to my ears, their punches are very distinctly paced like "go to HELL" and the radio chatter minelaying sfx sounds like "placed down trap"
@@Draycos324”place a mouse trap”
hey I hear it
