As an American kid I can assure you it really doesn’t matter, we’re not interested in books period, even I only got to order of the Phoenix when I stopped reading. Gonna pick it back up again, that’s why I’m here.

Bought all three of the illustrated editions this afternoon and just finished the first novel. I think it must’ve been over a decade since I last read it, been just doing movie marathons instead. There were many small details I’d forgotten which were left out of the movie
Thoughts I had while reading -
- Those three “adults” actually left baby Harry out in the open, at night, all alone on the floor 😱 talk about child endangerment
- Hagrid attacking Dudley course he was pissed at Vernon was really wrong. This grown ass giant of a man just assaulted an 11 year old kid cause he was pissed at his dad

The books never explained how harry was able to control his random magic out bursts, like making the glass disappear and reappear. All we know is that a negative emotion activates it... but why? what about positive emotions. The wand helps direct the magic, but harry doesn't always have the wand in his hand, and what about the other wizard students, nothing ever random ever happened to them (not talking about bad spell casting)
Harry Potter has piss poor magic system. That's all this shows

Thank you so much. I watched the movie a few days ago, and despite understanding most of the plot, there were a few things that didn't make sense to me. Despite this being a summary of the book, it still helped me understand the missing key points in the movie-plot. Now I can peacefully go on to watch the 2nd movie 😀
