1099 might have been the going price 2 yrs ago but it's pushing $1500.00 in 2022 and honestly nothing has changed in the time master. For $1500.00 residential or not this mower should have come with more commercial features such as a 1 gallon tank which come on, the current tank with a 223cc engine is ridiculous. People are having to modify adding a 1 gallon tank to do large yards. The pulley spindles are still cheap like the 196cc model that was under powered and wear out which is another thing that people are modifying with commercial pulleys. Let's talk about the plastic flap that's supposed to be a safety feature. It breaks, it breaks a lot especially if you cut in a low setting which it gets chewed up by the blades if you pull back on the mower. People are having to modify that using tough rubber. Then there's the transmission which still fails often other than a few minor improvements it's still to underpowered even more so with the 223cc and the weight of the mower. And finally there's the foam in these tiny gas tanks that actually serve no purpose other then keeping you supposedly from over filling the gas tank but actually effects the gas volume and then there's moisture build up especially if your tank is low or empty which it sucks up the moisture and holds it that will effect your gas the next time you fill up especially if you live in a humid state but that's not all. Over time that foam will begin to break down and guess what? It'll clog the gas tank, your carburetor and eventually get sucked into your engine. When I pay money especially $1500.00 plus extra warranties that raise the price over $1800.00 I expect solid well thought out quality build, not equipment that is a high risk for breaking down. I've seen how toro has started pushing bad quality the moment they put those no oil change engines on their products as well as cheap quality constructed decks. Ask me how many times I've had to replace the plastic recycler logo bumper on my new 22 inch high wheel personnel pace recycler. No wash out port, and what's really upsetting is the cheap plastic shroud around the blade that's a safety issue. Yes vortex my ass, it's nothing short of a gimmick that is made of cheap plastic and clogs up not to mention will likely break the moment a rock or something hits it. My personal pace I had before that had a wash out port, came with the side discharge and was 18 Guage steel underneath other than the cover that protected the belt but was of sturdy construction and safety build. Toro is going down hill with this crap, yet the company refuses to hear the actual complaints. They only make adjustments if it's to get a few people to buy their products. I'm buying the time master knowing what I'm getting into, however the extra expense coming out of my wallet to improve a mower that should have already been improved upon since the earlier model is troublesome. I absolutely hate money sinks, in fact I'll go out of my way to ruin any company that has bad business practices. I'm not telling people to not buy the time master but I'm making them aware of what they're getting into and should plan ahead to make these changes early on so they can enjoy their equipment over a long term use. The seller said it himself in this video that he's personnelly never used the time master and even that boasting the turf master hasn't been seen in for repairs yet he never once mentioned the time masters track record 🙄. From a user to the salesman. Stop pitching how great your product is especially if you have never personally owned one. Be honest about products because it's always the actual buyer who has to make videos about that equipment even if it's a negative review of companies say for instance Toro. Want to back your products then fine, take them home and use them for about a year and give an honest review of that product, don't make yourself look like a snake oil salesman.

Apparently the engineers at Toro did Not test drive their HDX models much. If they had of, they would have noticed immediately that the units are not very manueverable. In fact, the operator has to literally "fight" the mower in curves and turns. Sorry, but that is just the way it is. The transmission "locks in" and it just does not want to let you turn the mower without a struggle.
Say what you want about the first models like the 22200 but they handled wonderfully. Very intuitive and productive without ANY fight. The handle design was easy on the hands versus this current setup which is better on the cables but hard on the hands.
Having owned many Toro commercial mowers, the vast majority have been incredible Machines. And I am sad that the new Turfmaster isn't one of them.
    Enjoyed your entertaining video though!

I've had the Toro Time Master 30" for 10 years. I put $350 total in repairs/maintenance in it in all that time. It takes me about 1.5 hours to mow my property (different levels, lots of obstacles). In ten years I had to put it in for service once. I would say I definitely got my money's worth out of it.

My 2017 Timemaster bought new in 2018 lasted 5 years 1,000 hours of commercial use installed heavy duty idler pulleys when i bought new. Just replaced engine with Kohler 224. So easy to start. Also had to replace everything but the trans but did have to replace the plastic trans pulley. The heavy duty idler pulleys are still good. I was cutting a 2 acre field for first couple years with it. In Maryland heat and humid. wet grass. Is it perfect no. but its not junk. Learn to work on things yourself. Just got the G5 Blades and love them. 6 inches of cutting edge per blade VS 4 on stock and they stay sharp for a week.

I have a late 2013 Timemaster B&S 190CC Intek, electric start. Overall, been a great mower, I can get 2.5 cuts with the same tank of gas. Overall power is pretty good too. The weakest spot I’ve found is the BBC cable will break at the handle due to it’s plastic. A new cable is cheap and easy to replace yourself, but inconvenient when you need to get the grass cut. It’s good to keep a spare, and as far as the internal battery-I’m still using the original going on 7 years now. My worry now is how much life does the sealed tranny have left. Not to mention, I have replaced several belts/parts over the last year for light residential use. Considering an electric Toro now for my small yard, but an extra battery is $250-350 for a mower that sells for $500 when new. So I guess I’m between a rock and a hard place. Just my input on these mowers, but a great info video.

If you had to buy only one Turfmaster HDX, which motor would you buy? I was all set to buy the Kohler version, but my dealer says I should buy the Kawasaki as the motor will last significantly longer and be a quieter and smoother engine. His Toro rep said he sells 8 Kawasaki to 2 Kohler. Other lawn pros on CZcams seem to like the power of the Kohler. It looks like the Exmark version now has the Kohler, so I am not sure what to do! Why do both turfmaster commercial models have smaller displacement and torque specs than the residential 223cc model? I still don't understand why they did that. I have a the 21200 timemaster and was thinking about getting the turfmaster 22210 (I'm getting a heck of a deal) for some residential yards I mow. The specs show the the timemaster has better gross HP and gross Torque.

    • @mainstreetmower

I wanted the superrecycler but it was timemaster or a junk brand ... it’s an awesome mower but horrible at going up a steep ditch ... soooo massively heavy even with rear wheel drive ! It’s a great mower BUT very tiny gas tank so I have to keep refilling the gas tank after just a little bit of cutting and that’s using premium gas ! It also is super hard to push when the gas runs out because self propelled feature only works when it’s on … so when it’s out of gas and you have to push it …. It’s super heavy to move … it’s great for the height options and easy to use but it needs a much larger gas tank for sure !!!

joseph puchel the Turfmaster is marketed as a commercial mower. Lots of pros use the Timemaster instead because it’s cheaper, but that doesn’t make sense to me. They’ll buy two of them, knowing one is going to go down on them, and then only expect to get a few years out of them. Granted, it’s too early to tell, but I’d wager the Ferris is going to be a lot longer lasting machine and more reliable. One thing that might make me consider the Turfmaster would be front caster wheels.

That's really a very subjective question. Depends entirely on the user, the conditions it is being used in, the environment it is being parked in, and a lot more factors. However, if you take care of it properly, always park it in a garage, blow dry it after use, it might just last you longer than 10 years.

I watched this review and bought the Toto 30 inch Timemaster. I need everyone to know that this is the biggest piece of junk I have ever owned and Toro does not stand behind their warranty. I have had belts dislodge, belts stretched so that the mower blades wobble and cut the lawn like a drunken bum. I have had failure of the gas to get into the engine due to the improper design of the the gas cap. There is a fix for that but Toro only does it when your engine fails. All complaints and problems were met with Toro saying these were wear and tear issues and are not covered. Today, after 20 hours of total use white smoke started coming out of the engine. What can I say other than that is you buy a Toro timemaster you will regret it. You have been warned.

When i go to Home depot i see them lined up. At first I thought there where used on sale in the tool rental area., They where all broken down with issues being repaired. Not one Honda. It's always Toro. So here's some further proof Toro is crap. Ask any landscaper. Landscapers have and use Bradley, ExMark, Turf Beast and Ferris.
