    Lightweight is good and what did I use it for it’s a lawnmower czcams.com/users/postUgkxTPN04aT-Qdjr_KS3ql7ng8wnU3wwsCqk also recommend Yes it is lightweight so hence not as robust as our old one. But if you take care it does the job really well.

    This is an excellent video brother. I'd love to get one of these in my own hands just to see how they do for myself, as I know every yard and every business does things a little differently of course. But I feel like the price and its weight would really set me back for my needs but who knows it could surprise me. Great video again you touch some excellent points that I agree with 💪

    Great mower..but I have had the blade cable mount break at the bend..fatigued metal...a week later, the blade cable broke inside the sheath.
    Both incidents happened 2 weeks after purchase here in Tulsa....my mower distributer replaced both parts next day under warranty....But..dont mess with adjusting the blade cable. It's set from the factory.
    Also, I was given the castor wheel kit because it was suppose to have been on the promotional unit.
    I highly recommend installing the castor wheel kit...picking the unit up and turning the mower gets old..quick .
    Scag has already been notified of the cable issues and bends in the cables...

    I watched another video yesterday of a lawn guy using a timemaster bagging a backyard in wet conditions.He made a point of saying,with wet grass in bagger,mower weighs in at around 200 pounds and leaves ruts in damp lawns.I would imagine this scag sinking down to the deck,plus scalping in the process.The weight could be a deal breaker

  • @zmbigmr
    @zmbigmr Před 3 lety +2

    Since the cut height works off one lever, are you able to add rake to the blade(s). While the Exmark takes extra time to change cut height, having the ability to put the front of the deck lower than the back, keeping front and back even or having the front higher than the back adds a lot of versatility to mowing different types of grass and wet or dry conditions.

    Had a lawn business for close to 30 years. Mostly commercial and very large residential estates. As far as 36" mowers, I started out with ex-marks...within 5-6 years, converted all to Scags. Scags are built for abuse, ex-marks are made from pop-cans...
    I will add this, if you do buy the Scag, familiarize yourself with the location of the zirc fittings, and the proper greasing schedule.

    I like that someone built a non-timed deck in this class. It seems heavy-duty. From what I see, I'll wait for Version 2.
    1. It needs a separate variable speed lever that can be adjusted separately from the engagement lever.
    2. The bagger attachment design seems like a deal breaker.
    3. The controls seems not the best ergonomic design - the controls should be to the outside of the handles to expedite turnarounds.

      Hydro? Hard to find hydro at this price point. It's all belts. Although it does use the General Transmissions MV 702 transmission, which seems to be a reliable unit for delivering torque-based power. So... no hydro, and reverse is your shoulders, lower back and thighs.

    • @tallens5280
      @tallens5280 Před 3 lety

      @@47f0 I just looked it up on the Scag website. My dealer actually said it was hydro. I'm waiting a while on my decision for a commercial 30. The shorter wheelbase on the Exmark/Toro is more appealing to me. I had a Timemaster for a short time and sold it. Bad engine.

    • @47f0
      @47f0 Před 3 lety

      @@tallens5280 - This decision is easy. You should definitely get the Scag SFC 30.
      Why? Because you will have the only hydro SFC 30 on the planet, and that's got to be worth something. I'm looking at the SFC 30 manual. Starting on page 38, there's a very nice breakdown of all the parts. Please feel free to download that manual yourself from the Scag website and show me where any of those parts show any hydraulic components at all. If it helps, the breakdown for the rear drive is on page 48. On page 31 is a table of regular maintenance. At 400 hours you're supposed to replace the transmission drive belt. It tells you when to change the oil. It talks about the type of fuel to use. But nowhere does it mention anything about hydraulic fluid.
      I'm not sure what you were looking at on the Scag website, but if your dealer insists that the SFC 30 is a hydro machine, he's either not being honest, or he doesn't know his own product. Either one is sufficient to make me look for another dealer.
      Looking at the SFC 30, it's clear that Scag tried to scale a commercial elephant down to mouse size. What they ended up with was a very heavy mouse. The SFC 30 looks like it would be pretty great at mowing wide open spaces. But wide open spaces is what you should be using the 48-in zero turn for anyway. You grab a 30-in to get into the smaller places that your big zero turn can't get to, and here's where Scag failed. Nothing about the ergonomics, or the set and run with it speed control, or the sheer weight of 220 lb suggest that Scag even remembered what a 30-in mower's supposed to be used for.

    @ 8:44 This mower is heavy as hell! I had a Toro turfmaster that was lighter than this Scag, and turning it was bit$h! There's no way I'd buy the much heavier Scag 30" SFC30..... NO WAY! ..... I "downgraded" to a much lighter Toro Timemaster, which is very easy to turn.

    • @lcwservice3247
      @lcwservice3247  Před 3 lety +2

      It isn’t light for sure but it’s not much more heavy then our 30 commercial ex marks and toros. The time master is lighter but it’s a residential unit with less power, a more thin deck and a non commercial transmission. We have used both and sell both. They each of there pros and cons.

    • @47f0
      @47f0 Před 3 lety

      I concur with your "downgrade" to the Timemaster. It turns out those "fluff" convenience features for residential use just happen to be pretty convenient if you're pushing one of these units around for six hours. For reference, the SCAG is 220 lbs - the Timemaster is 140. About the only consistent deficiencies of the Timemaster are, you can't go half the day on a tank of gas, and the blade timing belt tension and idle pulleys are weak - upgrade those to the eXmark pulleys ASAP. To be such a "residential" piece of equipment, I see a surprising number of Timemasters on commercial trailers - and looking at their equipment, it's not because they couldn't afford more.
      And I haven't seen any Timemasters falling apart because they're lighter - like split decks or bent attachment points - which makes me wonder why heavier is really needed?
      The main thing they try to do with commercial equipment is make it idiot and bomb proof - not necessarily better to use. This Scag 30" looks to me as though it would be a pretty good mower for wide open spaces - the kind where you'd be better off on a 48" zero turn, anyway. They lost the whole point of making a smaller mower more usable for smaller spaces.

      It’s a good not great mulching mower. “Tall grass” does that mean 8in cutting down to 3 in? Then no it doesn’t mulch well. 6in cutting to 4in it does fine Kawasaki Fj 180’s will hydro lock fairly easily if over filled with oil. Pull the spark plug and crank the engine to evacuate the cylinder and of course drain excess oil. But the engine ceasing after 33 hrs is a Kawasaki issue. Scag SP 30 is just to much mower for my application and age Good luck.
