Thankyou for this. I’m almost done with the printing so the timing on this video is perfect.
This is my favorite board game ever. I love your dedication to this game. Super jealous of all the awesome builds
Thanks! Did you end up getting the reprint?
It looks great, thanks for sharing. Love your Hero Quest sign :)
Uh-HUuuul!! It was about time!!! Thank you!!!
I love the Dragons Rest sci-fi Outpost set. Going to be printing Star Saga and Project Pandora tilesets. The fantasy dungeon set would be great for Dungeon Saga. I'd love to do a buried temple set for Stargrave with Egyptian themed undead. A Strange Brigade theme campaign set in space.
I primed these in November 2020. They are probably ready for paint lol.
I thought I could resist, but I gave in and started printing the new pre-assembled rooms/hallways from Dragon's Rest! I only painted about 1/3rd of my original board and then my heart wasn't in it to finish it once he released those new layouts. Have you ever tried a stippling technique on 3D printed stuff? I've noticed it's great for hiding layer lines, especially on top surfaces. The instant you hit those with a dry brush, all the layers pop out :(
Stippling is a great idea! Yes, dry brushing definitely makes the layers stand out more.
Background music brought to you by "3D Printer". 😁
Heroquest .... I see a Dunegon bowl pitch before me !!
I seem to have missed this, what is the final size of the layout when fully printed and assembled?
print them in 45° tilt to get better detail resolution
When printing the floor/wall/set tiles on your Prusa...Do you print them flat (on its back) or vertically (on a side)? What settings did you use?
I print the floor tiles flat and the wall tiles vertically (in other words, I don't rotate the files and print as-is). I print at .2mm height with 10% infill.
wow beautiful ! What are the total dimensions of the game board ?
Hi do you have to primer the? I pri ted all the parts in dark grey filament.
What walls do you use with Dragon Rest's new set? I just finished painting and printing the "thin" complete set. But like the idea of the exploration newer set he put out. Mainly if he is going to start doing the expansion tiles, and allows me to mix/match ghoul berg to create new adventures/quests. Any case. walls. None of the walls he has out work with these. the gap coverage he tired to fix is still there unless I am missing where he put the walls.
The normal magnetic walls don't work with the new set? I was assuming that's what fits on them.
@@gaminggeek241 No. It's still offset. Of Course I could be using the wrong wall set? His organization has something left to be desired but I have searched and didn't find another set of walls. The rooms have closer set spaces than the walls do as well as the walls being just a bit too long.
@@gbiolchini1 Try posting your question the Dragon's Rest Facebook site and you should be able to get an answer soon. Good luck!
@@gaminggeek241 Ian never got back to me but I posted in Discord. Seems everyone made the same assumption you did. Took a minute BUT what was found is that the standard wall and the corner piece is all you need for the rooms. DUN wall S1 and Corner S1. So it uses far fewer wall types.
@@gbiolchini1 Good to know! Thanks for following up.
So, first white primer, then painting?
He also came up with a new clip system with cylindrical magnets. This makes it a little cheaper than using the ball magnets (these got crazy expensive over last year or so.). Will these clips work with your community tiles? I may have to print a sample and check. Appreciate these videos!
Yes, theoretically, they should work since they still fit the slots in the walls and floors. I haven't tested it though.
@@gaminggeek241 I’m printing some now and will check it out.
@@toddzino58 How did testing go? Do you have an amazon link to the magnets you used? I planned on using the single magnet vs double but I want to make sure the magnets I get are strong enough. I'm new petreon and about to embark on this project for the 2021 version of Hero Quest that I still have to get a copy of :D
Any ideas on where to find the thicker STL floor tiles for magnets? I joined the Patreon and the files you reference have been archived. :(
I went to the Dropbox and still see them there. Follow this file path: 002 Dungeon Set/Floor Tiles and you will see all of the thicker ones in there.
@@gaminggeek241 Thanks! Those seem to be the clip based. Are magnet based ones just your remix with the thinner tiles?
@@GadgetJoseph You use the same bases but with different clips that hold the magnets. So you have a clip that holds a 5mm ball magnet or Ian came out with one that holds two barrel magnets side-to-side.
Have the cave pieces come to dragons rest yet?
Yes, Ian did come out with cave pieces.
Hi Gaminggeek, would your Dragon Rest Heroquest board be for sale at all?
Sorry, my board is not for sale. I think there are others who are selling the board on Etsy, although I don't think it is painted.
@@gaminggeek241 No problem, thank you for letting me know. Also please continue with the great content, your channel is super awesome and informative. 👍🏻
May wanna add an update caption that its 9 dollars a month now :( Oopa and now i see Robert stated that 3 weeks ago lol
He upped the price to $9
Techniques are nice but can you please hold the tiles still, the constant moving is extremely distracting. Thank you.
