The sequel tease for Shadows of the Damned is not a tease, it's Suda venting his frustrations with the troubled development of that game and coming to terms with it.
Travis Will Not Stop Striking And It's Becoming A Bit Of A Concern: No More Heroes
Travis Strikes Continuously Until He Has To Pause For Thirty Seconds To Wag His Beam Saber Up and Down Again
Seriously Travis please stop mom and I are worried about you
Travis you’re dominant arm is becoming visibly bigger than the other, you need to see and addiction councillor
Can Travis stop striking and smell the roses?🌹
I love that Grasshopper Manufacture shared this review.
Wait, there's still staff at the Escapist? Other than you?
Rumor has it they're trying to be a thing again.
@@ressljs remember when they had a lot of interesting series and content?
I miss unforgotten realms
@@theXlegend17 I have to admit, I didn't know about the Escapist until it was just down to Yahtzee. But then I saw somewhere (I don't remember where) that they were raising capital and reorganizing, wanting to rebuild it back into a real gaming news source again. And I thought, "again?" That was the first I knew anything about their past.
They started a newer, hipper, trendier, and immensely more awkward-to-use web site. With no Unskippable archive or anything! =D
10/10 would hipster again. =___=
I remember when the guy from Unskippable guest-hosted half an episode of Zero Punctuation. He did a pretty good job too, considering Yahtzee's style is entirely inimitable
The title still has more touchdowns than the last Superbowl.
HA!
10/10 joke, great work
I want to say it was the lowest scoring superbowl in history?
Can someone explain what happened to the super bowl since im not aware of that yet....
And i don't live on merica.
Travis Strikes Again?
Well maybe if he was paid more he wouldn't keep striking
Thanks for your support.
haha
ba dum tss
@@TheOrangeFondler How's the boot polish taste like?
There are times I forget that Yahtzee works for The Escapist and isn't his own thing. I think he wishes he could forget that as well.
@@Ragnarok540 well if he goes independent he will lose zero punctation, since the escapist owns it
Judgmentdayz not necessarily. He owned the format before the escapist picked him up, if he’s as sensible as he seems to be he would have retained the rights to the ZP brand when he joined up, like jim sterling and the jimquisition
Could be a matter of simply "they're good to me and make things easy"
I'm pretty sure Judgementdayz is correct, Yahtzee signed over the entire ZP format and distinctive iconography, the little avatar of Yahtzee and the imps and so on when he first joined them back in misty 2007.
And tbf the situation is symbiotically healthy, since ZP put Yahtzee on the map (outside of indie adventure games) and is still his main revenue stream. Before that Yahtz was working in warehouses, writing one-off articles and doing temp office work. ZP definitely beats all of that, even if he could do with a break after 12 years. The dream for Yahtzee is to make a living off his novels which seem to be his main passion now, but his novels are only viable because of the press generated by his ZP reputation.
So Yahtzee really owes the Escapist one. And the Escapist wouldn't remotely exist without Yahtzee nowadays. This is the face of a productive, co-dependent relationship. Or at least a capitalist one.
This aged well
The Grand return of Travis , just not the one people were really expecting.
This isn't a game about being back. It's about the feeling of being away.
I mean, as a long time No More Heroes fan... This is pretty much what I was expecting. :P
@Jensi Oquendo lmfao
Ahhhh yes, Suda51. The king of giving people what they expect.
I just finished playing TSA (as in within the minute of watching this video) and while I greatly enjoyed it, I agree that if someone wasn't already a big Suda fan this would fly over their heads, and if someone expected a proper NMH they would be confused. Still a great game for someone who loved Killer7 and NMH, and helps build up interest to try out his other titles like FSR and the Silver Case.
Travis Strikes Again is what you get when Suda51 tries to follow PT and make a playable teaser
nitish kapur Travis Strikes Again is what happens when a old game developer gets inspired by modern indie games and self funds the game
PT?
It’s good
@BlazingEmber66 yeah but grasshoper has no where near the funds of konami
Wait, you mean 32x really exists and wasn't just a weird 90s fever dream I had once?
Yes, and contrary to what everyone on the internet says, there's actually some good games on it.
SmaMan There's a couple of good games on it, hell, the port of Doom isn't even outright atrocious (if you turn off the music, use a six button controller, and forgive the game missing like 30% of its content), but "A few of the games were ok/good" doesn't detract from what a bad idea it was.
Virtual Boy was worse.
@@Web720 Virtual Boy was a pretty bad idea, yeah.
Kinda wish Nintendo would rerelease some of the games for the 3DS or something, because mostly the games were actually not bad.
Has anyone considered the fact that I keep striking because I'm a blacksmith and it's my job?
The lack of anime when Travis is a huge otaku was a bit weird now that I think about it. NMH2 straight up had an anime boss, but no anime to be found here.
Yeah cause this was written and directed by Suda51 just like his only two other games Killer7/NMH1 ever other game he honestly had little input and was told by his publishers to add more wacky anime, more poner references, and more girls with big boobs but he still likes those games even if its not his original vision
@@tacoo7697 NMH1 was his original vision and Pure White Lover Bizarre Jelly was Travis' favorite anime (made up for the game, but still anime) and it has plenty of presence in Travis' life, from his apartment to the name of his special moves.
Maybe travis grew out of it
A bunch of the skill chips are names after Gundam models so thats almost the same thing
@@hubblebublumbubwub5215 That wouldn't make much sense since he still uses Japanese with ramen and says "Moe" at various points.
BTW.. random Weeb Trivia: Suda 51 5=Go 1=Ichi (Suda Goichi)
Its been a while since Ive laughed out loud at a video on the internet, but the 32X joke made me laugh loud enough to scare my cat. Thank you, Yahtzee
What we need is a sequel to Lollipop Chainsaw.
no fuck that
Candy Cane Icepick?
Gumball Machete?
Gummy Bear Hydrogen Bomb!
I was so upset that they killed off the 360 backwards compatibility program without bringing that game over first. It just sits in my 360 now, ready to be played at a moment's notice.
A remake for the game was announced, if that counts
Travis has Unionized: No More Pickets
The only thing preventing me from clicking the notifications bell for the escapist is that I only want Zero Punctuation videos. I can't make it through a Movie Bob one.
But the notifications tell you what video it is. you don't have to watch the Movie Bob ones.
nonspiderweb no one wants the notifications for him tho
@@nonspiderweb True, I just want every notification to be a video I will want to watch.
I opt out of subscription for this channel when they dropped 6 videos no one cares about in one day.
I remember to search for ZP every wednesday, no need for more junk in my subscribe page.
Jayfive276 I doubt anyone actually watches moviebob
You ever click on a video and think “fuck Yahtzee is gunna tear into this one”
I have been wanting this for decades
that's the first time I thought about Freedom Planet since your review
I was thinking about it and Travis still is an otaku. With the exception of the character exclusive skill the rest are named after gundam, Doppelganger references Getter Robo, the boss from coffee and doughnuts is pretty much bootleg Char, and he has a talking cat. It doesn't get anymore anime than that. Those are the only ones I can remember off the top of my head.
I didn't even know this game came out yet, there has been literally no advertising at all
I though it was one of his occasional retro reviews.
So basically No More Heroes is an isekai without truck-kun.
fuck off justin
not really, they’re practically free to go in and leave when ever they want
@@Bella_The_Chef Why do you want to fuck Justin?
Piss off you’re not funny
He was booked out with zombie idols
No More Hero's 3- T-shirt Shopping Simulator.
Lollipop chainsaw port would be fantabulous
Actually, a SotD sequel would be sweet.
F R Should we also anticipate a Lollipop Chainsaw sequel as well?
@@E1craZ4life no.
Yahtzee I finally broke down and bought "Return of the Obra Dinn". Do not disappoint me.
Were you disappointed
Gauntlet? Haven't heard a reference to THAT in a while.
Actually suda 51 was dissapointed with the final result of shadows of the damned
EA asked for a LOT of changes
Geez it’s been a long time since someone mentioned the 32X, and if it was enchanted it would’ve survived longer than a few months
Anyone remember Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard? Something in this video just reminded me of that game...
Scott Miller's Mystical Head is a welcome sight.
Wait what there’s a new no more heroes. That passed me by
0:19 bro, long time ago had the thought that if you wanted to sui, fighting a bear is a pretty wild way to go. Lose, you die. Win, damn, might give a renewed sense of primitive strength that'd keep you going.
It's title is in Ghostbusters font! Anyone notice that?
I’m still interested in it as a multiplayer game. Also, am I the only one that straight up loved the combat for No More Heroes 2? I always got disappointed when I ran out of faceless random dudes to fuck up. Shit was fun!
Lmao Suda 51, the man who named himself after his wifi password... I know it's a joke, but it fits so well that it could be true xD
Lets be goddamed superheroes
"The hacking and slashing are always the least interesting parts of it." Its quotes like these that remind me that not every reviewer speaks the words of the actual audience.
Yahtzee spent a good decade in the mindset of "combat in video games isn't what I'm actually here for. It helps pace the story but that implies I actually get a story"
Yeah the game is far from perfect but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't still having fun.
It is in that regard just like the other NMH Titles.
Exactly.
The 32X joke cracked me up!
No more heroes because they're all on strike apparently
4:54 "SELF-INDULGNET"?
Oh boy, Yahtzee is so mad at this game that he forgot how to spell!
Self-Indulgnet is correct actually: The game is so self-indulgent it's like its own little network of self-indulgence, hence a Self-Indulgnet.
I would commend it for being an exemplary Self-Indulgnet, but Tumblr exists.
@@tahutoa Well actually, it's Be....
I just confirmed what you were trying to say didn't I.
Your reviews have saved me so much money and pain.
Awesome!
Heck yeah more ZP to feed my addiction!
Scott's Mystical Head? Now that's a reference
If the joy con analogue sticks bug you get a pro controller definitely the better option can also be used as a steam controller and let me tell you a well madde steam controller wighout analogue triggers is a god send
2:22 What is Scott Miller's head doing on that shirt? lol
3:23 sounds like an editing gaffe and he meant to say "late for smashing-your-face-into-a-nearby-wall day"
I assume the misspelling of "self-indulgent" at the end was intentional, but why...?
After buying and playing on day 1... Being a big fan of the serie, I can't help but to agree on 95% with you... And that make me sad =c
Travis strikes again 'HURK' No more heroes
I actually would like a sequel to Shadows of the Damned, as frustrating Large Femur segment aside, I found the game to be a relatively fun and somewhat charming shooter.
I saw Scott's Mystical Head...
4:55 Im not sure if that misspell is intentional or not
Agreed
Love ya yahtz
So... what does Yahtzee like about Suda51 again?
Yo, real talk? Another Shadows of the Damned I would be 100% for.
Kokoro Connect reference? In 2018?
Quick scan of the comments and not a single mention of the enchanted 32x
yahtzee please do astroneer
Was the intro speeded up?
My last thought: "Freedom what?... Oh yeah, that existed."
I was wondering if he would try Kingdom Hearts, just considering how big it is. I know he’d hate it, but I’d like to see his take.
Has Yahtzee ever reviewed Mutant Football League? I think he would enjoy the breath of fresh air from traditional sports games being replace with blood thirsty Mutants, and Aliens trying too kill each other, while playing american football.
Travis Strikes Back is a pretty decent game but if it breeches the “top 5 best video games of 2019” list then we’re in deep doo-doo because that means that all year no more than 4 games were able to top it.
Cheese Wizard Or no more than four games were able to fall apart faster or plunge deeper into sewage.
Well Kingdom Hearts 3 came out, so we already have at least one game that’s better.
I've forgotten, what WAS the hoo-hah over Freedom Planet?
Y'all should review a little game called Debris
And now Shadows of the Damned is getting Hella Remastered!
Question are you gonna do a kh3 review
i play the super nintendo umihara kawase and bonk 2 :)
0:39
Oh, hey, it's that game with Twilight Sparkle's voice as the main character.
Or the game where the power puff girl bubbles grew into a teen.
Tara strong is a very busy voice actress, shes in everything from MLP, to teen titains go, even a shit ton of video games. Fortnite, rachet and clank series, seriously she gets around more than Kevin bacon
I kinda want travis in smash
And I thought this was the sequel to the 1976 movie taxi driver
4:55 indulgnet
Last time I was this early they only sold 1 version of new games
so before pokemon was invented?
So before Pokémon blue and green?
I mean even n64 games had the standard cartridge and the gold cartridge...
It's feels so far away.
Cant wait for D4 to get finished amirite guys?
Always reading "51" as in japanese "go-ichi", it's supposed to be his surname.
Please review Warframe when the "Railjack" extension comes out!
Bigmouth Strikes Again
Travis for SSB Ultimate
Finding I enjoy these a lot more at .75 speed. Just me? Probably.
You ever gonna review Ace Combat 7
In summation Travis becomes the vary thing no more heroes was satirizing.
I bet this review with be a constant attack on Suda
*watches video*
...yep
Hey Yahtz, could you share your thoughts on Kingdom Hearts 3 sometime? I'd love to hear your opinion, no matter what it is.
Well can it be a NMH game without being a Wii game?
4:55 S e l f - I n d u l g N e t
Mini ninjas?
Suda51 loves Shadows of the Damned? I guess he really loved working with the people of EA or something. The best days of his lives, no doubt.
Well, he liked the idea of the game, but then ea came in, took his idea, and jacked all over it
@@sopothetocho The game started out as survival horror, went through five redesigns with EA insisting on making it more focused on gunplay and easy to understand narratives, so it could sell in the west. It bombed. I don't really care about reviews as even back then when they still had some sort of relevance to "gamer culture", they were not to be taken seriously.
"[Shadows of The Damned] became a completely different game. That was a bit disappointing. I think Suda was unable to create the scenario he'd originally had in his head, and he rewrote the scenario several times. I think his heart was broken. He's such a unique creator, so it seems to me that he was not quite comfortable with making this game."
- Shinji Mikami
Well I'd believe that he liked the concept and idea of the game, but not what it became under EA's influence.
Now that he's gone indie, this could be his chance to have something closer to his original ideas.
@@sopothetocho, It has heart, and the gunplay borrowed from RE4 is solid, but the overall gameplay experience is ho-hum, honestly. I missed a couple red gems, but have no desire to replay it for 100% completion.
No More Heros was fucken awesome
The yellow background is only seen when you think about it
Anyone else think that Suda51 looks a lot like Alan Rickman?
Welcome to Herr
Trivial Pursuit anyone?
This game is just to make you hype for the real No More Heroes 3
I'm sure you meant a 2-year old iPhone.
