I Wish Charles was able to win at least one title cause he was a great player. Its crazy that the Rockets had Hakeem,Barkley and Pippen on the same team but they were all past their prime. It's very difficult to win a championship and some greats never get one so that's just how it goes.

I loved it back then and it worked, but favoritism for stars is real, and MJ was the most favored player of all time. One funny thing about the league though was that they gave some fans in massive markets what they wanted. NY Knicks and Detroit ALWAYS were allowed to play Rugby style, especially in the playoffs.

Michael Jordan had the will to win in the most competitive era than any other player in history, this is why in any other era that he couldn't lose to... His focus was to always make the shot when it was made.
To me this may have been the best Bulls team ever. The later teams with Rodman and Kukoc were amazing but this was Jordan still at his athletic prime and in the last of 3 titles before the early retirement that cost him two possible championships. Jordan was already the best post player in the game, the best mid range player in the game but was still super high flying. Jordan Grant and Pippen were so great defensively they could clamp down hard and they did. I love Paxon,B.J and Hodges and Bill Cartwright was an underrated center as well. They may have not had a dominant a regular season but they were so experienced at that point they just turned it on when it counted. I wish Jordan didn't retire after his father died but I can't blame him. They would have been adding Toni Kukoc and would have been tough to beat.
Man Danny Ainge played on some really good teams. He played for the Celtic's for a few years, then he played on Portland and then on the Suns. At least he played on good teams.
That "Smith stopped, stopped again" play felt like it lasted for eternity back when I watched it live as a kid. I couldn't believe the Bulls came away with the ball. It was like time stopped and Smith was under the basket for eternity and then time moved again and the Bulls had it and won. Still my favorite game of all time!

I remember when the Bulls won. I was in third grade when they won. I lived in a Chicago suburb so we would always be watching the bulls. When they won I remember being in the back of a station wagon yelling threepeat.
I lived in NY at the time and was surrounded by Knick fans at work. Wasn't easy listening to them leading up to the playoffs. The Knicks were unbeatable at the Garden. They were certain 93 was their year and then being up 2-0 on the Bulls, they were 110% confident. I actually felt a little bad for them after Game 5. Everybody knew the Cinderella run was over. NY deserved a ring, just not on Jordan's watch.
Chicago will always be the greatest sports city. In the last 30 years there have been 10 championships. 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2010, 2013, 2015, and 2016. The Bears, Blackhawks, Cubs, and Bulls will always be the teams that represent the greatest city in all of sports.
47:05, this is what puts Jordan ahead of the rest for me. When most of the team felt the game slipping away, he found the strength, will, and courage to tell his team to calm down and see that there’s still time on the clock to when. No bad body language, complaining or deficiencies, just encouragement and timely words. That’s greatness.
If the Knicks had LJ instead of Mr. Softie (a.k.a. Charles Smith), then that shot would have went in. Smith didn't have the respect of the refs to get that call at the end of the game. Oakley would have gotten that call, but then again, Oakley would have made the basket. At the end of the day, Pippen and Grant were in great position and played great D there, so credit to them, but the Knicks have nobody to blame but themselves in that game. They missed 16 free throws (19/35 from the FT line) . That's why they lost that game. The Bulls made them pay for that more than anything else.
I hope the younger basketball viewers today can see and appreciate how ruff and tuff it was in the east at that time comparing to the west .was much easier to get to the finals in the west than it was to get to the finals in the east ,

This was a team that became great over the course of time. Starting in 84 with MJ, the acquisition of Paxson in 85, 87 with the drafting of Pippen and Grant, 88 with the trade for Cartwright, they bonded together on the court, and became great. That's what makes this 93 team so satisfying. They learned and lost and hurt, but once they learned, they just kept winning. Even tired, even banged up, even splintering from internal strife, even playing into June for the third straight year, even taking on all comers, even getting everybody's best shot, they kept winning. That's hard. One of the sad things about the current era of free agency is that guys won't play together long enough to bond into a tight unit like this.

One of the most memorable aspects of the first three-peat was Chicago Stadium. What a venue for fans. Easily the loudest stadium, the balconies were right on top of the floor and a very old school ambience (for better and worse of course)
Paxson also hit many clutch shots on the first championship game against Lakers. He was always trailing Jordan when Jordan decided to defer to him, he just hit it.

It was my First NBA Finals...I will never forget it...I was 12 at that time...unforgettable the Paxson's 3Pt, the triple overtime Game...Both teams were great like most of the people i was a Bulls fan but I also love the Suns especially Sir Charles & KJ but also the great shooter Dan Majerle and Richard Dumas...So sad he had drug problems and fucked up his career, he was a great rookie. Michael Jordan in his prime. Had he not retired after 93 he would've almost assuredly won 4 in a row and most likely another league MVP. LeBron is a freak athlete and most likely a top 5 player but he will never eclipse the Superstardom almost Rockstar like level of celebrity MJ had after this season. Charles won the MVP by default really. He was great and was just as vital to his teams success as anyone during this time but it was clear as day obvious who the best player in the world was in the 90s. MJ lead the league in scoring again and could take over a game at will and Charles knows he was given the award because Michael didn't mind throwing his best buddy at the time a bone because he knew the championship was his and Charles deserved to be recognized as he was definitely the 2nd best player that year.
This is by far one of my favorite team NBA videos, the voice, the music, and highlights are perfect. This Bulls teams I have so much respect for especialy when they had to face their arch rival Knicks and beat them. Though it broked my heart when they finished off my Suns in game 6, this video braught so much fun memories of those good old NBA games. Today's NBA will not survived the 80's and early 90's NBA in my honest opinion.
The first three peat was the best because these players came through great disappointments of 1989 and1990 to win three in a row. Unlike second three peat, the players were all super stars who came together to create history for the Bulls and MJ by winning three in a row, 1996, 1997 and 1998. If I had to watch one playoff game from the last 20 years, it's got to be Game 5 between the Knicks and the Bulls. Not only was a trip to the Finals riding on that game, but legacies were at stake as well. Would MJ have had the same legacy had they fallen to the Knicks? Would Ewing have been revered by New York with a win against a MJ-led Chicago Bulls team? Who knows...

I believe the Rockets, sonics and Spurs were the only NBA teams during the bulls first three peat to have a winning record against the bulls in the regular season. Now I know the regular season doesn’t mean a whole lot, it just gives us an idea of how the teams match up against each other, and I think the Spurs sonics and Rockets were a nightmare matchup for the Bulls during that time.

I Wish Charles was able to win at least one title cause he was a great player. Its crazy that the Rockets had Hakeem,Barkley and Pippen on the same team but they were all past their prime. It's very difficult to win a championship and some greats never get one so that's just how it goes.

To me this may have been the best Bulls team ever. The later teams with Rodman and Kukoc were amazing but this was Jordan still at his athletic prime and in the last of 3 titles before the early retirement that cost him two possible championships. Jordan was already the best post player in the game, the best mid range player in the game but was still super high flying. Jordan Grant and Pippen were so great defensively they could clamp down hard and they did. I love Paxon,B.J and Hodges and Bill Cartwright was an underrated center as well. They may have not had a dominant a regular season but they were so experienced at that point they just turned it on when it counted. I wish Jordan didn't retire after his father died but I can't blame him. They would have been adding Toni Kukoc and would have been tough to beat.

That "Smith stopped, stopped again" play felt like it lasted for eternity back when I watched it live as a kid. I couldn't believe the Bulls came away with the ball. It was like time stopped and Smith was under the basket for eternity and then time moved again and the Bulls had it and won. Still my favorite game of all time!

I remember when the Bulls won. I was in third grade when they won. I lived in a Chicago suburb so we would always be watching the bulls. When they won I remember being in the back of a station wagon yelling threepeat.
I lived in NY at the time and was surrounded by Knick fans at work. Wasn't easy listening to them leading up to the playoffs. The Knicks were unbeatable at the Garden. They were certain 93 was their year and then being up 2-0 on the Bulls, they were 110% confident. I actually felt a little bad for them after Game 5. Everybody knew the Cinderella run was over. NY deserved a ring, just not on Jordan's watch.

If the Knicks had LJ instead of Mr. Softie (a.k.a. Charles Smith), then that shot would have went in. Smith didn't have the respect of the refs to get that call at the end of the game. Oakley would have gotten that call, but then again, Oakley would have made the basket. At the end of the day, Pippen and Grant were in great position and played great D there, so credit to them, but the Knicks have nobody to blame but themselves in that game. They missed 16 free throws (19/35 from the FT line) . That's why they lost that game. The Bulls made them pay for that more than anything else.

This was a team that became great over the course of time. Starting in 84 with MJ, the acquisition of Paxson in 85, 87 with the drafting of Pippen and Grant, 88 with the trade for Cartwright, they bonded together on the court, and became great. That's what makes this 93 team so satisfying. They learned and lost and hurt, but once they learned, they just kept winning. Even tired, even banged up, even splintering from internal strife, even playing into June for the third straight year, even taking on all comers, even getting everybody's best shot, they kept winning. That's hard. One of the sad things about the current era of free agency is that guys won't play together long enough to bond into a tight unit like this.

One of the most memorable aspects of the first three-peat was Chicago Stadium. What a venue for fans. Easily the loudest stadium, the balconies were right on top of the floor and a very old school ambience (for better and worse of course)

It was my First NBA Finals...I will never forget it...I was 12 at that time...unforgettable the Paxson's 3Pt, the triple overtime Game...Both teams were great like most of the people i was a Bulls fan but I also love the Suns especially Sir Charles & KJ but also the great shooter Dan Majerle and Richard Dumas...So sad he had drug problems and fucked up his career, he was a great rookie. But the Bulls were unstoppaBulls !

Michael Jordan in his prime. Had he not retired after 93 he would've almost assuredly won 4 in a row and most likely another league MVP. LeBron is a freak athlete and most likely a top 5 player but he will never eclipse the Superstardom almost Rockstar like level of celebrity MJ had after this season. Charles won the MVP by default really. He was great and was just as vital to his teams success as anyone during this time but it was clear as day obvious who the best player in the world was in the 90s. MJ lead the league in scoring again and could take over a game at will and Charles knows he was given the award because Michael didn't mind throwing his best buddy at the time a bone because he knew the championship was his and Charles deserved to be recognized as he was definitely the 2nd best player that year.
Olajuwon would have still won the MVP Award in 94 and still defeat Jordan bulls in the 94 NBA Finals.
This is by far one of my favorite team NBA videos, the voice, the music, and highlights are perfect. This Bulls teams I have so much respect for especialy when they had to face their arch rival Knicks and beat them. Though it broked my heart when they finished off my Suns in game 6, this video braught so much fun memories of those good old NBA games. Today's NBA will not survived the 80's and early 90's NBA in my honest opinion.
The first three peat was the best because these players came through great disappointments of 1989 and1990 to win three in a row. Unlike second three peat, the players were all super stars who came together to create history for the Bulls and MJ by winning three in a row, 1996, 1997 and 1998. If I had to watch one playoff game from the last 20 years, it's got to be Game 5 between the Knicks and the Bulls. Not only was a trip to the Finals riding on that game, but legacies were at stake as well. Would MJ have had the same legacy had they fallen to the Knicks? Would Ewing have been revered by New York with a win against a MJ-led Chicago Bulls team? Who knows...
If the Bulls had lost to the Knicks, Jordan probably wouldn't have retired the first time.

Now I know the regular season doesn’t mean a whole lot, it just gives us an idea of how the teams match up against each other, and I think the Spurs sonics and Rockets were a nightmare matchup for the Bulls during that time.
