    I'm not sure how I came across your video, but once I started watching it, I couldn't stop.
    It was extremely informative! You've saved someone who is buying an RV a heep of time wondering about certain particulars. I think Rockwood should be paying you for this video, you have probably raised their sales. I know more about RV's now than I ever have.

    Seriously one of the BEST RV tours I've seen. I hope you are getting compensated by Rockwood for this awesome video. It certainly makes me consider Rockwood for the future. We are doing vanlife at the moment, but considering something bigger. Hope we run into you guys in the future (figuratively, of course lol). Safe travels!
    And keep making these long videos!!! We love them!!

    I’ve NEVER seen such a thorough and/or comprehensive review of an RV. I’m still watching and really wish I knew the price tag, but also realize this is a 2020 model. However, if money were no object....you certainly would have me rushing out to buy this rig! I’m looking for a rig to full-time in and this absolutely looks perfect for my needs. I think my Lincoln Navigator would tow it nicely, if I’m not mistaken. Thanks so much for your attention to all of the details!!

    • @BruceS42
      @BruceS42 Před 3 lety

      @@williamarnold7903 We're in transition ourselves. We bought our truck (2019 Ram 3500 dually with "max tow" package) in late '2019, and our fifth-wheel toy hauler (2021 Riverstone 42FSKG) earlier this year. We have the trailer at a local RV park, and are working on our house to get it ready to sell. We even have someone looking at it tomorrow, despite it not being officially on the market yet. So far, we enjoy living in the RV, which we've been doing more and more, only spending time at the house when we need to. We *hope* we like it better than you did, but I'm not making any predictions about that. When we get the house sold, we intend to use some of the money from that to buy a piece of property somewhere that we can hunker down with the RV if things get difficult like they did last year. I know there will be things about the house that we miss. Our RV has a fantastic kitchen, for an RV, but it's still nothing like the one in this house, and both of us love to cook. We also like to entertain, and that's not going to happen out of an RV anything like it has out of this house. We've had parties with over 70 guests here. As for the garage, the RV's is a mini-garage, just enough for my big bike (V-Star 1300T), whereas the one at this house is a 2-car oversized in both directions, so enough to fit two cars, two motorcycles, several bicycles, a big work desk, shelving, and more storage. It just won't be the same. I hope you continue to enjoy your 5 acre place, and that the memories of RVing were valuable to you, if not all pleasant.

    I love how I work at an RV place but I still end up watching your walk through video 😁. The only info I have for you (I’m not normally that person to say anything but I personally put a ton of thought into my new rv that I just got as well) we wanted a slide that allowed us to access everything if parked at a truck stop or something, I also wanted the regular stairs so they don’t have to be folded down to get in, typically you have to leave those stairs like yours down at a truck stop. But I’ve told customers that question that as well to put a pull rope on it and the door so they can be pulled up and the door be closed with stairs in your way. That way you aren’t blocking the other parking spot, on the flip side of that, if a big truck parks to close, your stuck inside until they move lol. So you win some and you lose some. 😁

    Congrats on your new Rockwood. Welcome to the Rockwood owner family! We have an early-2019 Rockwood Signature fifth wheel. Those E-Z Lube Dexter axles are OK for shooting it a bit of fresh grease in but you have to use a manual grease gun and spin the tires while slowly pumping in the grease. Do not use an air grease gun. I would still manually check and refresh the bearing grease once a year. The forums are full of stories about people seeing the rear seals blow out from using the E-Z Lube zerks. I haven't had it myself but I do have the bearings and brakes checks each Spring.

    You mention "china bomb" OK, I just upgraded my tires to Goodyear Endurance ST225/75R 15 on my 2018 Keystone Outback 266RB. (8700 MAX weight) My first trip on this new trailer ran over a piece of metal at a mom and pop filling station in Colorado. It was not even on the roadway. As I was filling my truck I literally watch that tire go flat! Had a spare, swapped the tires out and finished our trip. Got home and then I decided to upgrade to the Endurance. Best decision I made for sure. I truly believe if I had the Endurance on my trailer and ran over that same piece of metal, I would not have had a flat. The El cheapo that came with the trailer was the issue. Smooth ride and the most improved difference is in cornering and during turns. More stable and controlled ride. The El cheapos had sidewall flex that would not stop. Based on the date, these tires all made in March 2019. Today is the 5nd of May 2019. Also I upgraded my suspension, I upgraded my suspension to the MORryde CRE3000. Now I just got the Goodyear Endurance ST225/75R15 for my 2018 Keystone Outback and with the upgraded suspension, WOW! Comfort beyond my wildness dreams. I traveled into town for the install of the suspension since I don't have the jack stands to support my trailer if I installed it myself. That ride back home was a huge improvement over the old stock suspension. Now with the upgraded tires, WOW factor over the top. The most noticeable difference was on turning. Much more stable and control over the stock, cheapie tires that came with the trailer. Highly recommend both suspension and tire upgrades ASAP on travel trailers. I am sure this also applies to 5th wheels, but most high end 5th wheels come with these upgrades. I think for 5th wheels it is the MORryde SRE4000 series suspension and 16 inch tires. FYI the original tires were trailer king II tires. Most come on TT. Just my thoughts. An just another note with the 266RB slide in and everything is accessible except the bedroom. But we normally don't stay over night in Truck stops or other places. We are spoiled. Need full hookups...……...

    I like your rv. The comments about the truck stop. The truck stops don't care but for us truckers we do only because we have so much trouble finding places to park. We are not allowed to park just anywhere. If rv drivers would take that into consideration we would appreciate it. I think it's cool to rv. I hope maybe to do that 1 day.

    • @Rvdaydream
      @Rvdaydream  Před 4 lety

      Thank you! 👍.. I really appreciate your comment on this and I agree, with truck stop etiquette but I think a lot of the truck driver don't realize most of the rvers don't want to be in truck stops. When we get fatigued we could do a pretty decent amount of damage with our vehicles if we don't get sleep as well. Granted, not as much as a big rig however at 53-foot overall length and at 16000 pounds I'm sure I could mess up some stuff if I got drowsy at the wheel. A lot of the truck drivers don't realize that there are 1 million people living full-time in their RVs. Even if half of the those are full-time travelers that's 500,000 RV's out there looking for places to stay overnight. Of course Walmart and Cracker Barrel is most of the motorhome, travel trailer, and fifth wheel Travelers go to places but if we're tired it's kind of tough to navigate a city we're not familiar with only to find out that there are city ordinances against us parking there for the night. The other thing I find funny is that a lot of the truck stops is usually packed full of trucks with no RV in sight and the truck drivers don't ever get together and complain to the companies that run those truck stops, as to needing more parking spaces. But you have that same parking lot a week later packed to the brim and there's one RV that's taking up a parking space and all of a sudden it's that one RVs fault that the entire parking lot is filled? What I mean to say is, if tomorrow all the truck stops and rest stops banned RVs, Would you have a parking spot every time you needed it? Since 95% of Truck Stop Parking is covered by tractor-trailer rigs I think I know the answer already. not really sure how truckers don't see the problem of no parking available regardless if an RV was there or not. It'll be different if a pretty large portion of the truck stop was taken up by RVs but usually it's just one or two. And again, we don't want to be there. we had to stop there. I know that the truck drivers have a job and I understand electronic logs and hours of driving rules I used to work for FedEx Custom Critical as an expedite Freight dispatcher and trained Driver/Contractors so I know a lot of the drivers concerns with what's going on out there. So I consider myself a pretty informed Traveler. However, I don't think that a lot of truck drivers realize just because the RV it's going down the road or parked in a truck stop that person inside may not be retired or on vacation.. they are living their life and working a job of some sort, they're just doing it out of an RV. So spread the word among your Trucking companions. remember the problem isn't that there's two or three RVs taking up parking spaces that big rigs could be in but that there's is no or very limited designated RV parking, and getting angry with the few RVs that may have stopped for the night out of necessity, really don't make a difference to the overall big rig parking shortage.

  • @SmoreCampingwiththeSchraggs

    At 28:14 you talk about stepping on the slide while it is in. You should never stand step sit on the slides while they are in. It will break them. Just a heads up. DO NOT step on the floor of the slide out when the room is retracted. The slide out floor is not supported by the main floor and stepping on the floor will cause structural damage to the slide room. Doing so will cause the walls to separate from the floor. We know this to be true because our coachman did just that the previous owners would use the couch and booth while there were in and the walls pulled away from the floor.

    • @allan6021
      @allan6021 Před 5 lety

    Nice trailer. I also bought a Rockwood. I still like it but I had a major problem with it. It had delamination of the outer skin 3 months after I bought it. They did repair it by replacing the entire side (which worries me) and they did so in a timely manner. As long as their repair work holds up I will be very satisfied with it. I have a friend that had a leak which caused mold to grow. The particular manufacturer of their travel trailer is keeping it for 6 months to fix it. They will get it back at the end of camping season this fall.

    • @Rvdaydream
      @Rvdaydream  Před 4 lety +2

      Rockwoods are not known for leaks or the lamination that is definitely a rarity. Rockwood has the ability to repair and they will repair entire walls to get the problem fixed immediately. We were told that during our walk-through tour. They said that anytime they have a problem no matter how serious it is they will completely disassemble the RV and rebuild it if needed to be. The good news is, they have their own lamination facility and they do all of their own lamination work so you can bet that they replace the entire wall with something new or they at least took all the damaged off of yours and re vacuum laminated the entire thing. They are a good company

One thing on the axle bearings they are not bearing Buddies, you need to raise the tire off the ground and spin it while you put the new grease in and it will Purge the old grease out the front. I do not believe you are supposed to put grease in them when they are stationary. Thank you.

    I know this is a year later, but --
    First = I absolutely LOVE the details since I am looking at units myself. Thank you!
    Now, here are my two reasons for *not* installing the towel bar and TP holder: height and handedness.
    1. There are tall people and short people.
    It is frustrating to be 5'2" tall and have the towel bar be set for a 6'2'" person, or vice versa.
    2. There are "lefties" and "righties".
    It is frustrating to be used to a left side roll holder in your home and finding, in the middle of the night, that it is a right sided one in the RV. By the time you figure that out, you woke up.
    If this were my rig, the TP holder would be on the sidling door, back near the outer wall since I have mine on my left.
    Placing it there would also compel people to close the door to the bedroom while using the commode.
    There would be the hanging hooks where you were pointing for towels, robes or clothes , but I would have two towel bars on the lower portion as well for additional drying as needed.

    Really nice video, like you, I did a ton of research on which make to buy..the best bang for your buck is Rockwood... even tho' it isn't rated as a 4 season...we took ours (2019 Rockwood 2606ws) to southern Texas for the entire month of November last year, it got down to 18 F for a straight week at night.... had absolutely no freezing problems..other than the outside hose bib freezing up, we too opted for the tank heaters, they work great.
    We really love the included torflex suspension, the only other TT that includes it (without added cost) is Airstream.

    The problem with these type of steps is when you fold them up for storage any debris on the step will end up in the trailer. Also, sand a grit needs to be be swept off of them before storing. If it rains or snows the steps will collect the moisture which could be transferred into the trailer living area. Thanks for your review of the unit.

    • @Rvdaydream
      @Rvdaydream  Před 3 lety

      We have traveled with this RV extensively and we do have a routine in which before we put the steps away we do sweep them off and also we shake them before putting them in the upright position we may have to take a towel and wipe the steps occasionally if it's been raining extremely hard but usually it takes no more than a hand dish towel that lays underneath of the steps when they're over there in the upright position that takes care of any moisture that might be there. I'll tell you what the downfall is with the steps. When we stop at locations and pull up close to a curb like at Walmart or a truck stop near an island for the night the steps have to be far enough away that they don't hit the curb because they cannot adjust low enough to accommodate an extra six inches of height. Other than that they are perfect.

    Wow! Where do I start? We bought the 2608bs front kitchen model. Love it! The floor plan eliminates 1/2 of the issues you have. 1st The levels are cheap and easily added. 1 front and 1 forward side corner for fast easy leveling. Frame of steps not a issue in the 2608 model. Key holes could have been better quality as you said. We optioned for theater seating which have 2 compartments with usb plugs so running power to electronics is not a issue. Agree with the waisted space under left bench seat of dining. Only access is removing seat and board. On the porch side our water heater, fridge and stove is at the front so it doesn’t interfere with sound, door or excess heat as your model. Trim the blind by removing unneeded fins and move the plastic supports up on the blind above the stove. My handle no longer hits the blind when I need to open it. As far as the air conditioning not being aerodynamic, the entire front of these Rockwoods are pretty flat so I don’t feel the air units are that big a deal. On raising the steps, you have to open the door all the way! Is that really a issue? Lol You loved the ease of the steps in a earlier video. You should of added a inverter with 2 or 3 plugs in the tv area. Dealer added mine before I picked it up for far less than you spent on the bedroom tv, mount and labor. I purchased a tv and mount for less than a $100, installed myself. Agree on the rv manual. Should of included one. Our 2019 has adjustable fish eye reading lights over the bed and theater seats. Not the bright round lights you showed. Maybe because our bedroom slide is the bed not the closet. Suggestion on the floor vents! I pulled the vent covers and added window screen to the bottom with a hot glue gun to prevent stuff falling into vent hole. I like your videos and love the Rockwood we bought. Like you, we shopped for a long time to find the one that jumped out at us. Large front kitchen with extra counter space, large walk around bedroom and closet. Only drawback is our model does not have as large of storage area up front due to the front kitchen. The rest of the floor plan makes up for it. We dry camp a lot so I also added roof solar to help keep batteries charged. The black tank washout connection does need to be improved.

    As a trucker, by the Rv's taking spots with the trucks takes away a spot a driver could use after 10+ hours of driving. RV's can park almost anywhere but trucks can't. Not to mention truckers get tickets for going over time on log book because campers taking truck parking plus how many familiesloose loved ones cause a driver couldn'tget a spot and fell asleepat the wheel. Trucks deliver everything in your life,food, clothes ect.

    • @Rvdaydream
      @Rvdaydream  Před 2 lety

      This has already been discussed many times before.... The problem lies with the lack of parking spots... For everyone.... I can get sleepy driving just like anyone else and need rest... Although not quite as heavy, I'm sure I can do a fair bit of damage @ 22,000lbs if forced to drive while drowsy... We called ahead and was told that spot was available for RVs... Again, the problem isn't people "stealing" "trucker" spots but there isn't enough parking available for everyone... As There are alot of Semis there are quite a few RVers on the road.... We aren't all on vacation... We travel full time and work from the road... Campgrounds charge $30 to $80 for a 1 night stay over even if checked in much later in the evening.. Wal-Mart is not only hit miss but rarely are close to the highway... Cracker Barrel sometimes don't have spots either meaning we may go 4 to 8 miles off the highway only to find no spots or low hanging trees not friendly for our 13'2" height... Again this is a problem of spots available for everyone... Being over 55' in length makes it a challenge for us as well... Now if I was driving a small van or had a small trailer that would be a different thing...

When I was little and traveling with parents we often would pull over for bathroom breaks and quick meals. Very great and informative video. Just subscribed to your channel. We live close to you (Ravenna) and camp at West Branch often. Be aware that when cold weather camping, that you could get excess condensation off of the front window. We did on our 2020 Apex. It soaked the corner of the mattress. That, along with many other problems and lack of a good design and quality has prompted us to trade it back in on a Grand Design model. No comparison whatsoever! Lost big time, but we couldn’t stomach keeping the Apex. Cheers to you and your wife!

    Nice video but I do beg to differ with your assertion that it is a "slide accessible" unit. At best it is partially slide accessible because of the second door. But within the industry, slide accessible means that you can access the entire unit, with the slides in, without having to climb over furniture or appliances.

    • @Rvdaydream
      @Rvdaydream  Před 5 lety

      Since you refer to it as being "within the industry" , can you point me to some sort of verbiage or literature which defines that definitely or is it just your interpretation? Because the same could be said for quite a few things. For example, with the awning extended but placed in the down position, most commonly used for rain runoff, most of the industry, says that entry to the RV is still fully accessible. However, most RVs require the door to scrape along the awning materials underside and usually the door can't be opened all the way. But you can still enter and exit the RV. So my viewpoint is that with the awning in the down position the entry is permissible even though you have to make accommodations in using the door. And to continue forward with why I consider this a slide accessible unit is because I have yet to find any unit that once the slides are in they allow full access to every cabinet, door and every Appliance that it is equipped with.

    I really loved your review on this Rockwood. I have a Rockwood of my own; a 2018 8324 BS. I have been full time in it for 13 months now. It is a very spacious model and very beautiful interior. I will say that as far as climate control, hot or cold, it is absolutely horrible. I have dual AC on 50 amp setup, if it is anything close to 100 outside the best I get inside is 78-80 degrees. Last winter was a nightmare, with pipes and water pump freezing. I have a covered and heated underbelly, mind you. I do love Rockwood but its climate control is not what they claim. I wish someone from Rockwood would come and see for themselves how horrible it is in here. Also, I have 75% of my windows cover with Reflectix and it is still 80 in here in the summer.

    Not Bad, Rockwood makes a decent trailer. Though, with this coach so heavily optioned , I probably would have just stepped up to one of the "Open Range" models, or other certified Dwelling/Full Time rated. Rockwood is definitely a Recreational Grade Camper. Keep a look out for "No Fulltiming" or "Residence" exclusions in their standard warranty, they are sticklers about it.
