Me too, most AAA games today are far less complete at launch and adds a lot of it's content as DLCs. They also tend to be a lot buggier at launch.
Heck, Star wars Outlaws just had people pay 20 bucks so people could start playing a weekend earlier (well there was a few cosmetic items too) and then when they patched it, people's save files don't work.
I don't think I ever made a better deal then Stardew valley when it comes to buying entertainment and the game was great already at launch.
The Island and the Co-op functions are probably the best additions to the game, a lot of extra hours of playtime and a different way to play the game.

As someone who only started playing since 1.5, the 1.6 update made me feel what it must've been like to watch a game you adore evolve into something more complex!
I remember back when it was said that 1.5 was most likely going to be the last big update. That always made me a bit sad, like I got too late to the party. A part of me does feel that sympathy towards the new players that joined after 1.6.
After all, the changes 1.6 brought made the game feel magical in a way I had never felt before! It was the perfect mix of knowing just enough about how the game works, so I wouldn't stress myself out with unknown mechanics and rules, while also having just enough new details to make me stop and appreciate what was happening on my screen :)

As someone who didn't discover the game until 1.5, this was absolutely fascinating. Both impressive to see how much content has been added, and also how much content was original. It always has been a really well made game, and CA has improved it a lot and given us later-game content, making it really well rounded and replayable.
I have 3k hours (I'm retired and disabled, so it's nothing for me to spend most of a day playing) and with the SVE mod, I feel as if I'll never really get tired of SV.

The one thing that would be interesting to show about Fall, like Shadow Guy in Winter, is the bulletin board not existing. None of those mid, late game quests to do either, just help wanted quests and the community center.

Played it at launch and you have no idea how good it felt to just be able to pick what tool or item I was using with either a push of a singular button or scroll with the mouse wheel. The old farm games were fun but man were they clunky to control. I've always had thoughts of playing Friends of Mineral Town again but having to stop, hold a button or two, and then tap the d-pad to switch tools or items in my hands is turning me off.
Its really understated just how good it feels to do the farming in Stardew compared to other games even now.

As someone who had beaten Fector's Challenge way back in 1.0
    Junimo Kart was literally unplayable.
There was way too much RNG at play and you could lose all your lives very quickly because the game respawns you in a bad spot.
Nobody could get the Junimo Kart Arcade System legitimately back then.
And I remember reading a discussion thread where people would come and talk about any secrets in the game.
This was where I learned about the discovery of
    SUPER CUCUMBER TOWN
    DUCK MAYO SALOON
    STRANGE BUN TOYBOX
    and the big Junimo plush.
I regret that I stopped playing the game after a while because back then you completed the Community Center you have beaten the game. So I didn't witness how harsh Grandpa used to be during the evaluation.

It will never cease to astound me how much has changed. I'm not entirely sure when I started playing, it was a little bit after release. . .I remember when quartz still had quality. When various items couldn't be stacked. There are SO many things we take for granted. Dinosuar eggs used to be near impossible to find, now I can usually find the first one halfway through the year. People forget multiplayer was a HUGE thing the community was waiting for. ConcernedApe would give fairly regularly updates on its progress as more and more people anticipated it.
I do kinda miss the pause time while fishing.

I made a few graphical mods back in the day for pre 1.1 stardew and it wasn't that hard to mod but you did need a guide to show you were you needed to replace the files. Not something too difficult but I can see why people didn't add mods as often. I made mods purely bc I didn't like the look of some animals and wanted to fix them. I know I "fixed" the goats to be cuter and it looks like I also fixed the brown cow, horse, dog, and rabbit. I saved the OG version of those files to my desktop in case I ever needed to put them back lol
I did give someone permission to add my mod in a pack a while back so it might still be floating around on the new mod platforms that do it for you. If they are and people are still liking them then IDC if I'm not the one who uploaded that version. I made them for myself and just shared them in case other people wanted to use it too

Most of the mods available for Stardew on 1.0 were content swaps. There was a decompiler program going around, where you could see and swap out the sprite image or hair texture file or music file to change your game, then recompile your version, and you had a modded Data folder you could upload to Nexus for others to use. The problem was if two different mods had altered multiple of the same files, you couldn't freely pick and choose which parts you want to see, and Content Patcher, which solved that problem, became a thing very quickly after SMAPI became widely available and script mods could be developed.

I remember shane and emily being romancable, but also being excited when secret notes and the night market got added, so im guessing I started playing on 1.2. So amazing to see this video. I originally got the game in 2015 and played maybe only 3-4 hours out of it because I was trying to impress a girl I had a crush on at the time and fell out of playing it very quickly. I just recently began to play the game again and have found a huge love for the game and the community around it, it’s crazy to think how different it was. I’ve now played almost 100 hours since very recently deciding to redownload it and give it a try and actually complete quest and make progress in the game. Some of the new stuff like the fish ponds I haven’t messed with because I feel it’s still so advanced for me I need to ease into it 😂 Very good video, crazy to see how far the game has come since then
