Camping In Gila National Forest | Lower Scorpion Campground

After a 17 hour drive we arrive at the Lower Scorpion campground in the Gila National Forest of New Mexico. Our plan is to get familiar with the area, visit the Gila Cliff Dwellings, and camp tonight before heading out on a 3 day/2 night backpacking trip within the Gila National Forest.
This is our first time visiting the Gila area, and we are both amazed by the stunning landscape! It's such a different environment than where we have backpacked before. We are looking forward to getting on trail, but tonight we rest and eat well. Tomorrow we set out on our adventure!
