Never skip Nine. Never EVER skip Nine.
He is fantastic
@@cheeplethebulldog1420 Absolutely fantastic.
Inuyasha TT I cant give a like because your are at 99.
TFDP117 and you know what?
So was David.
He's my first doctor. He might not be my favourite, but he will always hold a special place in my heart. I really appreciate his introducing Doctor Who to me. Only if he stayed for more series.
I feel very similarly. I'm glad I started with his first episode and never skipped ahead. His episodes may not be as epic or well made, but if Doctor Who fans really focus on him in the episodes I think they'd love it. I've noticed that whoever I'm watching is always my favorite.
Me Too
+julia0315 Jon Pertwee was my first. (my mother was a huge whovian, and had a bunch of old tapes. Mostly Pertwee and Baker.) But Eccleston was my REAL introduction into the series in terms of me actually watching it because I wanted to. So, going back and watching the old ones, watching the modern ones, Eccleston and Pertwee are still my 2.
That said, I'm loving the SHIT out of Capaldi.
julia0315 I so agree
julia0315 yeah same
I so wish that he had another season on Doctor Who.
agreed he was my first and favorite doctor
Me too :/ But he had to move on after the first season. Chris brought the show back, but there was one thing he couldn't bring back without having to leave the show :/ His regeneration...
OHVImedia Yes, But he still could've had just 1 more season...
he was the best docter
*****
He's awesome as the bad guy in "28 Days Later!"
Christopher Eccleston is one hell of an actor and seems to be a genuinely nice bloke.
Eccleston was great as the doctor, and I feel he's one of the most underrated to play the doctor next to Paul McGann, I wish he had done more than one series and at least appeared in the regeneration scene in The Day of The Doctor. As I recall a few years ago it was rumoured he would actually return and Matt Smith wanted him to, pity he didn't because for some reason I actually think Eccleston and Smith would have good chemistry together.
Actually, he was offered to take part in the 50th anniversary, but when he came in and read the script he turned it down, refusing to take part.
+Alex Creed No one has ever said officially why he turned it down. it could have been the script, it could have been scheduling, who knows?
The reason he left the show after one series was mostly out of principle. He said the crew were twats and the politics of the programme were out of order. So he cut his ties to the show and that's probably why he refused to go back for the anniversary.
+DaBIONICLEFan That's not exactly what he said. He got along fine with the crew. It was people above him in the hierarchy that he disagreed with. And when he talked about not liking the "politics", it wasn't anything to do with the content of the show, but with the interpersonal politics between the higher-ups and the people under them.
+AiliLinnea He was, incidentally, working on Thor: the Dark World at the time.
2:24 - He doesn't drive a car cuz he doesn't need one, he's got the *TARDIS*.

The first star to finish with a negative time XD
he has american accent there
5:13
They finally fixed the Chameleon Circuit!
Lol
Chris's smile is a national treasure.
I love that he seems almost shy while still being very funny and sweet.... Aw. I need to watch more interviews with him.
He has such a lovely, genuine smile. I love the fact he is only licensed to drive an automatic. I am too, passing my test in 2011 at the age of 31.
I love Christopher. He was my first Doctor
Mine too
I wasn't alive for him but he will always be my doctor
Lol same
+Kayleigh Freeman Mine three :D.
Mine too
Oooh, I love that moment where he effortlessly drops into an American accent.
I just love seeing him smile and laugh cause his eyes, his whole face lights up!
I know this sounds really random but I love his voice (not just his accent), he speaks really sort of softly not like in DW
I lost it at "You're virtually part sheep" 😹
2:56 was so brilliant. And the Top Gear team must have thought the same, since they set up just that race two episodes later, albeit with a different runner.
well, of course the Doctor runs. He doesn't drive, doesn't even drive his tardis properly, does he xD
the reason he doesn't drive/fly it well, is because the tardis is meant to have 6 pilots/drivers.
And yet his wife still does a better job on her own
true.
Yasumi Hoshikawa He always leaves the parking break on!
Yasumi Ⓥ I drive the tardis like it's suppose to! *crashes* *in* *to* *something*
I was expecting a "FANTASTIC" at the end :D
oh my god me too! XD
This video of Christopher Eccleston driving the Speed Lap on Top Gear was SOOO awesome! :D I really loved the part when he said "If I think faster... I'll go faster." :)
I know right? Have you seen the gif about 9, 10 and 11 being their characters in their laps?
Maisie Leyland I think we all did
Your surname's Rose! 😀
I don't believe the stories that he disliked being in Doctor Who. He seems fine with all the WHO references throughout this clip.
I think he liked it, but just saw it as a job more than anything.
He loved being the Doctor. The producers, however, screwed him over.
Peter Fitzsimmons What do you mean?
Róbert Menyhárt There are different rumors flying around, but the generally accepted version is that he disliked the way the directors and producers treated the rest of the crew. Apparently there was a really bad atmosphere on set.

Moffat was just a writer at that time. You can't in good conscience blame Moffat for the end of Eccleston's reign.
The only thing he wanted to do was make the show a success. After series 1, he did everything he wanted to do, and left before the role of the 9th Doctor became a namesake and not just another role. He'll sign anything, just as long as it is not for profit. He stated this on Graham Norton's radio show.
Omg I miss the ninth doctor! :(
Surprisingly eccleston is the 10th! If you were to listen closely to Matt breaking the rules of regeneration he says its his 13th regeneration! Kus like the war doctor counts
joeycoolstar1 Technically speaking, the War Doctor is not classed as 'the Doctor'.
@@joeycoolstar1 And now thanks to the new series he could be the 1000th Doctor
UGH, I just love him. So much. Chris is actually really good-looking despite what other people may say. That, and he also played a FANTASTIC Doctor.
I was actually close to crying when Nine regenerated. :')
i know this is 11 years old but ...same. still start to sob when i see him talking and smiling lol
In hindsight it's sad he had such a short run. He was a great doctor.
The best in my opinion
His driving was FANTASTIC!
I didn't learn to drive until about a year ago, and I'm 26 now. I'm so happy to learn about Chris not learning to drive until much later. I don't feel so silly about waiting so long now.
Fantastic!
THE WAY THEY MADE THE CAR MATERIALIZE AWW
Lol that Tardis entry by the Suzuki was priceless
He’s my first and WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAVORITE DOCTOR EVER, wish he had more seasons
We've had Nine (Eccleston) in the Liana, Ten (Tennant) in the Lacetti and Eleven (Smith) in the Cee-apostrophe-D.
Three different Doctors with three different TARDIS' X'D
hopefully next is capaldi in a monster truck
7:07-7:11 "You actually...bearing in mind, you're sort of-" "I beat Vinnie?!" THANK YOU. I don't know who Vinnie is, but THANK YOU. XD
When he said "I beat Vinnie", he meant Vinnie Jones, Sphinx from Gone in 60 Seconds...
+Daniel Gear AH. Makes sense.
@@danielgear8122 thanks, Vinnie Jones is brilliant in "Gone in 60 seconds" , but no one can compare with FANTASTIC CHRIS
Waiting for peter capaldi to.come on top gear now.
Yeeeeaaaa... about that...
DJN1GHTT3RR0R i was expecting that :))
Matthew Osborne I read that thinking "ah yes can't wait" then "awww... damn"
Same For me and I reckon that Chris Evans for series 23 should bring in other Doctor Who companions like Karen Gillan Arthur Darvill and Jenna Coleman since they might be better than Billie Piper Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant companion
Perhaps on the new show
I was kinda hoping he'd be on the 50th
so close...
regeneration scene, so close...
Same here. But his brief appearance, even though it was reused footage, was enough to make his fans pump their fists into the air and shout YEAH! That's what happened in the theater I saw it in.
jcoptimus with me, everyone started aplauding like they did with tennant, only to realise it was old footage
I'm still happy he made a little appearance, love him
Chris is so freakin' lovable. That smile of his makes me smile.
Dave really should show this episode on tv! Eccleston is just awesome overall, one of the best doctors along with Tennant!
I had to punch something every time the interviewer called him "Doctor Who"
I have to punch something every time some irritating dweek bitches about it.
Cé Té dweek?
Noah Caboose Dweeks = people who call themselves "Whovians" but they don't know anything about Dr. Who. Saying "his name is the Doctor, not Dr. Who" is their typical, because they haven't watched the whole series (including Classic Who), so they don't know the Doctor was listed as "Dr. Who" or "Doctor Who" for over 18 seasons, and in the Classic, people (and the Doctor himself) called him Dr. Who. That's why you are a dweek. :P
Cé Té Actually, I love the classic series, (Colin Baker is my fav) But he was talking to Eccleston, who last time I checked, wasn't in the classic series. So at that time he would have been "The Doctor"
Noah Caboose Eccleston also was listed as Doctor Who...
Class act! So lovely and kind!
in my eyes, he was the only doctor not afraid to let someone die, not afraid to leave someone behind and that was and is awesome
I loved the Tardis effect at the start of his lap. That was great!
He was the best doctor on doctor who.. ;D
He has a beautiful voice! OMG
Chris was so happy he beat Vinnie! XD
"Well, you're not truly a Northerner, because you're from Yorkshire. You're virtually part sheep, Jeremy"
~ Wow, love that!
Loled at the "Where's the nearest train station" bit. "I'm tight, I wouldn't give a door a bang" XD
I love it when he said he got interviewed during Gone in 60 seconds, and was asked what car he drives, and he said "I don't drive", and the interviewer physically backed away from him. LOL.
I had a friend who experienced something similar when he was in school and his parents didn't own a car. People treated him like he had the plague or something.
Why, oh why, did Eccleston leave Doctor Who so soon?! He was a good Doctor. But his handsome self is doing his lap here! ;)
he didn't get along with the crew.
Jeanna Stout Shame that, he was a great Doctor. Perhaps if they agree to his terms and treat him better, maybe he will do a cameo or another episode with him and 12th?
ya that would be awesome but the people that he didnt like have already left the show and he refused to do the 50th, unfortunately i dont think we will see him again :(
Jeanna Stout Darkcomet you waited 9months for an awnser that you could have typed up in 9 seconds, boy your patient XD
Phychic Pheonix LOL. I know right?
Still want to see Eccleston vs. Clarkeson in a car.
Christopher Eccleston looks. better with a beard
I never knew he was on Top Gear, this is absolutely, dare I say it.. Fantastic.
THE CAR APPEARED LIKE THE TARDIS OMG I'M CRYING
He's my favorite Doctor even though he didn't have as much episodes as David and Matt :) He's brilliant!
My Doctor
Love Chris Eccleston. So great!
i LOVE christopher ecclston , perhaps its the fact thats hes an amazing actor, puts the doctor across as a more convicting character and manages to look good with a beard..... i wish he had done one mor series of doctor who :(
loved him he was the best he never deserved the hate he got
He has such a lovely smile. I love when he says "Oh, did I?", Chris seems so happy...
i like the fact that hes marathon runner he fits the doctor in real life kind of,if i think faster\ may il go faster, i think he would of last way longer if it wasn't a rush set up remember this was the first season everyone was pushing pessure on it to be good and it was great.
I love Matt, and David is full of brilliant energy (actually Matt is too - fidgety energy), but Christopher is just amazing. I wish he had done at least a second series, then maybe people would remember him fondly easier. I love them all, but he has a huge special place in my heart.
My favorite Doctor. I hope he can come back for something Who related.
If they get the 100 anniversary for doctor who christopher will come back
Finally, in something of a coup for the BFI, Justin Johnson read out a special message from Christopher Eccleston: “I love the BFI. I love the Doctor and hope you enjoy this presentation. Joe Ahearne directed five of the 13 episodes of the first series. He understood the tone the show needed completely - strong, bold, pacy visuals coupled with wit, warmth and a twinkle in the performances, missus.
“If Joe agrees to direct the 100th anniversary special, I will bring my sonic and a stair-lift and - providing the Daleks don’t bring theirs - I, the ninth Doctor, vow to save the universe and all you apes in it.”
+Damian Arriaga He will be 99 years old on the 100th anniversary.
+Damian Arriaga He will be 99 years old on the 100th anniversary.
Hey! So, I'm considering on buying this as well because I love Eccleston! Look up Christopher Eccleston "The BigFinish"
9th: tries to drift
10th: FASTER
11th: mald
So completely under-rated. Thankful to him
Oh yes, Christopher. He was definitly my favorite doctor. But he really did not get as much credit as he deserved. As soon as David came in, a lot of people forgot about him. It's a tragedy to all Christopher Eccleston fans!
My... I LOVE HIM. I'm just remembering how brilliant he is. If I could rewatch any one series of DW it'd be Series One. I fell in love with it then. I would again now.
I miss him!!! ❤️
People...NEVER skip nine!
I would love to see him reprise the role, first Doctor I saw as a child man that show was scary when I was a kid.
I knew that but thanks for posting this for those who don't know. And I definitely agree on the last point :P
It's no problem now those who are curious can see the reason!
haha this is so amazing. "He actually physically backed away from me" love it lol Christopher was a great doctor!
Good Lord, he's really good-looking !
Time lord**
Joseph Wilke Ahahah good one! xD
yep he looks better with that beard :)
I loved the 9th doctor, this new one looks cool
Doctor Who made me cry ...
This clip gets me in a good mood every time! Love it!
The empty child and the doctor dances were scary, but the banter going on between the doctor and Jack made them some of my favorite episodes. But I'm amazed he can drive that well so quickly, I would probably do worse than Billie and spin off if I was on that track.
Considering he'd only been driving a little over a year, that was really good.
Did you know, that in the ending credits the character was called Doctor Who (and sometimes Dr. Who) in the classic series and during Eccleston's time?
What a gem of a man
I dont like how at the start he was calling him doctor who XD
Well in the original series the doctor was listed as "doctor who" in the cast (and he probably grew up watching that), but yea I don't like it either 😅
*in the credits (forgot the word for a sec)
Oh my god! i didn't know that he wasn't a driver before Doctor Who, so there's still hope for me to pass my practical test yet!
100% wicked actor. Absolute genius
“You sound like you’re from the north...”
“Lots of planets have a north!”
Christopher eccelston has the same birthday as me
HE'S SO ADORABLE
Christopher Eccleston was such a hero of mine growing up
love the tardis start up at the beginning of the lap
God, but he's got an adorable freaking smile. :D
Aww he's just adorable :) I miss him :( And I loved the tardis car :D
this guy was so good in 'Gone in 60 seconds' that line " Do I look like an asshole"... PERFECT
Yes
I actually watched gone in 60 seconds like 5 years before I discovered Doctor Who. He was my first and to this day my favourite doctor. Like a 3 months ago I was checking his movies and I see gone in 60 seconds. I literally watched that without realizing he was in there.
Aww, what a lovely smile he has. He seems like a real sweetheart.
If back then you'd said these two men would be blacklisted from the BBC both for having arguments with producers. You would've laughed so hard.
I mean, i wouldn't be surprised about Eccleston because one of the reasons he left so early was because of internal issues with the bbc. But Clarkson yeah...
Fantastic beard (yeah, the "fantastic" joke is so preconceived but works here ;)) and the most fantastic laughing eyes I've ever seen :D Maybe it's better that he left the serie so soon, sometimes "too less" is better than "too much" (considering that it would be possible to have too much of 9th ;))
well, that's what we call a cheesy comment :D :D
I watched this when I was a little boy.. Loved it.
I have to say, he wasn't the worst Doctor ever, he was a genius doctor. Many people don't seem to understand that. If you look back on series 1, the episodes were very serious but still had jokes and moments where it wasn't like that. In all honest, I think he was a very great Doctor and I was really sad to see him go.
I am so happy Chris is a late driver like me lol I got my license in 2009
the car randomly sounds LIKE a tardis
Ohhhh ok that makes sense! Thanks.
i just love how they tardised him on scene...
"If that was your car, tough." I would love to have Christopher Eccleston drive my car, even if he drove it like that or even crashed it. That would be the best story ever. "Oh my God, what happened to your car?!" "The Doctor drove it. NBD."
The most underrated doctor!!
He was so great. Tenant was "fantastic" (hehe) so I'm not complaining. But I would have loved an extra season with Eccleston.
I love how down-to-earth Chris is - look at what he's wearing - a normal button-down shirt, blue jeans, and boots, whereas David Tennant is always kind of flamboyant and flashy - I think that's why I will always love Chris
He's so handsome. Love him...
Thats the CARDIS. Cracks me up every time.
9th doctor was my fave. 10 is okay.. and 11 will grow on me..but ultimately 9 had this certain 'something' that made him... fantastic.
I really enjoyed Eccleston's Doctor, him and Pete Capaldi.....I think I like the older Doctors overall.
