Happy diwali to all. Yes marks definitely matter. Specially if you are general. Marks and no of attempt both matter . In many jrships general category students are not allowed to appear if they have more than one attempt. Also more than 55 or 60 %is must for general. Look for any jrship eligibility criteria. You might be master of extraction and access openings but your marks matter a lot.

    Good evening sir.
I got a government dental seat in UP.
    - I saw on quora, and also sought out many actual dentists and realised that dentistry isn't a very promising career.
I genuinely like this field but I'm scared.

What are the consequences of supple/year backs , how would it affect the various options such as govt jobs, jobs in hospitals , jrships and competitive exams.
    Can someone please answer this.

Neither if you want to stay in India & have other options.
But if you are interested in moving abroad then go with BDS. However, if you really have to choose between these two only & plan to stay in India, then BAMS is a better option any day!

if you are amoung those who are actually so much into MBBS ...and if you think u dint gave ur 100 prcnt this time .. then i would rather say that ...you can give ur self one more year ..drop the year and then see for urself ...bt if you are happy with ur marks ..and will be happy if u get a gov dental college ..that ofcrse u ll do get ...You can for sure opt dentistry .....see it is just a notion that mbbs has a higher value ...what we can do ; an mbbs cannot ...and what they can do ...we cannot ...althought ..BDS and MBBS have ..similar subjects in first three years ...and if you think about ur income ..IF U LL DO GOOD ...YOUR STARTING CAN BE 95000 TO 1 LAC ..it all just depends ..how much hard work u putt in all the years and in ur ..NEET PG

@@mahendranawghare1241 u know what I will suggest u to take a drop , or opt for private MBBS coz one thing is for sure if this is what u want to become a doctor there is no alternative to it , no please don't dare to rely on bridge course it's been so long ppl are waiting but it's no where in picture , see if u choose bds u'll have to do hard work to get ur self employed as everyone knows there r no decent jobs in private or govt setups after bds but with mbbs u can atleast earn decent to support ur family and be well set
There is no alternative to hardwork hence take a drop work hard and grab a mbbs seat👍 don't opt for BDS
