People have been saying Metallica are a bunch of sell outs since the Ride The Lightning album. Ride The Lightning? Ballads don't make them sellouts. MUsic Video? That video was very antipop. It was a middle finger to MTV Black Album? Slowing down there material doesn't make them sellouts. Black Sabbath is slow. Megadeth made a similar album & they wheren't called sell outs. Load & Reload? Haveing Blues influences doesn't make them sellouts. Black Sabbath has Blues elements.
