I remember Ancelotti starting Militao last season in the 2nd leg of the UCL tie against man city instead of starting Rudiger who had kept Haaland very quite in the 1st leg. That ended horribly. The fact that Thibaut played 2 La Liga matches in a row and attended any training like usual shows the staffs feel really confident about him at the moment, yet still have 2 matches between now and the Final. We just don't know what will they decide who plays in the Final. Whoever he is, he's the best keeper at that precise moment according to decision makers in the club.

Lunin’s play this season has looked passable at best and outside of a good penalty performance against Man City he hasn’t been particularly impressive. I’d understand not wanting to risk starting Courtois if he hadn’t had games to build on but he just started his first La Liga game last week (clean sheet) and the team has 4 more league games before the Champions League Final. 5 games is more than enough time for Courtois to prove his match fitness.
