    I want to try their products. I tried the SOS Spray and it did absolutely nothing for me. But I still want to try the blushes and bronzer. One thing that I want to share is that from a chemical point of view you can make the SOS spray at home (I was a sucker for supporting small companies). The ingredients are purified water, and salt. Hypochlorous acid is a natural occurring acid that is created when you mix H2O and NaCl (water and salt) some of the chlorine Cl disassociates and forms HClO (the weak acid). Glad that my degree could be used for one YT comment.

    • @kackie
      @kackie  Před 4 lety +41

      MAN this is great. Thank you. I edited out a lot of me saying "THIS IS JUST SALT AND WATER" because I was afraid of a chemist being like, "well, actually Kackie..." but the idea of being able to make it at home it genius, honestly. I think I'll pin this comment. Thank you.

    • @someonesomewhere22
      @someonesomewhere22 Před 4 lety +13

      I just finished the video and noticed that Kackie mentioned that fact that is salt water. But I wanted to add there are some benefits to salt water for people that have eczema.

    • @someonesomewhere22
      @someonesomewhere22 Před 4 lety +15

      Kackie Reviews Beauty you can 100% make it at home just use make sure that you use purified water, but even if you don’t is essentially the same thing. In chemistry we use distilled water because that’s the purest form of H2O and basically prevents you from mixing unwanted substances. But our water in the US is pretty much clean(for this purpose). Also sorry for the boring science stuff

      @kackie  Před 4 lety +3

      @@someonesomewhere22 Sure, but what do they mean by all the talk about environmental stressors, sun exposure, "happiness for angry skin" does that mean anything to you in this context?

    • @someonesomewhere22
      @someonesomewhere22 Před 4 lety +8

      Kackie Reviews Beauty I mean chlorine is very effective at killing bacterias (hence why we use it in pools) so they could be harnessing the fact that even though it’s a weak acid it still works as a “anti-bacterial”. But my field is more in Biology than Chemistry.
      And in regards to environmental stressors I honestly think they are just exaggerating because it technically attacks pathogens, but we also have hydrochlorous acid in our bodies naturally. Am I making sense?

    I also want to point out that it’s really awesome that they didn’t use child-labor sourced mica for their bronzers! It’s something that definitely more companies should be doing!

    I picked up the orange shade of the lipgloss, 'Fire,' and it is actually a new HG for me. It isn't nearly as pigmented as the red and just gives my lips more of a peachy flush. I'm really tempted by the glittery one too!

    Hypochlorous acid is used to treat inflammation of the skin around the eyes due to bacteria and demodex (eye mites). It helps treat the infection but is also soothing to the skin so I could understand where they’re coming from. I’m curious what concentration they’re using.

    So excited when I saw this video, tower 28 is one of my new favorite brands, the sos spray has really helped with the eczema on my face, the gloss is my new favorite, the bronzer and blushes are almost the only ones I use now, and I actually really love the highlight, mostly because I just don’t like the way pigmented/shimmery ones look on me 🤷🏼‍♀️

    I have been using the SOS spray as a toner, usually during my PM skincare routine. I am merely a skincare enthusiast, not a chemist or licensed esthetician, but it has helped reduce the redness that I sometimes have in my cheeks. I would not personally use it as a setting spray but I don’t mind using it as a mist on a makeup-free day.

    Great video like always! I am in love with tower 28 blushes and lipgloss. I have the beach please magic hour which I picked up at credo beauty in february. When bronzino launch I order happy hour and west coast plus the lip gloss in XOX. I like the packaging, the colors are beautiful and I find is a cute way to show case the colors. The dew balm "highlighter" reminds me of the honest beauty magic balm, which Jessica Alba uses as a highlighter. I did purchase the sos spray, I was suffering from dermatitis around my chin and mouth area, I notice the area is less red there's no more flaky skin or bumbs, but it can also be from the rest of my skin care, who knows?

    So surprised by this review! The SOS spray is so addicting. I use it every morning and post shower immediately and it like immediately staves off the sucked dry feeling my skin gets. I believe it is intended to be skin care and not a setting spray but they mention it as a setting spray to cover all basis. The lip glosses are hit or miss for me but I get a ton of compliments from the color fire. It’s gorgeous but the formula is neither here nor there for my preference. They kindly sent me both bronzers and while I am slightly fairer than you Best Coast turns so gorgeous on my cheeks as a blush and I’m completely obsessed. Like carrying it with me and reapplying through the day obsessed. Such a unique color!

I tend to veer towards that one for a bronzed/slightly burned look on my uber fair and pink skin. And I LOVED visiting Destin as s kid. The formula is very light and I think it's not as sticky as the Fenty (I'm only using the Fenty glow as reference, not the clear one). I absolutely hated the highlighter. I buy a spray on Amazon for $13/8oz (called skin smart) that is marketed as an antimicrobial for acne that I use after I workout. It has the exact ingredients as the SOS spray. It doesn't have any kind gross feel to it. Highly recommend!

    It does stinks, smells like the pull guess because of the the chlorine

    I *almost* bought the SOS spray when I had a damaged moisture barrier last year and my face was so sensitized and angry. Glad I passed on it now! Was NOT looking for a dewy face spray for that, I’d have wound up looking like a tub of crisco. 😂

    Does anyone know if the plastic packaging that tower 28 uses is recycled or recyclable because I’m really interested in the brand. Update: the brand has responded and said they can be 100% recycled, but many recycled programs struggled to recycle their small packaging so they are sold at Credo which is a clean beauty store and Credo is partnered with Terracycle. So you can give the products to Credo and they’ll take care of it and the products doesn’t have to be purchase from they’re store to go to terracycle.

    • @RachelLowes
      @RachelLowes Před 4 lety +1

      Christina guerrero I read the compacts are recyclable; that’s why the company opted not to put mirrors in them (apparently metal mirrors would make them un-recyclable when mixed with the plastic). No idea if it’s true. Just remember reading it because I thought “oh that makes sense.” On the other hand, seems like something the company would advertise more if it were true.

    • @kaylaguerrero4934
      @kaylaguerrero4934 Před 4 lety +2

      @Rachel O’Brien ok thank you I’ll email the company again to see if I get an official statement and I agree with what your saying about mirror, I know mirror in palettes or compacts can’t get recycled and that was thier reasoning for not putting one and they did say that thier boxes are recycled but they never claimed that the plastic was recyclable but I would assume so cause they are going all these other sustainable options and thier brand is based off a beach vibe or tower so they are most likely to know about the plastic pollution in the ocean and won’t want to contribute to more pollution

    Ok so I ordered my bronzino about the same time as you, because I remember seeing your update about it. I, too, ordered Best Coast by mistake. Now I’m thinking Sephora had some sort of glitch in their shopping experience because I SWEAR I ordered West Coast. 🤷🏻‍♀️ But I was actually kind of happy to see this from you because I don’t mind Best Coast, either! I layer it over my Nudestix Sunkissed cream blush/bronze and it’s perfect for the sunburnt look. ☺️

    A big yes for brands who mimick Glossier. Glossier can easily expand to more countries but they keep using the excuse of "language barriers" which is big nonsense. They have their success and now it apparently doesn't seem necessary to them to expand to other countries, despite the demand. At least brands like Tower 28 and Nudestix have made themselves readily available at Cultbeauty or other (online) stores that ship (mostly) worldwide. I might not be able to buy glossier, but at least I can mimick glossier looks with brands like that. Great review! Didn't like the dew balm either, way too much vaseline-like

      I am an oil slick literally 2 hours after I put my makeup on and this still stays on my face. I could get away with putting translucent powder on top of the cream blush to control my oil then eventually I'll be dewy. I've also put it on top of powder with a stippling brush and it still worked out.

My son was on the raw formula recipe in her book. Cheaper, cleaner, more fun, no side effects like: spitup, scalp and skin issues as well as reverse gut syndrome. My boy is a real beauty too!
