Forging a Knife From a Old file

Testing out a camera I got and seeing how I feel about filming while working.
Turning leftovers of a file into knife as I need one specifically for carving handles.
I find it to be interruptive and so I end up doing stuff off camera. For example, I didn't film doing a lot of the wood work as I wasn't sure the piece I picked would work or not.
The handle ending up shorter than ideal, and as I was too lazy to cut up a new piece the tang was too long and when shortened the change in profile negatively affect how easy peining would be.
In addition to that the tang mustn't have been annealed probably as it kept breaking. And without a torch makes it hard to re-anneal when the small blade is already heat treated.
