yeah, if it was a game that just checks the camera and shuts the door, then the jumpscares would be un-predictable and people will scream like a 4year old girl

Funtime Freddy’s is my favorite FNAF jumpscare, and that electrical room section in general is my favorite in all of the FNAF games. The fact that the game forces you to listen REALLY close to hear if he’s coming closer, which is the most nervewracking thing ever. The fact that you have to load each electrical system painfully slowly with a piercing beeping that blocks out the sound of the room. The fact that you are in almost total darkness and have no control over where the faint light is flashing in the room. The fact that Freddy is moving through the room effortlessly and with almost no sounds, like he’s teleporting between them, and strikes the most menacingly fake-friendly poses you ever see in the series. The fact that the mechanic you have to use to send him back has no clear indication of whether it’s actually working or not, creating even more stress when your brain fills in the gaps and still can’t make out what exactly is happening when you hit that button. The fact that he keeps making little quips and jokes, Kevin Goff’s psychotic voice emanating from his horrible grin as he talks about birthdays and fun as he approaches like a predator. And finally, the jumpscare itself, which has an entirely unique jumpscare sound, a metallic roar more than a scream, like an actual bear is leaping for it’s prey. The way Freddy moves into frame as his literal face opens to reveal his horrifying insides, the jerkiness of his head, his thousand yard stare directly into your soul… exquisite. No wonder Mark physically flung himself back, it’s like he was shot with a bullet. Genuine fright from him there, and from me the first time I played this game. Scott was so good at his craft when FNAF was in it’s prime. Steel Wool had good intentions, but let’s be real, they butchered the formula and the series never recovered.
The first jumpscare always hits incredibly hard as you don't know what will happen and how the jumscare will look and sound like, no other games made youtubers jump off their chairs from jumpscares, the golden part of five nights at Freddy's.
and how cool that his first jumpscare was foxy. there's just nothing like the visceral fear of your first time seeing him run down the hall while you rush for the door button, and imagine that experience without having any of the other other jumpscares yet
My first jumpscare was in FNAF4... i had no idea how to play the game and then bonnie jumped out on me... Now, when I know a bit about everything, Bonnie is still the most terrifying animatronic in fnaf4 and fnaf4 is the scariest game of them all. So having him scare me as a first? That was certainly something
I wouldn't say it's jumpscare quality, per se, as much as its execution. After all, Foxy's jumpscare in FNaF1 is the mildest thing ever, barring the noise used. Sound is an important aspect of gameplay. Not to mention, what works in a prerendered, atmosphere-focused environment isn't going to track when you're dealing with an overwhelming drug trip like UCN or a 3D environment like Help Wanted.
@@EpicJosh84 I think the biggest part is a combination of a build up of tension, the sound design, the lack of strategy and the anticipation. Once you get jumpscared once, you already know what to expect, but the tension caused over time by simply trying to survive combined with the fact that for FNaF 1 and 6 there isn't an "optimal strategy" like there is for the rest of the games causes the anticipation of the jumpscares to fade away, because you no longer anticipate it as you're more focused on surviving. Not to mention, when the power goes down, the timing of Freddy's jumpscare is never the same, he can wait until it's almost 6AM or jumpscare you immediately, even his song doesn't always play entirely. The randomness of FNaF 1 made the expected turn into the unexpected, you never knew if you'd make it or you'd fuck up and get killed. That's not even mentioning that Security Breach has the worst atmosphere and jumpscare sound of them all. In FNaF one the jumpscare sound made sense, it was the sound of a child screaming and the animatronics have the corpses of children stuffed inside of them. In FNaF Security Breach the sound that plays when an animatronic grabs you is the same sound that plays when the Security Guard grabs you, and she doesn't even open her mouth so where would the sound even come from?

And not in the Glitchtrap sort of way where he has creepy movement. The animatronics suddenly became less animatronic. And it’s also the color. Even though the Toy animatronics were almost as colorful as these, they had some darker colors and had other features that made them scary like Bonnie’s eyes or Chica’s lack of a beak or Mangle’s whole clown-like persona. And not even that, but the whole mall is lit up with colors unlike the grimy, broken, and industrial look of all the other locations. Nothing about this game other than possibly Vanny screams “scary” to me but rather just an enemy to you as the player. I also think the lack of suddenness to the jumpscare allows you to anticipate it before it happens, which has a lot to do with the open-map gameplay. FNaF was never supposed to be free roam, or more accurately have the animatronics run at you before the scream. This game just lost it’s frightening touch that all of the previous games had nailed down.
The entire fnaf fandom when SB exists: *Hating intensifies* In my opinion, SB was Fun, there just wasn't too much of an horror element in it, It had It's moments tho.
I'll never forget the sheer shock of the "I'm alive?!" In FNAF 3. I watched it the day Mark uploaded it and my reaction was the exact same after the Phantom Balloon Boy jumpscare. Lol. Good memories!

I feel like he legitimately got terrified to his core with Funtime Freddy, which is fair because that game, in my opinion, has the most terrifying jumpscares in any game.
Honestly I agree. FNAF 4 is terrifying because of the tension built by the breathing mechanic and atmosphere, but the Sister Location jump scares happen so fast and almost everything in that game is brand new, which already stresses the player out enough that the reactions to jump scares will ultimately be bigger
Pizzeria Simulator’s jumpscare genuinely shocked him despite him having years of Fnaf experience since it has an extremely tense buildup and almost randomly occurs. It’s effective since all you are doing is sitting in front of the animatronic bracing yourself for a potential jumpscare that you have almost no idea when it’s going to happen and all you hear is the strange droning noice coming from the recording.
God after his whole SB playthrough I nearly forgotten how bad the old ones would get him. Man was almost on the floor every time in the older ones. I know he's probably playing it up for laughs, at least to some degree, but it was so fun.

The entire fnaf fandom when SB exists: *Hating intensifies*
In my opinion, SB was Fun, there just wasn't too much of an horror element in it, It had It's moments tho.
I'll never forget the sheer shock of the "I'm alive?!" In FNAF 3. I watched it the day Mark uploaded it and my reaction was the exact same after the Phantom Balloon Boy jumpscare. Lol. Good memories!
The fact, that he managed to survive for the whole 17 seconds in 50/20 in UCN without knowing anything is actually cool.
I love how the script for every jumpscare is always "AHHH FAHHHAHAHHHH"
Mark in fnaf 3:
*"I'M ALIVE??? WHY AM I ALIVEEE??"*
Everyone’s first time playing fnaf 3
@sourptch12 I played the game like 8 years after it came out so I had enough knowledge to not even be phased lol.
everyone has memed on "was that the bite of 87???", but imo, "something is loose in my pizzaria???" is missed potential. its so fucking funny to me. something about how he says it in the most perfectly *Distraught* voice while lifting his face out of his hands just kills me. i can just imagine an actual pizza chef standing outside their restaurant, saying that line in the exact same manner of horror and distress, while a raccoon wreaks havoc on some tomato sauce in kitchen. (1:47)
For real
mamma mia, something is-a loose in my-a pizzeria!
something is not loose in his pizzeria but it is in his pants
I feel like I’m going to think about this comment a lot so I’m going to acknowledge it here
777th like :)
I love how the UCN control scheme is here, implying it is a jumpscare in and of itself.
Back when he had a soul
3:07 face of a man with no soul
don’t worry it’s just security breach failed miserably in being scary, hell i don’t think it was even trying
The Sister Location one sounds really loud, so that reaction is understandable.
Markiplier playing Fnaf 1 brings back old memories of when fnaf was a new fresh game
The last one man he just went eh.
The first time I saw fnaf 1 was when I watched a friend play it and I thought there was just this one idiot who decided to guard a house filled with murderous animals.
@@kyleco9185true very true
The franchise peaked at the first game, rode that success into the second game, but fnaf 3 and later continually got less interesting imo
"The first night is never usually that bad in any of the games"
Chica: What is love... baby dont hurt me...
Mark's biggest jumpscare was when he saw the Ultimate Custom Night controls 🤣
My first FNAF 2 Jumpscare was in the VR remake, I accidentally put the mask on, not seeing Chica in front of me, so I just took it off, and got jumpscared
In Help Wanted I was sure that toy bonnie came from toy chica's vent and kept checking toy chica's vent on night 1 until I got jumpscared
My first death was in help wanted fnaf 1, I closed the door on Freddy and 2 mins later I opened it and he was still there and I died
Once he's there, he never leaves.
@@Gibberishusernamehere tip : Stick your head out of the door to see if he left without wasting power
@@Gibberishusernamehere Yea but he stays in the shadows, you can repeatly use the door lights on the right door which he is usually in.
When I tried to play UCN, I just looked at the instructions, said “I'm not remembering that”, and then closed the game.

You have no choice, Afton.

About Sister Location, this wasn't his first jumpscare here, it was from Bidybad
Yup. This video is incorrect
I never get enough of his "I'm alive?" after Phantom BB gets him the first time.

Still, it's very interesting that with each subsequent game, he gets less and less scared. It's either that he has more experience, or the games are getting less scary.🙃
i love how in FNAF 1 and 2 he sounds like he got shot lol
The way Mark reacted with the Sister Location jumpscare, I wonder if it was not so much a scare as it was his eardrums being blown out. 😄
“The first night is never usually that bad in any of the games so I’ll play through-“
“🅰️🅰️🅰️🅰️🅰️🅰️🅰️🅰️”
“AH FUCK, WHAT THE FUCK?!-“
I love how all foxy did was show up and mark got scared
I feel like he legitimately got terrified to his core with Funtime Freddy, which is fair because that game, in my opinion, has the most terrifying jumpscares in any game.
Even tho the actual animatronic encounters are very limited
Honestly I agree. FNAF 4 is terrifying because of the tension built by the breathing mechanic and atmosphere, but the Sister Location jump scares happen so fast and almost everything in that game is brand new, which already stresses the player out enough that the reactions to jump scares will ultimately be bigger
@@isabellasears3569including the loud sound that the Funtime junpscare make is probably enough to hurt a player ears
hmm, it seems markiplier isn't cooperating. Let's cheer him up with a controlled shock:
(2:49)
0:58
Markiplier: “So the first night is usually never that bad in any of the games.”
Nightmare Chica: “So… you have chosen death.”
It weird seeing the evolution of Mark as a creator through this, it really did feel like we all changed and matured with him.
I love how at UCN the game is really quiet as normal and literally 10 second later it's become chaotic
The Iconic "Okay so the first night is never usually that bad in any of the games so I'll play through AAAÄÆĀÅ" will never get old

The more horror games he play, he builds a tolerance of not getting too scared.
The FNAF 3 one is so underrated
"I'M ALIIIVE!"
I’ve never seen any of these before and let my tell you, “The first night is never usually that bad in any of the games so I’ll play thr-“ IMMEDIATELY followed by Nightmare Chica killing him, actually made me fucking CACKLE.
The FNAF 4 one will always be the funniest thing ever to me XD
Now you just need to make the first time he got jumpscared by every animatronic.
FNaF 2's jumpscare is great, it's loud, quick and could be a lot of characters
It's nice to see how he's matured over the years, he no longer exaggerates things which is really nice
No hate to this comment, but it's not really exaggeration. Some videos, he still has bis "Big Baby Reactions". That's cause not only has he spent countless hours and endless FNaF games over the years, but the recent canon FNaF games weren't half scary. Pewdiepie says it as well, when you know what to expect, it's hard to get scared. Sure he matured in some reactions but it really is up to wether or not the game was indeed THAT scary. (Notice Phasmophobia, he has good screaming reactions that aren't immature, but aren't exaggerated)
@@caspothy5199 Yeah, I know the games haven't been as scary lately, but he's not quite as loud and doesn't have the high pitched screams when he does get genuinely scared (and I don't think that's a result of puberty) is what I meant
Adding my 2 cents to remind people Markiplier has a fear genuine fear of mannequins and I think it plays into FNAF.
@@reffmanlmao if your genuinely scared you'll always have a high pitched scream it's not maturity he's desensitized to scary content now which was inevitable
@@asap6763 The screaming pitch wasn't the problem, it was how long he would scream for and how he would visibly shake. I get that it is scary and that it is his phobia and all, but it was still exaggerated
2014-2016: *Serious whiplash and screaming from the scares*
2017-2019: *Confusion but small terror and chills from the scares*

0:06 is one of the funniest
the first two are the ones where he is the most jumped because the game is new and no one is accustomed to them whatsoever
I just noticed that in plenty of these he puts his hands up defensively in front of himself. It could just be theatrics, but- I have no follow-up to this thought, I just thought it was interesting. Or maybe as someone who tends to avoid horror games like the plague (hence why I'm immune to FNAF, BATIM, and etc.), I just never got the chance to see him do it-
fight or flight
As someone who personally is jumpy jumpscares tend to give me the same reaction.
0:33 TIMMY TURNER
I love how he gets used to the jumpscares and doesn’t react that much later in the games
You can kinda tell that his videos have gotten calmer as time went on
So to summon up:
Foxy
Toy chica
Phantom BB/springtrap
nightmare chica
Biddybab (because technically that was his first jumpscare in SL)
Molten freddy
phantom freddy/nightmarionne
VR Freddy
glamrock chica
yeah im stupid bidybab was the first jumpscare im so retarded
"Ok so the first night is never usually that bad in any of the games so I'll play through..."
I like how he would recoil back in his chair and then put his hands on his face and act like he’s in the worst amount of pain.
You can see his resilience slowly building overtime 😂
The first night is never usually that bad in any of the games...
I love how throughout each game he's gotten more sane and less scared each jumpscare lol
Mark really went a long way of FNAF jump scares
The fact that Mark us near numb to the SB jumpscares really says something 😭
I'm loving the transition between the jumpscares. Great touch to the video on your part.
