Off of Charles Bradley's new album Black Velvet, “I Feel a Change” was originally recorded as part of the Victim Of Love sessions.
November 5, 2018 would have been Charles Bradley’s 70th birthday. In celebration of his extraordinary life, Daptone imprint Dunham Records released his fourth and final album on November 9. Black Velvet features ten studio recordings never before included on any album.
Black Velvet is a celebration of Charles Bradley, lovingly assembled by his friends and family at Dunham/Daptone Records. Though chronologically the material spans Charles' entire career, this is no anthology, greatest hits or other shallow rehashing of the songs that already made him famous. Rather, this album is a profound exploration through the less-travelled corners of the soulful universe that Charles and his longtime producer, co-writer and friend Tommy "TNT" Brenneck created in the studio together over their decade-long partnership.

When I met Charles after a concert in the desert he came to me and my wife, hugged us and told us "FIGHT FOR YOUR LOVE!!! It's worth it!" Of course he didn't know but we had been going through a low point at that exact moment.
We never forgot his words. The man was a prophet and a transparently beautiful person. RIP Charles and thank you so much for your music and kind heart.

I feel so ashamed that I am just finding out about his death. "Why is it so Hard" got me through a rough moment. And I play Dusty Blue everytime I feel 🔥🔥
I bought tickets for his 2016 tour and never got to see the performance :( I was so bumped that I would never see Charles Bradley live. Until one day I was listening to "No time for dreaming" and I had a flashback to the 2012 Calgary Folk Fest and put two and two together and without realizing it I had already witnessed this great man perform and actually had videos and photos of his performance haha! It was so long ago I had totally forgot about the amazing soul singer with the shiny suit, back up singers and smooth band. His performance had left a impression on me but I foolishly forgot the legendary name, I remembered his show, his vibe, his VOICE. That just shows you the level of skill this man had. I am bad with names but his showmanship and genuine talent jogged my memory. I am still sad I can't revisit that with the full appreciation of his music catalog but I am happy I was touched with his grace and can relive it with his wonderful recordings. RIP Charles, you are 1 in a million!!!!
Holy fuck I completely forgot he was at the 2012 Calgary Folk Fest. I was there! I remember there wasn't much of an audience cause he was opening up for two other artists (it was probably around 5 pm). I can still almost recall his voice echoing throughout the entire festival. Wow I completely forgot that I actually saw him live. Thanks for reminding me.

Fortunate to have hung out with Tommy and Charles a few times. Such a genuine friendship and creative team. When Charles sang he was speaking to each person in a room.
