    just redid my system, made me realize i like good system. originally only swapped speakers cuz i didn't care, but they were wired up wrong, one left channel supplying both left speakers, one right supplying both rights. sounded like crap. rewired properly and added a little amp, sounds so much better than i expected it would.

    Great video guys. There is lots to think about when it comes to your boat's audio system and you pared it down to the essentials, making it all easy to understand. My biggest take away - Make sure you spec out your speaker's RMS rating so you do not blow out your speakers and you get the volume you want!

    How does this affect the fiberglass? Or any panel on the boat? Im talking about what are the long term effects that all that vibration has on the panels of a boat made up of more than one layer of a material??

    • @ndoc8889
      @ndoc8889 Před rokem

      When talking about subs, doesn’t affect the fiberglass other than cutting a big ass hole in a perfectly good boat for usually an underwhelming speaker. “IB subwoofers” are lazy, inefficient, terrible sounding options in a marine environment and any shop knowingly cutting 10-12” holes in a perfectly good boat should be responsible for the cost of fiberglass repairs. When it comes to marine subs, build a custom enclosure or don’t do it all.

Only 2 controllable zones, when there should be 3. Also, there is no equalizer. A lot of us boat owners are swapping out components. It sounds good, but I would like to add a sub. The factory amp on it is junk and you’re probably going to need to replace it. The factory WetSounds are the same as the recon series and can’t handle the power of the revo series. You’ll want a LOC ($25 passive LOC or $65 for active) since the enovation doesn’t have RCA outs. If you’re just wanting to do a sub then keep what you have and add an amp and sub.

    Sorry to post this here but the e-mail on your site is not working right now.
    I am building my own boat. If It matters I am making a 19 foot fishing boat with a 115 HP outboard engine.
    I have purchased a MOELLER 17 Gallon Permanent Below Deck Fuel Tank, 36.5"L x 18.25"W x 7.25"H Model # 8978462 fuel tank. It has connections for fill, vent and supply. My question is regarding the vent for the tank. I watched your video: "Does Your Boat Need A New Fuel Tank? Let's Install One! Aug 2019". In the video the vent was placed on the boat below the filler port. I am not sure how this works, but wouldn't that allow the fuel to pour out of the vent if the fuel was taken on until the gas pump "clicked off" when the tank was full? I am not doubting what your video said, but I just don't understand how the vent works I guess. I am concerned that there may be regulations which I am unaware of also.
    I am not sure where to place either the filler or the vent on my boat. I just don't want to mess this up by drilling holes where they don't belong. Can you point me toward more into on this subject?
    Thanks for your help,
    Dave

    I have 2 700w tower boss speakers and a pair of regular Rockville interior speakers....2400w amp on it and not on high gain. System gets very easily crackily sounding if turned up decently loud. Regular old boss head unit. What’s my first step in solving this? For sure a bit of a boat amateur but much more an audio beginner....help!

    I finally found a new to me center console that came with a fusion head unit and two fusion speakers in the gunnels. They sound good, but the blue tooth doesn’t work, so I’m thinking of switching to Simrad’s sonic hub and eliminating the head unit. Or is that a bad idea? Should I get another fusion or JL head unit?

      @nickfrancis681 Před 2 lety

      JL MM50 or 100, or Fusion Apollo 670. Not cheap but by far best option. Coming from a broker who’s seen it all. Sonic hub works but is tough to work sometimes

    So can I run a single amp to power 4 JL M3 7.7 and a JL m3 10inch sub? Which amp would you recommend?

    • @nickfrancis681
      @nickfrancis681 Před 2 lety +1

      JL makes a 700/5 which is perfect for that. Fusion makes a 5 channel signature 1600w that puts more power then that

    Is is possible to connect directly just with and ethernet cable a fusion stereo to a garmin chartplotter? or do you need a router? Specifically I have a garmin 722xs plus, and would like to connect a fusion RA 670 and would like to avoid installing and NME200 backbone.

    What happened to the velocity delaminates video

    • @BornAgainBoating
      @BornAgainBoating  Před 3 lety

      It wasn't a Velocity desafiantes video, we had to rework it because people were getting that idea. The boat hit a metal pole and didn't repair it properly, which filled the hull with water and then the weight and the trailer bunks made the repair delaminate. :) not the boat itself

    How do you adjust the ohms? Like if you are adding speakers, and need to tune the resistance. I had a deck boat come in, to add a tower. No biggie. But then wanted to add tower speakers too. 😱 Six speakers and no sub. He had a Xdm-4 Clarion head unit. How do you wire those two new speakers in, without having 2 channels that switch off/zone swap?? I left the wires hanging and labeled, under the helm, near the head unit. And told him to consult a stereo professional.
    Any thoughts?

      @yjad27 Před 3 lety

      Only way to change impedance or ohms is to add speakers in parallel. For example, if you put 2 x 4ohm speakers in parallel on a single channel, it will cut the ohm load in half to 2 ohms. If you’re adding more speakers wiring them in parallel will reduce the ohms and increase the power output. You have to see how low an ohm load you amp can handle. Most will do 2 ohms ok. Others will go to 1.

      Wiring 2 identical speakers in series will double their ohm rating.

    Turning the stereo off is best way to enjoy boating the most. In fact rip out the stereo and speakers is the first step for boating and sailing.

    if you have an amp of more wattages than the speaker ain't gonna break the speakers. How can you make an "audio" video without getting this right?
    You just have to be more careful with the volume knob. The proble is when you underpower your speakers and you need to push it to the max creating distorsion and eventually damaging your speakers.
    Useless.

    A great sounding stereo on a boat? Its the sound it makes as someone pries it out of the dash and splashes in the water never to blast music on the lake again. Seriously. If you want to kick out the jams, stay home or sit in your hooptie in the boat launch parking lot. On our boat we fish. We do not listen to music or talk radio or any thing other than what is happening in the moment. My life does not need a constant music soundtrack to make me feel engaged. I love music, I really do. It just doesn't need to come along on the water. IMO, of course.
