Essential piece of kit are definitely the seamless base shorts! I made the mistake of wearing a pair of base shorts that had seams...they lasted one day before going into the bin and there was a lot 'airing' that had to happen that evening! 🥴

I have walked multiple Caminos and my pack weighs between 3.6 kgs and 4 kgs depending on the time of year.
I would not use Gortex for the simple reason it doesn't work in the rain.
I prefer a poncho because it's lighter and doesn't cause sweating.
My Camino rucksack is 25+5kgs which is plenty big enough.
I had Merril Moabs and I hated them.
I found Darn Tuff socks to be too tight.

Thanks Harry. Yeah, I’ve changed a lot since this old video.
I still love darn tough, good for my feet (we all have different shapes) and I get brand new ones every year due to the lifetime guarantee. I put holes in 2 pairs this summer. 😳.
Last backpack was 2.9kg (plus CZcams stuff and half a ltr of water).
I agree with the goretex, fast drying non waterproof trail runners are my go to choice now unless I’m expecting snow.
I also don’t like Merrel Moab - the Camino I did in those was the closest I ever got to a blister.
I still hate ponchos though - the Camino’s I just finished I used a jacket and dcf kilt with a total combined weight of 130g and the jacket doubles as a keep warm layer in the evening 😊
4kg is impressively light if that is your winter Camino pack. I’d be over that for Winter. 👏🏻👏🏻😊

I find that any jacket and trousers that keeps rain out keeps sweat in.
I wear a lightweight Berghaus puffer jacket on cold days with a poncho over to keep out the rain.
That combination keeps me warm and dry with no sweat.
My shoe choice are Altra Olympus worn with Injinji toe liners with lightweight merino wool socks over.
      Zero blisters.
Shoes must be full size bigger than usual shoes to accommodate feet swelling.
I use my trusty cotton sleeping bag liner mostly.
If I go very early or late in season, I can take my lightweight two season Berghaus sleeping bag instead.
I carry no first aid kit and my hygiene stuff consists of small shampoo which I use for washing me and my clothes.
      A razor with two blades.
      Toothbrush and paste.
      A small pair of scissors.
I carry a small European charger with two charging ports.
My Samsung Galaxy and a Samsung power pack.
My attitude is that Spain is a modern country and anything I need I can buy there, something I hardly ever do.

I’m glad to help 😊. I just uploaded a brand new one in the last few hours recorded right here in San Martin, just past halfway along the Camino Frances with updates that make my pack even lighter than on this video if that would also be of use to you. As long as I help a few people I’ll be happy 😃. Thanks so much for watching.

So helpful! Thanks. By chance, did your 7 kg include the backup itself? And does it also include your water bottle full of water? I'm learning how to pack now.

Thanks for watching, I’m glad my videos are helping. 😊
Yea, the weights include the backpack but not water. For the entire Camino, (other than 1 day after Carrión de Condes I think), I only had a 500ml bottle (Smart Water or Huel) which I would refill at the various fountains along the way and of course stop a lot at the numerous bars and coffee shops for cafe con leche etc. At the most, you would need 2 500ml bottles which would be about another 1 kg full total. 😊

I have another video on the channel which just shows the very basics I would pack which comes to less than 6 pounds / 3kg allowing you then to add on your personal luxuries on top. Buen Camino in advance 😊
