In between I am wild camping, doing the British "Ways", while also trying out and reviewing new and classic outdoor gear and hopefully coming up with the perfect backpack list for every occasion.

Hi Nick - nice videos. Heading off on my first Camino on the Primitivo in 2 months Can't wait!!!
Thanks very much and Buen Camino to you. You will love it. 😊😊
A big backpack!! 30L is plenty if you have a big bag you will fill it! You can always buy things along the way! I prefer to take my 25L and I tend to go in cooler months.
I loved the Meseta to be honest with you, walked it in june 2024, everything was still quite green ♥
Meseta is my favourite part of the Frances. It’s where I feel the most free for some reason and all my best life changing thoughts happen there 😊❤️
@@NickLivingLife exactly that...for the life of me i don't understand the "skipping the Meseta" 🙂
@nancycompagnie6500 I probably won’t ever do it in reverse again but if I ever only have time for a few weeks, I’ll just do Meseta 😊
Well, i can believe the fun part 🙂 I met up with Erica and Ricky in Santiago, we had a coffee together ♥ My kind of people 🙂
They are beautiful people. They were only about 4 days behind me on Primitivo this year I think. 😊
@@NickLivingLife i was planning to meet them in Saint-Jean but i had a bad fall in Amiens (France) and ended up in the hospital for a couple of days, had to recover for a bit so i lost about 2 weeks. I did continue where i left of after that but Erica and Ricky already left SJPDP when i arrived there and they didn't stay on the Frances as you know. Anyway, we kept in touch and we ended up arriving in Santiago the exact same day 🙂
@nancycompagnie6500 Everything works out in the end. 😊😊❤️
never heard of it 'till now 🙂 Ah well, there will be a next time...
So many haven’t heard of it. The man in the church has nobody showing up to claim one. Maybe he enjoys it better that way 🤔😊
This is absolutely marvelous, maybe one of the best videos I've ever seen about the Ruta de los Hospitales! I'm planning to come back to the Primitivo for the 5th time next year, and this surely made me wanting time to go by even faster so that June 2025 is finally here! Cheers Nick and Buen Camino!
So kind of you my friend 😊. Can’t wait to see where we accidentally meet up next 😂😂
Thanks for your excellent video! Can you link where you purchased that Velcro water holder on your strap? I will be doing the Camino Frances next month. Thank you so much!
That’s part of my backpack. There are some available that I know of for packs that don’t have it but from America. Garage Grown Gear .com will probably have them and they are either made by Gossamer Gear or ZPacks. 😊
@@NickLivingLife thank you, I will look for it!
Sir You have witnessed THE WAY MOVE spots But your vidioes are best one We are expering commino
Thanks so much 😊
Ugh! That water passing would have killed me. You’re a better man than me!
That was the last mud of the Camino …just like the hills, there’s “definitely” no more coming from now on 😂😂. Hope you are well my friend. 😊😊
Hi Nick, glad so to see you're up to the usual shananigans again 😊 Just got back from my 3 month camino, would love to do the primitivo one day . Thanks for sharing 🙂
Welcome home Nancy and congrats. How was your’s this year? 😊😊❤️
@@NickLivingLife It was great, it was my first camino actually 🙂 months is a long time to be away from home but i had the time of my life.First one but not the last one for sure if i stay healthy 🙂
I’m so glad you had a lovely time 😊. I feel sure you’ll do it again. It’s hard not to go back again and again ❤️
Do the services run from St Jean Pied De Port?
There is a service from a place approximately next door to the pilgrim office in St Jean (down the hill direction on the same side) which will do the route into Spain, where there are then many more options. 😊
When the way-marking is confusing, what map or app do you use to check the route?
I use 3 apps at different times. I like Wise Pilgrim, Buen Camino and Camino Ninja. Any are fine on their own though as they all show a map of where you are compared to the route 😊
Heat video thank you Nick.
Thank you very much Dan 😊😊😊
Another brilliant video Nick, so good to see the trail again. I stayed in Castro, you walked passed the beautiful albergue. It’s a beautiful old stone building, a former school house, and a lovely young couple who run it. Thanks for sharing, enjoy😊
Thanks mate. I’ll look to stay there when I do Primitivo again (which I absolutely will - I loved it ) 😊
My goodness, Nick. That is quite a journey! There are some incredible viewpoints you have been experiencing! Nice!😊
I’d better keep it fresh in my mind. I’ve just had to cancel my Frances in September due to other less fun commitments 😩 I’ll have to get some British 🇬🇧 Ways done instead over the Summer. It’s about time I filmed some videos for my new channel so I suppose it gives me more chance to do that. 😀. Always a bright side to everything if I look hard enough. 😊x
It sounds as if there is a more important matter that needs addressing. One day, one step at a time😉 You have wonderful videos, Nick, with very meaningful lyrical songs. Thank you🥰❤️
just to say mate, on the Primitivo, the flat part of the shell point the direction you’re meant to go, nice one
Thanks for this. I’m always learning. I’ve never noticed them in any direction other than flat to the left ((or at the bottom in the case of metal ones in the floor) but I haven’t been looking 👀 like that. Really appreciate this advice 😊😊
You look sooooo happy Nick ❤ Being free to see all those views... amazing😮Thanks for sharing them with us all 😊
Hey Wendy 😊❤️. I’m super happy 😃 xx
Another lovely video Nick. The scenery is beautiful. I did the Camino Portugues in March this year and am yearning to do another one. Watching you on a different one each time makes me want to do it even more . Thank for all the videos you do , they are so inspiring.
That’s a lovely message. Thank you Debbie 😊❤️. Which one are you thinking of next? x
@@NickLivingLife the Camino Frances
Me too. I miss it and feel the pull to go back 😊😊
@@NickLivingLife maybe we’ll bump into each other on a future trail.
@debbiewilliams9874 it’s very possible. I seem to bump into people all the time (especially in Santiago). Makes something amazing even better! 😊😊😊
Hope the snake was not in the soup!
Haha. I thought about how that looked once I’d already uploaded it. 😂😂.
Thank you 😊
Thank you too 😊😊❤️

Thanks Anne. Primitivo is great 👍 😊
Thanks for sharing your adventure and all the work it takes.
It’s absolutely my pleasure. Thank you for taking the time to comment. I really appreciate it ❤️😊
Nice video, Nick. I'm walking the Primitivo in two weeks. Looks like I might need some rainwear. Buen camino!
Fantastic! You will LOVE it. Buen Camino! 😊😊😊
Great - thank you. 😊
Thank you 😊😊😊
Lovely video Nick, you have captured the essence of the Primitivo beautifully. I was there just a couple of weeks ago, stunning landscape, a Camino I’ll definitely do again.
Thank you. Amazing place isn’t it 😊It’s definitely up there as one of my top Camino routes. I’ll also be doing it again. 😊😊
Beautiful footage Nick 👌
Hugs. 🤗 xxx
Some amazing footage you've captured here, mate. Very impressive, and also so good to see the route we walked and had so many laughs on.
Thanks mate. Does it feel odd seeing it from a different perspective or does it just blend in with what you remember? 😊
@@NickLivingLife Good question, it's lovely to see a different side to the day, as we had moments during the days when we walked solo, then together. This way I get to see what you were up to when I was elsewhere 😂
@Caminohacks 😂😂😂😂
Great video. Was there last month and lucky enough to have great views (no low cloud or mist) though the wind at the top knocked you sideways and was freezing! Interesting to see the drone shots. Thanks Nick.
I’d have had no drone shots with wind like you had. I almost lost it a few days later when I took it higher than a ridge and straight into a wind current, it was a real battle trying to fly it back 😂 Would have been lovely to see some of the views you would have seen though. 😊😊
@@NickLivingLife Ouch, yes, true! They are spectacular views when you can launch it though. The views we had there made up for those lost earlier in the Norte on some of the coastal paths under grey skies and constant drizzle. The same wet muddy paths too - my waterproof socks were suddenly useful!
I’ll definitely go back in a few years and see if I get luckier with the weather. Probably Norte too actually to see if it looks any better in the sunshine. ☀️😊
Looks like an amazing stage. Cheers Nick.
The middle 6 days of the 12 are all jaw droppingly beautiful. I’m so impressed with this route. 😊😊
@@NickLivingLife As you may know, I had to stop the Frances in June at León due to injury and plan to return mid September to complete it. It’s my first time on the Frances and I’m torn between completing the normal Frances route from León or taking the Salvador then Primitivo. In some way I think I should be taking the traditional Frances route, so I can say I completed it, but the Primitivo looks so beautiful/quiet that I think I need to follow my heart and detour onto it. Maybe I’ll do both, complete the Frances then bus it back to León to do the San Salvador/Primitivo 😂
@grahamwallace that’s a tough decision Graham. There are some fantastic places after Leon (not the first day after though) on the Frances. Salvador and Primitivo have ludicrously incredible landscapes though with Salvador being almost maximum solitude followed by Primitivo which surprised me in that there was a community and infrastructure almost like the Frances. If you have the time do both, it was an easy and comfy bus from Santiago to Oviedo from the bus station. 😊
@@NickLivingLife cheers Nick! I do have the time so might just do that.
Strait is the gate and narrow is the way - keep going Nick!!
Thanks mate. 😊😊
Hi Nick👋 It is definitely primitivo! It's beautiful to see, but maybe a little too challenging for a first-timer. 😂
Some tough uphills Grace but certainly easier than Salvador and Vadinience. It’s all doable with a bit of training and taking it nice and easy 😊😊x
Perhaps after I finish the Camino Frances😊😍
@galtmann8482 I’ve just booked travel to arrive in St Jean to start walking around September 10th (ish). I don’t think I’ll have time to do the full Frances this time as I have also booked some time in Yosemite in October but it will be nice to walk some of my favourite parts again 😊
From Spain to California, wow! What made you consider Yosemite? Are you going with family or friends? I live west of Yosemite by the coast! Interesting!
@galtmann8482 I’ll be going with my friend. It’s been on both of our “bucket lists” for a long time. We spent a week in the Grand Canyon a few years ago and considered going back to Trans Catalina trail but Yosemite is calling us both for a short visit. We will obviously be tourists and do our usual South California and head up the PCH and visit San Francisco too if there is time. Only a short visit as I will have blown a lot of my travel budget for the year by then 😂
Thanks for sharing your journey we us. Hugs❤
You are so very very welcome 🤗😊x
Tack!
Tack Lotta 😊😊😊❤️❤️
jag fuskar med google 😂😂
Thanks Nick for another beautiful video. Thank goodness you didn't have smell-a-vision for the part with the cows!!!
So true Anne. The it’s a smell I’d rather forget. I was being followed by flies in the afternoon trying to land on my shoes! 😂
😂😂😂
Thanks Nick. Perfect timing, so needed one of your videos. Well done.
I really enjoyed editing this one. All the best my friend 😊😊
Hey Nick! It's Tom from Ireland. Your video brought back good memories of the rain in Paladin!! Brilliant stuff! Looking forward to seeing the rest of the series. I've just uploaded a few videos of the journey myself - but just for a bit of fun. I didn't plan to make videos so I don't have a lot of footage this year....but it's a great way of processing the journey once you're back home again. Cheers!! Talk to you later!
Hey mate 👋. They are useful. I’d barely remember where I was and in what order without making the videos 😂😂. You really should publish that book mate! 😊
It's claimed to be the oldest but that's not true. The route of the Frances was used by pilgrims for at least 1200 years before the Primitivo.
I completely agree 👍. It’s most likely the one of the oldest official routes called a Camino de Santiago with Bishop Teodomirus announcing the discovery of the remains in around the year 800 but people were walking a pilgrimage across Spain a long long time before there was ever even a place called Santiago de Compostela. Even the routes keep changing with most of the yellow arrows being placed in the 1980s. Whichever route I take though I know it will be brimming with history, legends and a feeling that I might be walking in ancient footsteps 😊
The arrows were painted in 1986 by Don Elias Valina. He was from the church in O Cebeiro. He went to study at the Fonseca college in Salamanca. He discovered the fact that the Frances was in danger of being forgotten. He took it on himself to kickstart the Camino route. He set off with his old car and gallons of yellow paint to mark the route. Along the way he managed to get support from local people who assisted him. The stone markers and shell signs were as a result of his efforts. Sadly he died in 1989 so didn't see the effects of his work. .@NickLivingLife
A LOT of people owe him their gratitude for sure 😊😊
Hi Nick, it's Grace. Wow, the Primitivo looks so beautiful. Yes, it does look a bit more challenging, but I must admit, seeing you with Dan was really fun for you both. Thanks for the video. It's quite beautiful 😍
We really made friends and having Dan and David as part of lovely Camino family really made it special 😊
I am beginning to think I will experience a lot, physically and emotionally, when I begin my journey in September 😍🪷
Hopefully you will Grace. Even the hardships are part of the story in the end and all those moments are what makes it all so special. I’m excited for you 😊❤️
Thank you, Nick🥰
Cheers Nick - I have been thinking about doing the Camino Primitivo so I really looking forward to seeing your progress and reading your thoughts.
You’ll decide to do it next after the next few videos mate. It’s an awesome Camino. 😊
Love the work of your new cameraman, give the fella a raise! 💰💰💰
He’s unavailable to be full time as he also runs a blister clinic 😂😂
@@NickLivingLife ha ha, I've heard his clinic is looking for a new receptionist due to the increase in patients.
Might need several. People were dropping their socks and forming queue at the sight of him 😂
@@NickLivingLife ha ha
Love the comment on your warm up “Lisbon to Santiago” 😂
Haha. Top tips! 😂😂
When I'm older I want to be just like you, you're living the dream Nick
I’m making the best I can out of being older for sure. In my mind I’m still 25 though 😂😂
I am older and I still want to be Nick. Giving it a shot. 👍
@Maryann110 😂😂😂
I leave for the Primitivo in 39 days. My third Camino, first two were the Frances from St Jean. Would you say it is much more difficult than the Frances in regards to terrain?
The middle 3 days are all like the first day of the Frances. Not more difficult but they are all in a row. Certainly worth training a bit for 😊
@@NickLivingLife Well, i've pre booked the whole trek and divided it into 17 stages. So I've got time. 🤣🤣
@PaladinBlades loads of time in 17 days. You can soak it all in. 😊😊
Tnx for another beautiful video
Thanks again 😊😊❤️
