    I am recently retired at 60 living in Md. My girlfriend and I are in the early stages of looking and possibly relocating to a different area. Most likely we will not look in the Florida area,..however,..we both enjoy watching your videos because it gives us insight into the trials and tribulations,...and the Good, Bad,..and Ugly that really could apply to any area. I personally enjoy the delivery style of your videos,.....and the love AND respect you both seem to have for each other.

    Thanks for your show and insight! I’m thinking about retiring early. I’m 55 now and am looking into various retirement communities. The Villiages is definitely one of them. I’m from WI, so here we spend at least 50% of the year (October-March) inside because it’s too cold to be outside. A week ago the high was -7 (real temp, not windchill). Heat sounds good to me. I can definitely handle 90s for 25% of the year.

  • @ggbice
    @ggbice Před 3 lety +5

    You are full fledged Floridians now.
    I vow each Summer, not to complain about the humidity here.... it's hot in most states that time of year. Non residents may think we have the same temps and visit the beach all year. Not true, we have
    a considerable change DEC. and JAN. This a.m. is a prime example. No shorts and sandals today! My heat is on, and soup was made last evening. While the change is refreshing, I would rather it be warmer.
    The longer you live in Florida, the more you adapt and appreciate.

    My husband and I have been here 2 years this fall also. We are snow birds coming from L.I., NY. Lots of traffic and high humidity there so we are used to it. Traffic circles are at first intimidating but you get used to it really fast and they're much nicer than waiting at a traffic light .FYI viewers: Golf is only free to residents if you walk using your own equipment like a golf bag cart (available to rent $1.). Using a golf cart $4. per person which is still really cheap.

Every one of them absolutely loves it there. So I had one of my client's real estate agent spend an afternoon with me and my wife in July 2018. It was hot, but so clean and beautiful. I was sold right then but my daughter is still in college. I'm taking my father-in-law down next month to again meet the real estate agent so he can see it. great video i think you gave a very accurate view, we think while summers are hot they are tolerable, not every day is humid over the top, in the summers we get tee times in the morning and in the winter early afternoon. the one thing we added that has made a huge difference is an air conditioned golf cart, it is amazing and the a/c works better than the a/c in our car, game changer, plus it has heat for the winter and power everything. we love your videos they are very informative for people trying to learn about the villages

    We lived in Orlando back in the mid-90s and it was the "elephant in the room" HEAT that drove me and my wife back to good ole' New England. I am a runner and you simply cannot run in Florida when it is HOT...no way (for me anyway). But, I just ran the beach this morning here in New England with the temperature 23 degrees and I felt great...why? I dressed for it!!!!!!! But you cannot "undress" enough in order to run in the heat in Florida! That said, we met a LOT of GREAT people in Florida and it certainly has its charm too! And there were people who thought we were CRAZY to move back to the "frigid" north! Anyway, keep those videos coming and all the best to "GIZ!!!!!"

      I agree with you Stuart, We resided
      in Fort Myers fl.
      For 5 years. The heat and humidity was so unbearable (from May through October) we sold the house and moved back to the North east. I’ll take the cold weather (snow included) over the extreme heat and humidity anytime. Also, I find the cool weather refreshing compared to the feeling of walking around with a soaked hot wool blanket draped around your neck. Florida heat is not for everyone.

    It's the humidity more than the heat. I was born and raised in Southern California. When I was 16 in 1960 my family drove to Orlando to visit relatives. Our car did not have air conditioning. We stopped in Houston and New Orleans on the way. My observation was why would anyone live were it was so hot and humid. Many years later my job took me to both Houston and New Orleans and air conditioning makes it livable. I also lived for 4 years in Indonesia. Indonesia was always humid but not as hot as New Orleans, Houston or Orlando. It's hard to beat the weather in California but the politics, taxes and regulations are the pits.

    Shampoo under your arms! 😂 TOO funny! We lived in Virginia about 18 years ago. It was very humid there too. We lived on the peninsula. I’m so happy for you having your 5th grandchild! I think they’re one of God’s greatest gifts! Crime happens everywhere these days. Is there a police force in The Villages?

    Jerry and Linda been to the Villages multiple time love it our plans are make the move in 2021. The Villages is kinda of a bubble with surrounding areas as a lot of Florida poor so outside the bubble you will have crime , but it won't stop me from the move. Another great video have a Merry Christmas and a safe and healthy New Year

    Congrats on No. 5 grandchild - wonderful. Loved all the topics you covered and as always value your humorous and informative point of view - always helpful. Thank you........ However, Florida’s Friendliest Home Town ...... but - golly - don’t try to park your golf cart wrong or take too long on the green, miss a bit of the edging, not swap out your “soapy” t-shirt, or even think of resting your RV on the property for more than 3-days!!! LOL. Looking forward to part 2. Take care and Merry Christmas to your happy trio {considering Gizmo} and your loved ones.
