    I just made myself a personal mantra/motto:
    I canNOT foretell the future...
    *I will tolerate uncertainty
    *Enjoy the journey and
    * Be a learner along the way.

    Hi Dr Rami. Thank you so much for your very helpful video’s, I have have had depression on and off for many years (70years)and have never come across so much information that describes how I think, I know now that I have Anhedonia, as well as other symptoms of depression that you describe, it has been a great relief to put a name to it..I have been seeing a psychotherapist for the past three months..and along with your help I feel more optimistic now than I’ve felt almost most of my life!! I’m nearly 83 and can honestly say you’re information has been a LIFESAVER..thank you so much again.🌈🙏🏼🇬🇧

    Having realistic expectations and patience with the outcomes is also a big help. Committing to persistence itself as contrasted with a commitment to outcomes. I've heard this expressed by successful coaches as "just run the play to the best of your ability". I guess this is tolerating the uncertainty?

    • @DrRamiNader
      @DrRamiNader  Před 2 lety

      Hi Joe - very good insights. You are absolutely correct that realistic expectations are key and the focus needs to be on the process (which a person can control) instead of the outcomes (which a person can't necessarily control).

  • @JamieOngVoiceCreatorStudio

    Yes Dr. Rami, this video really helps. I was feeling confused with the things I am doing and the things that is happening around me. I have many doubts on myself, eg. my abilities. I doubt if the things I said is really something I can do. Trying to calm my thoughts, and your video notification popped up.
    Thanks so much, I will practice.

    Thank you again Dr Rami
    I am retired and do voluntary work which is challenging because I am learning the skills necessary and it is a slow
    Process. The alternative is to find another jod or stay at home feeling trapped and depressed. There is no pressure on me by the management except the pressure I am putting on myself. Is it just a case of riding the waves of anxiety until they subside.I have made amazing progress with the depression and anxiety and I am scared of falling back into it.

    Wow that explains it. I have questine please, every time i go to the hospital, i like the nurse to wear cloves or use hand sanitizer before drowing blood, but many times the nurse didn't wear gloves or use havnd sanitizer before drowing blood, i dont like that but i always fail to ask and after that i blame my self for not asking her to wear cloves or use hand sanitizer as she deals with dofferent patience. That example of many re accuring problems that i face and have negative feelings about but fail to talk and solve it and then keep blaming myself. Thank you

    Is worry g.a.d anxiety linked to having one day of hyperventilation worry and then another day feeling like I have a knott in my throat both lasting the whole day and night?this is such a agonizing manifestation feeling my anxiety has been consistent I mean Ive had panic attacks and anxiety that last usually 15 minutes then disappeared but know it’s been consistent gad anxiety for 5 days straight from when I go to sleep and till I wake up in other words I can’t even sleep and if I do I get like 2 hours

    • @DrRamiNader
      @DrRamiNader  Před 4 lety

      The anxiety in GAD is associated with excessive, difficult to control worry. What you are describing sounds more like panic attacks, as you didn't mention anything you are worrying about.

      Dr. Rami Nader I’m worried about going outside I’m worried of getting another gagging panic attack while outside I haven’t left my house or drove my car I just woke up now trembling feeling cold and with nauseas in the morning I don’t want to eat cause I feel like I’m going to throw up it’s like I’m living a cycle in my head after the nauseas comes the hyperventilation then it goes away and then the knott on the throat comes but the difference is I don’t freak out like A 15 min panic attack I just feel the process of the symptoms threw out the whole day and I just want to break this cycle 😩😩😩 that I’ve never experienced before

    What about misinterpreting a situation and seeing problems that aren't there?
    Assuming that I must have done something wrong thereby creating a problem, but being wrong about doing something wrong

    • @DrRamiNader
      @DrRamiNader  Před 3 lety

      That's an interesting idea. In the situation you describe then, it would be a type 2 worry (worry about a problem that doesn't exist), so when you start to try and solve the problem, you will realize that the problem has not happened.

    I tend to have 1&2 but what to do when we are aware of number 3 and the possibility of doing something isn't there? I'm not happy about my life in the place where I am living now, it makes me very anxious but because of the pandemic there isn't much I can do....
    Thank you very much for your videos, they are very helpful.

    • @DrRamiNader
      @DrRamiNader  Před 4 lety

      Hi Paloma - the issue here seems to be defining the problem. While you can't do anything about the pandemic, the idea is to think about the problems that the pandemic is causing and address the
      NPO regarding those problems. For example, thinking about what aspects of your living situation are problematic - e.g., being in the house with everyone all the time and not having any time for myself. Once I am able to recognize that as part of what's causing me worry and anxiety, then there is something I can potentially problem solve. I'll be getting into specific problem solving skills in the next video. I'm not sure if that answers you question, but I hope so. Thanks for watching the videos and I'm glad you're finding them useful.

    • @DrRamiNader
      @DrRamiNader  Před 4 lety +2

      @@palbau-6579 That's a tough one. Points out that not all problems are imminently solvable, so the focus is more on coping and using tolerating uncertainty and challenging worry beliefs to manage excessive worry associated with that problem.
