  • Ego has a new 52" battery mower- BUT Does it have enough power to tackle TALL WET THICK GRASS in a swamp? lets' see. It's the WORLDS only riding mower with a battery system compatible with all its power tools. so Lets see what it can handle.

    I purchased this mower and love it. I put the batteries in it and just drove it off the pallet. There is enough clearance to do so just raise the deck all the way up before you do!

    Friend of mine bought this mower with the smaller 42" deck. His wife side-swiped a t-post and cut a 1" gash in the tire sidewall in the first week on one of the back tires.
    First riding mower I've run into that had car-sized lug nuts and a 4-lug pattern rather than just riding on a shaft with bearings.

    Delivered a nice even cut, has the super tight turning ability czcams.com/users/postUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend I was looking for, and is just a blast to drive. It takes a little bit to get used to driving one after driving a normal tractor style, but once you've got it, you've got it. If you're cutting lines, you have to be careful spinning the mower around or the back tire will dig a bare spot. Just take it nice and slow during the turn and then it's back to full throttle across the yard!

    I'm very impressed with the EGO 52 inch mower. Mowing the extra tall and thick grass and popping wheelies probably had anyone from EGO who watched this video, cringing. Mowing after a rain storm was a tough stress test. EGO must have some good engineers who developed this machine.
    My wife has a 3 year old EGO trimmer and it's done nothing but work flawlessly. I wish it had their new line IQ head.
    You, in no way, babied the EGO mower and that's what make your testing videos so enjoyable.

  • @faceinthecrowd5810

    Great video!!! As a lawn mowing business owner/operator, I would like to go electric with a zero turn….but the price of a mower that can do the job is a no go. The EGO 52” seems great for a homeowner with one lawn per week to cut, not for a business. The Toro revolution Z master looks like it has the run time for daily mowing, but at north of $35k, it will never pay itself off compared to the $ 8,000 zero turns that I make a living off of. If I was a young man with 25 years of mowing in front of me, I’d consider the E mower at 30 k….maybe. But at 65 I’ll never recoup the investment.
    However….I do use the EGO spin trimmer everyday. The Ego mower is on my trailer for any 21” push mowing. The blower is a carry on my zero turn saving a trip to the truck for a quick blow off as needed. I also ride a Specialized E-MTB. So my heart is into the battery stuff, but only if it is profitable. If EGO wants to send me a 52” zero….I’ll be happy to test it in my world and tell the world!!

    i have to say.... as an enthusiast of epic storms. the footage at the beginning was awesome. and, im glad it gave you a great excuse to do a wet-stress-test of that awesome looking mower. now, that makes me think of something similar but for exploration, like a mobile chair, but to the extreme, and with the same or similar configuration as the mower, but in a 4x4 style.

  • @KC8EWU
    @KC8EWU Před 2 lety

    Stanley, you almost nailed it right on the head when you mounted up (installed) the seat. The electrical connection is for a "dead man" switch which on gas machines shuts the motor off near instantly. On that one it will shut all the motors off. I know that as I used too work at a Sears in Kentwood, MI. I was in charge of setting up riding mowers, zero turn and garden tractors. The cheapest setup for the Dead Man Switch would be blade style contacts which disable the motor. Rear engine riders would use a momentary push switch (hold down for it too work) and then on the middle too biggest machines and zero turn mowers the dead man is in the seat itself. It twist locks with a quarter too half turn on a built in mount on the seat which disables the ignition and stalls the engine. On that one it will stop the motors from running. Make sure no reset is needed in case it is triggered.

    Hey man great info
    I myself just looked at over 50 zero turns and really wanted the zero emission zero turn like this one. But unfortunately I have to big of properties to cut so I ended up with a 2022 kubota 21 hp zero turn. I wanted the most fuel efficient one I could find and this kubota I purchased is but online they say it’s absolutely horrible on gas. I can’t believe it because it cost me 13.00 to use my push mower and my zero turn on roughly 6 acres of really damp grass. This video really helps people decide on a big purchase which is awesome keep it up.

    I wanted to try an Electric mowing brand and found Ego having a little sale in Lowe’s and I got a weed eater and a leaf blower.
    I actually wanted a weed eater as the ones I have were starting to give out after a lot of years of tough work.
    I didn’t think it was gonna be good but I just wanted something for the house that was gonna be easy for my family to use without having to prime it and do all the steps to turn the god darn thing on lol.
    To say I was impressed was an understatement. It was so light weight and quiet I didn’t use earplugs for the first time and it was kinda a relief!!
    So happy with it and now I’m going to look forward to replacing all my gas powered equipment that has done it’s fair share with new and modern electric power!!
    No the electric weed eater didn’t have nearly the same power output as my gas one but it served its job for regular every day lawn maintenance.

I LOVE seeing you beat on this as I would not so much with a $5K mower. That said, my 15 year old does the lawn and drives it like she stole it. I also have a Fold-It garden cart that I put on the hitch to move stuff around. Bought the leaf collection system and doing leaves is actually fun for the first time ever. Anybody that comes to the house seems to love it and asks all about it. Overall just a fun toy that also does a bunch of stuff around the 1 acre property. I thing maybe you could test is how to CLEAN it. I'm afraid to power wash it since it's all electric. Take care, love this and your other reviews. Take care.

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts and videos. Very interesting and entertaining. You need to ask them for a wireless remote Control like what you would use for an RC car. That way you can get off the mower and drive it out when you get it stuck. Many years ago I had a John Deere F525 mower, 3 wheels, front deck, hydrostatic. Was an amazing mower, cut thru many places that I had no business being in. Had some wet areas like you have and whenever I got stuck I developed a routine to get it out since it was basically a lead weight on wheels and I had nothing to pull it out with. I would get off, push down on the seat with one hand, and start it with the other. Then release the parking break and rock it out with one hand on the hydrostatic peddle and the other pushing down on the seat. Just removing the weight of the driver often was all it took to drive it out with very little effort. Wishing you and your family the best.

    We've got both the 42" and 52" Z6. Twice so far this season, I've got our 52 stuck in "Spider Alley" (don't ask) which is mostly a swamp after a decent rain. Both times I simply tied a rope from the 52, and ran it to the 42" about 30ft away, and easily pulled it out both times. It's crazy how powerful these are with enough traction. Wonder if we could put some heavy treaded tires on these things... anyone know where I might find something like that? Great review as all ways Stan!

      Do they use different size tires than other zero turns use? I was thinking about getting one of these, But I'm not sure how long the batteries will run the mower for with all 6 batteries? Stan didn't really talk about it. But it seemed like he mowed for maybe around a couple hours at least in between filming and it had 33% left. I'm guessing it would go for at least 3 hours but not sure.

      That's why you're seeing rear tracked designs just as is true on Farm Tractors going on forever now as standard. Great question! No need to wait on a proper towing vehicle now as well given both the Ford F150 Hybrid and now both Rivian R1T and Ford Lightning for commercial use. Plus Ford Hybrid Maverick might finally be hitting the dealer lots come September in volume. Really still in the first innings of the pure BEV revolution as still all about power output and not integrated charging infrastructure with solar as Tesla has been doing going on many Years now.
      Hybrid technology hasn't even made an appearance in this market as of yet but yes, absolutely I think the Ford F150 Hybrid and Ford Maverick are going to change that *BIG TIME* hopefully as soon as next year.

It's nice that tech has advanced but it's not where it needs to be for me to even consider it. My commercial toro would of been a one pass cut with an edge pass to mulch the long stuff. Not to mention that I don't think this could handle, efficiently, row Mowing like most people do with a zero turn. You can hear and see if underperforming blowing grass away from the middle by circle path cutting....I think it would be a struggle row pattern cutting.

    Have the original weed eater and it's the best I've ever had. The auto feed one button winding is definitely a plus. Also have the 42" Z6. The thing is a tank. Can't say enough about Ego. Original push mower in it's fifth year with original battery. Still strong 💪.

    I've seen those EGO tools before and at first, I was VERY hesitant because the whole "new product before the company irons out all the kinks" thing. Now, if I gotta get a new mower, I might consider EGO given the performance of that zero turn and string trimmer.

    Love the hard tests you do that’s how you test stuff out push it brother to the limit. Ego company probably loves it too. Awesome work. Do you think there’s any benefit getting the 52 inch over the 42 besides cutting widths? More power or anything? Thank you Stanley

    I love my ego products. I beat the shite out of them, never clean then or maintain them, and 3 years later they still work like new. It's nice knowing that there's not going to be a hassle when I want to work.

    Our Hustler Raptor SD would never have cut that good. The shoot plugs with any wet grass and we have to mow with the deck all the way up and work our way down with 2-4 cuts. Even with new blades.

    • @chancesmalley6708
      @chancesmalley6708 Před 2 lety +1

      Best advice I can give you take off the grass shoot and cut the piece that goes across the opening on the bottom... I also cut a piece that I just self tapered on top of deck to make it where the blade can't hit trees or anything deck has only ever clogged on me once since! It was horrible before u literally was about to pour a line of gas to the open gas tank one day!

      @Tractorsareawesome Před 2 lety

      We had similar issues. Found out the best way to mow (if you have the time) is to mow with the shield up, blow your cuttings into the uncut grass, turn around and cut the opposite direction whatever is left. Then repeat. Yes your mowing 2x but it looks good and if you have a good spot to blow the grass to on the final cutting it’s even better.

    As much as i hate to say it, that mower actually did a pretty good job... Take off the street and lawn tires and add some mild quad tires and see how she does..
    Those 1st cuts of the year at over a foot high aint no joke.. Ive choked the blades on diesel Toros in that kinda stuff..
    1st cuts on my properties usually get a 2nd cut after a few hour dry time..
    Im digging the trimmer line technology.. pretty slick stuff..
    Come on man.. you only get one set of peepers.. the safety squint can change your life completely.. Keep up the great work there brother...
