    The fact that Steve Harris doesn't "jam" songs, goes into isolation, puts a lot of thought into writing, speaks volumes on why he's a Titan of a songwriter.
    I certainly have a good time listening to the rest of the band's stuff, but Steve Harris writes the thinking man's music.

    • @jms980
      @jms980 Před 2 lety +14

      To be honest, he's written a lot of bad songs as well. I think if he collaborated more, the songs would be better.

      I really feel that Iron Maiden suffers from any lack of Adrian and Bruce's writing input although obviously without Steve there is no Iron Maiden

    • @thewildbruce5612
      @thewildbruce5612 Před 2 lety +21

      Yeah. Steve honestly writes the best music in Maiden. Run to the Hills, Hallowed Be Thy Name, The Number of the Beast, The Trooper, Aces High, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, Fear of the Dark just to name a few are all written by Steve. And they're all masterpieces!

    • @Gregbaltzer
      @Gregbaltzer Před 2 lety +5

      @@jms980 I think history usually proves that collaborations usually make the best albums. I think that's why a lot of early albums from bands are the best stuff because they all generally live close to each other, get together and jam, and bounce ideas off each other. Later on they move apart from each other, stop jamming, and when it's time to make an album they all just show up with their songs already written, and that's when the mediocrity starts. I would never want to make an album that way.

    There’s such a deep mastery of songwriting from each member. 40 years of songwriting experience is extraordinary especially considering these are classic members. There’s not too many bands, teams or organizations that have members that stay together that long working on a common goal. This is one of the primary reasons Iron Maiden are head and shoulders above the competition. In a grander sense I would consider Maiden to be one of humanities greatest storytellers. They captured my imagination since I was 11 years old and I still feel like that same kid at 46 yrs old when I listen to them. If you twisted my arm, I would probably be end up picking Warchild, mostly because it was the first of their albums I ever bought, and it was the one that really made me look at Tull with completely different eyes. Before then, I liked Aqualung and Locomotive Breath, and that was it. After listening to Back Door Angels, Skating Away and Two Fingers, I *knew* I was going to have to go back and listen to basically everything they had put out, and so I did. :D

    What makes this a good interview are the questions . They're focused a little different . Not the usual clap trap ,some journalists seem to perpetually through out.

    His voice isn't quite what it used to be, but Maiden are still awesome and I'm sure this new album is gonna be fire.

      @@hugolafhugolaf It just sounds more strained now, like he's having to force something that used to come easier. Listen to El Dorado. Great song, but he wavers a bit on the chorus, and his voice seems like it almost breaks. I mean, he did have throat surgery, so it's not like I'm faulting him or anything; I love Maiden just as much now as ever, but he can't reach the high notes quite so easily anymore. He's still fine with the mid-range stuff, but on the higher end he sounds a little hoarse sometimes. To me, at least.

      His voice fits the songs. Thats all that matters. Keep in mind he beat throat cancer as a singer still on top. That deserves a Nobel Prize on its own! 🏅

    Dear Sir Bruce: in the current state of affairs, do you possibly have the intentions of writing another book of bodies, which would apparently make it a sequel to the first.And as for the standards of touring with COVID 19 is Rod Smallwood going to arrange the tour dates for the U.S. dates in more larger outdoor venues permitting the band to play lesser indoor venues???
