Sweet video. How many teeth does your motor sprocket have? I've heard you lose a lot of torque but gain speed when you take out the middle gears... do you still have enough low end? Have you heard of or attempted the shunt mod? They usually helps low end a lot.
How long of a ride are you getting with those kobalt batteries?
Are those 4ah batteries from kobalt right?
Great video. I have the same buggy and just bought the motor/controller combo you linked.. I already have a 48V battery pack.. Can you tell me how you shortened the chain and give more info on how you got the motor to fit? Thanks
I would suggest ordering #25 roller chain, a chain cutter, and a few master links that way you can cut it to the appropriate size.
You could also add a few washers in order to lift the motor high enough so that the original chain works.
what did you use for the battery connections on the cart? did you scavenge from drills, or is there a place to source those?
