I can't even imagine how many bad impressions I've made during my last trip. Thank you!
"like the key you use to open the door" hahaha. OMG my days back in London, how I miss it! Southwark deserves to be featured on this video! ;)
Thanks for your efforts.
You're welcome!
The most mispronounced one is definitely Leicester Square ! I'm French and it took me a while to get it right ;)
Interesting! I've never thought about splitting it like that. It makes much more sense now, thanks! :)
Leista sque isnt it? Haha
I was shocked the first time that i’ve heard “gloucester/gloucestershire/gloucester square, the same with leicester”, i was shocked, relly!
You are STUNNING
Love the way you're looking at the camera after the right pronunciaton... it seems you can see our facial expressions 😂
Native English speaker (American) and I only got Euston and Borough right. Oh, and thanks for NOT calling out the American pronunciation of “borough” as wrong, but treating it as valid in its own right.
British people and even Londoners can’t seen to pronounce Holborn correctly anymore
Thank you
Nice one but here is a challenge:
/Piccadilly CIRCUS/ vs /PICCADILLY circus/ (a specific circus)
/Hyde PARK/ vs /HYDE park/ (a specific park)
/Queens PARK / vs /QUEENS park/ (another specific park, not Hyde Park e.g.).
The latter version just sounds so much more logical and natural (1st specifying the 2nd), yet they are even mis-pronounced on the Underground tapes.
South Quay is a DLR station.
Hol up hol up hol up
Theydon bois?
Euston = Houston??
The Americans could get confused
yeahhhhh i knew the third one
Hello, it seems that you don't pronounce /ˌθeɪdən ˈbɔɪz/ but /ˌfeɪdən ˈbɔɪz/. Am I hearing right ?
A. DEBAL I've heard the th sound tho
Khadija, I listened to it once again but this time on my computer (not on my smartphone) and indeed, you're right, I've heard the th sound too. My smarphone is not that good for it is a cheap one, I think...
A. DEBAL oh I see, you have a good level of English ^^ wish you nothing but the best
It's very nice of you. Your english is good as well ! May the best reach you too.
A. DEBAL :)
Looks like Islington but it's pronounced actually as Polish Island...
What about Marylebone and Holborn xD
Leila: Marry la bone and Hol burn.
They appeared at the previous video
I said all of them but i got south quay wrong
Okay, South Quay is not a Tube station, I think it's on the London Overground. Ruislip goes for any Ruislip station, there are much harder ones than these and they may look like what you say but no one pronounces them like that.
Barney Ward
FYI: Tube = Underground
They generally mean the same thing.
they don boys?? 😂😂🤣🤣
Correct, Ryehaan.
it's Totten'ham! not tottinHAM!
it's leicester (lester) Square!
not liesester or lychester
Square!
it's trafalgar Square! not
trafaulga Square!
hotel? trivago Square?
😅
The way you did this video made it way easier to retain the wrong pronunciation then the right one. Sad. The idea for the video was good, though.
How the heck I could know such out of blue pronunciation? I think lingua franca must deal with massive incorrect n missed usage of learners. No way to mend everyone way of speaking thus even if you know how to say everything correct, you will be misunderstand by wrong pattern educated guy who ur r speaking to.
