    The most mispronounced one is definitely Leicester Square ! I'm French and it took me a while to get it right ;)

    Native English speaker (American) and I only got Euston and Borough right. Oh, and thanks for NOT calling out the American pronunciation of “borough” as wrong, but treating it as valid in its own right.

    Nice one but here is a challenge:
    /Piccadilly CIRCUS/ vs /PICCADILLY circus/ (a specific circus)
    /Hyde PARK/ vs /HYDE park/ (a specific park)
    /Queens PARK / vs /QUEENS park/ (another specific park, not Hyde Park e.g.).
    The latter version just sounds so much more logical and natural (1st specifying the 2nd), yet they are even mis-pronounced on the Underground tapes.

  • @barneyward9431
    @barneyward9431 Před 5 lety

    Okay, South Quay is not a Tube station, I think it's on the London Overground. Ruislip goes for any Ruislip station, there are much harder ones than these and they may look like what you say but no one pronounces them like that.

    The way you did this video made it way easier to retain the wrong pronunciation then the right one. Sad. The idea for the video was good, though.

    How the heck I could know such out of blue pronunciation? I think lingua franca must deal with massive incorrect n missed usage of learners. No way to mend everyone way of speaking thus even if you know how to say everything correct, you will be misunderstand by wrong pattern educated guy who ur r speaking to.
