It’s time for the R35 to hit the tarmac. We head out to Luddenham Raceway for a day of shakedowns and track tuning. We meet the car’s owner and driver - Brian while Scott gets busy with data logging and setting up the traction control, pit speed limiter and the ABS system. The R35 gets some test laps under its belt while Brian gets used to his new ride. We finally get to see how all the systems perform in the environment they were designed for.
While this is the last episode of this series we are actually planning a Q&A episode where we’ll try to answer the questions you’ve posted in the comments. So if you do need more information about a particular topic we covered in the series or any other questions about wiring, ecu setup or tuning in general - please post them in the comments section.

Scott from Haltech is the best! Nexus R5 is the top of Haltech VCU in this year, love it mate!
The tuning fork in action, what a legend....
The knowledge this man and the entire haltech crew have is amazing...
Adam lz will vouch for this...
Couldn't get the barra mustang working.
SCOTT FROM HALTECH sorted it out.
Legend👍
barra mustang?!
wot in tarnation !?!?
Oh yeah - check out Adam LZ's video: czcams.com/video/k2hbcbO0oLQ/video.html
@@haltech wow, thanks
thats pretty cool
epic mate. yall are living the dream dont ever forget.
Reminding ourselves of that every day:)
Epic build! As always. Nice work Bryan, Scott and all of Haltech.
Imagine how stoked Brian is to drive his completed vision for the first time on a real track all to himself. EPIC!
If you could go into the drive by wire throttle mapping that would be awesome, maybe even show how to integrate a rotary trim knob to alter the pedal vs throttle relationship! Thanks for the awesome series, ordering a Nexus for my next project!
Thanks for the feedback. We'll try and cover those topics in the future:)
What a great build series! The insight into how you integrated all of the sensors into a comprehensive data log was great. It’s such a luxury to have access to all of that telemetry to see exactly what is happening and tailor the response of the car to what the driver needs. Looks like the car will be quite a monster once everything gets dialed in. The success of the shakedown day is a testament to your supreme technical capability and the performance of the Haltech systems! Congratulations on such a phenomenal race car!
Boom 💥 hear that thunder... haltech ftw guys, great results its been a pleasure keeping updated with the project, thanks again let's see more of this very soon 🙌
Really enjoyed this series on the GTR. I'll never own a race car, but it's interesting as hell to see what's involved. Nice job guys 👍
Hell Yeah! Those downshifts!!!!
I've been around an r35 modified by me and owner, nothing to this standard.. But exhaust, intakes, injectors, tune and semi slicks can turn these things on !!!!
Great stuff! I'd love to see more information on how to integrate other systems via CANbus.
That pit limiter looks like needs to be on the steering wheel
Awesome series!
Awesome track, awesome data-logging capabilities, well sorted Nissan.
Excellent series - well done to all involved; seriously good level of techy stuff to keep us nerds happy!
my favorite heroes
You're awesome scott!
Oh Hal Yeah!
Great series Scotty and Dave! Really enjoyed it.
I’d be keen to learn more on how to interface the Nexus/Elite Series to factory modules (ABS, Transmission, Body, etc) vis the can system?
Love your work!
Awesome 🔥
Great vid
Best tuner on yt by a mile
With the wheel speed sensors, you were able to detect the left rear wheel was spinning. Instead of using an LSD (or spool) diff, can you use the ECU to apply the brakes, via the ABS, on that wheel? i.e. traction control?
Yay! 3rd! Last time I was this early Scotty was still wearing glasses! :P
LOL - best comment so far!
Almost forgot Scotty used to wear glasses!!!
still not used to it 😅
Obviously there was a lot of Research and Development put into creating the NEXUS R5 my question is how long was it in the works before you felt it was ready for release and when you find things that you want to change/update will it be a new unit or just a download for the existing one.
Can GPS and track position be logged too? Would be a great tool being able to correlate data from the ecu to where on the track it happens.. are we getting traction intervention out of what corner etc..
Can you share more info on the Bosch abs module?
Any plans on making different tier nexus ecus?
Also any plans on bigger digital dash to replace the analog factory dash for street/track use?
Yes and Yes:)
@@haltech thanks for the feedback can't wait to see whats in store for the future keep up the amazing job.
Warning!!! Danger to manifold
For race track application could you have tyre pressures and temperatures monitors to track that info
Yes you could with tyre pressure sensors.
Probably a simple question, can the R5 control piezoelectric common rail injectors?
Have you got any more details about the ABS system, any links or such? Would like to add it to my build...
Can you ran a heater and a/c with the nexus as well as all the other street car stuff
😍
Will Elite 2500 limit power in traction control using electronic throttle? Or are ignition cut and fuel cut the available methods?
Same track mcm just had a go at
Yep, it's Luddenham Raceway. It's a short track but very scenic and excellent for testing and drive days.
@@haltech Great go-kart track next door as well!
Man we need a video on that epic convertible r32 hiding in the background
Sweet! Wasn't expecting for this to drop today.
BTW, are there any reasons behind not using mechanical switches on the keypad? In my noob pov it would make more sense in a race car but obviously you're the ones in the know. It would be pretty neat if you could answer me that.
See yall in the next video mates. Cheers 🍻
We'll pass it onto Scott to answer in the Q&A episode.
@@haltech thanks guys, you're the best. 👍
Hi I have a Honda stream 2005 with a k20a1 engine when I turn the AC on and start going uphill the temperature gauge goes up what could be happening
question are you guys going to do your own vehicle specific dash inserts to suit your screens or is that going to be left to 3rd parties to make the solution?
At this stage we leave the specific vehicle inserts to 3rd parties. We only supply the generic inserts that you can cut to shape yourself.
Can I pull wheel speed sensors from a Teves MK60 ABS unit and use them similarly on my Elite 1500 as long as I’m running NSP software?
That sounds like a question best answered by our support team. Send them a message via www.haltech.com/support
Hey scott. How nice is it wearing normal sunglasses after getting laser eye surgery!
Like I said before you're having to much fun 😏😏😏😏😏
YES I'M JEALOUS! 😂🤣
Do a remote tuning session with LZ :D
Scotty actually did just that - on the day we shot this episode!
How did Scotty have the time to pump out this beast and tune a barra in the states 🤔 mustn't be a lot of sleep happening at haltech
We run a tight schedule here and yes Scotty's been very busy lately - and there's more to come!
When are some of these features, such as third party CAN communication integration, the keypad and so on will be brought to the elite series?
Also, why not have a single software instead of forcing Elite owners to continue to use a very outdated and slow software. Can we have the compatibility on the NSP software with Elite series ECUs in the future with an update?
NEXUS is a brand new product (a new generation) with a complete new hardware so it requires a new firmware/software. Using Elite software on the NEXUS would be very limiting as the software was designed for the Elite series hardware. Likewise making NSP backwards compatible with Elite would be very limiting because of Elite's hardware. It's the same situation with all computers, mobile phones, tablets etc. New firmware/software is designed to take advantage of the new hardware and vice-versa. Having said all that - we are working on an update for the Elite series which will include some of the new features available in the NEXUS software.
@@haltech As a programmer myself, that is just a bunch of excuses.
You already have the engine to flash the Elite firmware and the NSP software would be used as front end where you can just enable or disable features depending on capacity.
The great majority of things you can do on the NSP engine wise, you can do on an Elite, however with a incredibly slow software requiring completely outdated dependencies for the UI.
What I'm seeing is that Haltech is dedicating the great majority of their efforts on a very expensive ECU that the majority of people don't need.
This to say, that as a recent customer to Haltech (Elite 1500), the sensation I have is that the Elite will be slowly left to die, being a very very closed ecosystem I will be left stuck on an old product.
As an example, things like customizable CAN support should be already added or support for third party extension modules.
We are currently working on exactly what you've outlined - an update for the entire Elite series that will take advantage of as many NSP features as the Elite hardware will allow. This will include an updated software.
The paint job is called, Minecraft shader pack
Otherwise known as "primer"
@@haltech ooooooooooohhhhhh
Is there a playlist whew I can binge watch this series?
Spends big $$ on a R35. gets it painted by a poor blind man who's running out of paint?
It's the primer coat mate... lol 😂
