In 8th grade, she sounds like she could've played Ariel, very princess-esque. In the senior year play, she has more control, and is able to project the powerful, silky voice a villain possesses. How grand!
That’s Molly! I went to high school with her. She’s incredible and is now singing in NYC! I did legally blonde with her in high school and she got Elle as a freshman! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
You can tell the 8th grade her was doing a very good impression of the animated movie, while the senior was taking the role into her own hands. Awesome growth!
Here’s the thing, the senior performance was much more in character and fits the specific performance better. Though, the 8th grade performance was so so pretty, and has so much potential for other roles!
You can hear the CHARACTER show through in her voice. I'm sure she is still CAPABLE of that bright shimmery tone as opposed to the more throaty, spinning vibrato filled tone of a more "mature" sound.
The first one is more of a manipulative villain, rather the second is more of a villain who is absolutly OWNING being a villain and isn't really afraid to show it
I've seen this, she's amazing. Our 8th grade musical last year was Descendants, the talent of so many blew us away. I can't wait to see them grow! My daughter was Audrey :) It's on youtube!
" come on you poor unfortunate soul " i know how to sing but i'd die to be as great as her. Edit: im grateful for this likes!! Tysm i never had so much likes
it sounds like she also was more comfortable with the character her senior year. she really captured the moment of her scheming the second time. both are very beautiful either way ❤️
Got chills at the last one.. that is an amazing voice right there Edit: This came up again on my shorts feed, 2 months later, and I got chills again. Proves how in character she really is
The second one has a lot more power and it seems more in character, but the only issue is I have no idea what words shes saying. In film you can do basically whatever you want with tone but on stage like this, its important for the lyrics to actually be audible.
I think I remember seeing the OG. Before I used to like the 8th grade version more, but listening to it now, you can def hear how her singing voice has matured and the extra training of 4 years. Both have personality but they’re different. So cool!
The difference between the two performances is that in one she sings extremely well and the other the character is the one singing. She's always been a great singer, but it's beautiful to see how she grew as a performer.
Hey how funny this shows up on my shorts feed, this week is show week for me and I'm *also* in the Little Mermaid! I'm a sailor, chef, and a sea creature (my first show ever :D)
I love seeing people acting while singing. I wish i was a part too but i've grown up now and wherever i lived, there was nothing like theatre and musical
Am I the only one who prefers the voice at the start? It just sounds so pretty! While the second one fitsbthe character alot better I like the first one in general

She matured so well. It's like seeing Ursula's own villain arc. I imagine she'd be bubbly and energetic like the first clip before she turned bitter.
For a senior she actually has a good voice for a villain in a Disney movie. like wow she is very good.
Seems like she really knew the character she was playing. That really adds to the brilliance of this performance.
