For anyone trying to decide which pan size to use (the video states three 8" and the website says three 9"), I made it with two 9" pans and baked at 350F for 36 minutes.The cakes had great texture and were very light. I also made 75% of the frosting recipe and still had about a cup leftover.
I had a lot of frosting left over too! I’m just going to cut it down to making half of the frosting.
Sooooo how many 8 inches would I get?
Very weird, I ALWAYS have to add more of the ingredients so I'll have actually enough frosting, sometimes I have to even double them, never enough if I were to listen to the recipe. How can someone have _too much_ frosting by following the recipe is WAY beyond me and I do not want to understand such logic either. Such sad cakes.

Texas here - hell yes to all of this. Also, I've always thought of this as a 'white German chocolate cake' (sans chocolate). Although I suppose you could put a bit of white chocolate in it. 🤔

7:20 Just to clarify, in each pan, it's about 1 pound (454g) of batter, not 1kg (2.2 lbs). [Just in case any bakers panic if they've used scales to check the distribution of weight between the three cake pans]. The total weight of the cake batter is just about 1.4kg all up, so each pan should just about hit the 460g mark.
I think it made 7 cups of batter.... I used 3 pans and did 2 1/3 cup batter per pan and it came out about the size of his.
Thank you for this. I managed to scrape out 500 g each pan. I made this recipe twice today and each time I had the same weight, about 1500 grams total making each pan with 500 g each. As for the cream cheese, the total weight is 446 g… one stick is the 226 he’s mentioning

➡️ ⚠️ First time cake bakers ?! My husband baked me this cake. It was his first time (ever) baking a cake. We love preppy Kitchen recipes! I just wish we knew that it takes 1-2 hours to cool off a cake before icing it. We let it cool for only 20 minutes and thought it was okay to start the icing process. It was a mess. The icing was melting all over the place.
He decided to scrape off all the icing and let the cake cool off more so that the icing could set properly.
It was a fun cake to make altogether. We created great memories 💕.
But I thought it’s important to know this very crucial step before you ice the cake to avoid any frustration and/or discouragement 🥰.
It may seem common sense to cool it off longer but my husband was just excited 😊 to start icing 🧁. #beginners

I made this cake. Amazing. The hardest part of this recipe was at @4:48 because I only have one Kitchen Aid bowl and it took me a while to transfer everything to another bowl.

@@lidyaabbott8229 If you know how to use it properly, it can be a wonderful flavor to use. You don't necessarily taste the almond, but it helps to bring out other flavors. But, it CAN be a disaster when not used correctly.

Grew up & live in a city w/large Italian population, including several Italian bakeries. Never heard of this cake.Around here an "Italian Cake," is Rum cake. Moist vanilla cake soaked with rum syrup, layered with chocolate/vanilla rum custard, frosted with whipped cream.
