  • Loblaw says it’s ready to sign on to Canada’s Grocery Code of Conduct.
This comes on the heels of intense public and political scrutiny of the company, including a near three-week boycott from consumers as the grocery giant continues to rake in profits while Canadians struggle to pay for the essentials.
This code of conduct has been years in the making and was developed by food industry leaders with the goal of levelling the playing field for suppliers as well as smaller retailers across Canada.

In Alberta I go to COMMUNITY NATURAL FOODS 90% of the time ( Even Nutters is decent some times too) and the days you catch discounts you can tell it's locally owned and real people because its great. If I was in Victoria BC I would likely still just go to LIFESTYLES market.... and Ontario or of course everywhere but Ontario has more it seems... find local markets ALL SUMMER as well as if you are near a Natures Emporium go there!

Laugh about a code of conduct .. but this is a first ... Canadians don't act up easily.. a national chain just changed their mind on this during a months long boycott .. in CANADA.
We're the global butt of every quietly get long joke but Canadians spoke up enough to get the largest grocer to change ...even slightly.
    You think this stops here?

"The pressure is full on, on Walmart and Costco to do the same,” Champagne said, pointing to the federal government’s threats of passing legislation to make the code of conduct mandatory if grocers did not sign on voluntarily.
"I will tell you, it seems to me untenable for either Walmart and Costco not to join the code of conduct, because that's what the industry wants,” he said. “It's not just the government, it's not just the consumer, but that's what the industry wants."
Yes the industry "wants" it, that's why you might legislate their compliance😂
Looks like we'll have a new CCP (Canadian Communist Party)!
