  • We are running it back with a 7 days of sales video. I ended up selling 102 sports cards of mainly low end sports cards and in this video I go through how many cards I sold each day and show you which cards are selling from the store. At the end of this video, we tally everything up and see if I was able to turn a good profit from these low end sports cards... is the grind worth it?

      Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the weekly sales. Those fees can hurt especially if you are selling cards that require first class shipping whether you charge for shipping or do free shipping, the cost of shipping first class vs standard envelope really eats into the bottom line. This is the main reason why most cards I deal with are in the $20 and under range.

      Search the card and filter all the recent sold. I usually take the average of the last 5-6 sold.

    • @JoshUnboxed824
      @JoshUnboxed824  Před rokem

      Hi JR, just like the previous comment has said, I too just filter recently sold and usually take the average of what the price has been selling for. I usually try to price competitively, and I adjust my price based on the condition of my card. I also take into consideration the cost of what I originally paid for the card, although that is not as big of a factor for because I am sometimes willing to take a loss on a card if it allows me to get more bulk sales from a single buyer or gives me the opportunity to have them to continue to come back and buy more from me.
      Also, thanks for checking out my content. I am glad that you are finding value in my videos!

    • @JoshUnboxed824
      @JoshUnboxed824  Před rokem

      Thanks! I think being consistent is really key in help gaining more sales. As long as you are active and listing daily - even if it's just 5 cards a day it should make a difference. But don't neglect price point too. If your cards are priced too high, even if you list daily, it won't do good if the card doesn't sell. So not only is consistency key, but what you sell and what price you sell it, determines if sells quickly or not. But starting off with listing daily will help push your listings up.
      Also it's great that you got approved with Whatnot! People seem to be doing really well on that platform. I really haven't explored it much, but am quite intrigued by it. Keep it going and I'm sure you will do really well!

    Hey Josh great video as always! Would you say you make more sales because of free shipping? Should i offer free shipping?

    • @JoshUnboxed824
      @JoshUnboxed824  Před rokem +1

      Thanks Rand-Man, I used to charge $0.91 for shipping, but since March I went to free shipping. I feel there are pros and cons to it. With free shipping, I hope to entice buyers to buy more than one card from me which helps lower the cost of eBay fees and shipping. However, it does take away from more potential profit. When I charged $0.91 to ship it helped offset the cost of shipping (at the time $0.53) and the $0.30 ebay fee added per sales transaction. But what I do is I tack on the charge of shipping to the price which kind of offsets it. However, there you are also going against human perception in which someone may see a card that is being sold at $0.99 + $1 shipping a better buy than a card listed as $1.99 free shipping. It's the perception of the price that they see.
      To answer your question about free shipping, I don't think it's for everyone. If you plan on selling in volume, then maybe free shipping will help. But if you just only sell a few cards here and there, then charging for shipping may be the way to go. I think most people will side on the charging for shipping. For me, doing free shipping as increase my sales, but I have also taken some losses on cards that I've sold because of it.

      Like Andrew said, it does depend on what your goals are. If you plan on selling in large volume, then opening a store may help because it gives a larger amount of free listings per month. I think that is the main benefit to having an ebay store. I went with the basic store option because it gives me a good amount of free listings per month.
      In regards to the large orders - I ship those out USPS First Class as they no longer fit the criteria for standard envelope. With that large order of 40 or so cards, I shipped that out first class.

    But They slow but I’m praying to get some consistent sells I only probably sell 1 car daily how to get the consistent sells josh

    • @JoshUnboxed824
      @JoshUnboxed824  Před rokem

      When I started off, I sold roughly 1 card a day. It took time to get multiple sales per day. There are many factors that go into it:
      1. Are you listing cards daily? If so, how many are you listing daily. You don't want to grow too fast to the point where you end up not listing consistently. I started off listing only 3 cards per day and as I was able to make sales, I started to slowly increase the number I listed per day. But it is ok to just stay at a slower pace to build that level of consistency.
      2. The price point is just as important. How are you pricing your cards? I try to stay within the most recent sales, but am also not afraid to sell at a lower price just so that I can move the cards quickly and add more cards to the store. I would take loses from time to time especially on cards that don''t really move. I chalk that up to a learning experience.
      3. How much are you charging for shipping? I use the plain white envelopes and ship through eBay's Standard Shipping. I use to charge $0.53 a card, but after a few months went with free shipping. I realized that most buyers are not willing to pay $4 shipping for a card that is only worth $2.
      Hopefully this a good starting point to take a look at your process and find what works for you. Just keep staying consistent.

    • @JoshUnboxed824
      @JoshUnboxed824  Před rokem +1

      I usually go with previous sales prices from eBay. That's how I price my cards out. Most cards are pretty cheap, but eBay won't let me list a card as a buy it now for less than $1.

  • @TCGplayroom
    @TCGplayroom Před rokem +2

    I've just never done the math..
    eBay: 12.9% + $.30 per order
    Shipping: $.10 per envelope + $.60 per stamp.
    Sell a card for $2 make $.75
    Sell a card for $5 make $3.36 (not counting for time and effort)
    Are there any other fees you are running into?

    • @JoshUnboxed824
      @JoshUnboxed824  Před rokem +1

      There are other smaller fees that can occur - if the buyer is international, then ebay adds an international fee on the sale. I pay 12% fees and I save an extra 10% off those fees for being a top rated seller. It's not much, but it does add up over time. eBay's fees are calculated based on the price sold + taxes if the buyer pays sales tax + shipping (if the seller charges shipping). That's a fee that I think most people don't take into account.
      For shipping, I pay $0.57 to ship through eBay's standard envelope.
      The $0.30 per order is one of the bigger fees in my opinion especially when selling low end sports cards. It really eats into your net profit. What I try to aim for is for buyers to buy multiple cards in one single order which helps cut down the fees and cost of shipping.

    • @JoshUnboxed824
      @JoshUnboxed824  Před rokem

      I'm not quite sure how to increase the limit without having to open an ebay store. But I remember reading or hearing from someone that if you list consistently and continue to make sales, then ebay will increase your free listing limit. Not sure if it's true though. I have an eBay store subscription which allows me to have 10000 listings a month. If you are starting off slow, the best thing I can think of doing is listing cards that will sell. Listing the cards with the most value helps too, to ensure that you can get the most bang for your buck at the limited number of free listings.
      The reason why I say listing cards that will sell is because if the card doesn't sell, then it gets relisted the next month and that will take away from one of your free listings (this is based off of fixed price/buy it now though - if you listing auctions, then those cards will most likely sell.

  • @gsquared.collectibles8392

    • @JoshUnboxed824
      @JoshUnboxed824  Před rokem +1

      I use eBay Standard Envelope which I mail in a PWE. While the tracking system is somewhat flawed with eBay's standard envelope, at least it is something. In terms of return rate/item not received rate - I haven't had a return request in quite a while, probably 5 months. In terms of item not received, it's really low, probably around 1% if not less than that. I haven't had an item not received request for the last 2 months or so. They come so few and far between and with lower dollar cards, I can take the hit as I've probably made the money somewhere along the lines. When selling these lower end cards, it's all about volume for me.

      You can use variation listings on each card build like a set

    • @JoshUnboxed824
      @JoshUnboxed824  Před rokem +1

      The previous comment makes a good point. If you are selling multiple cards in a set, then you can create one listing with variations. I believe you can apply this to not just only sets, but with most cards. It creates a drop down menu for the buyer and they can select which card they want to purchase.
      However, the only thing I see that makes this difficult is the visibility of the card you are selling. Buyers will have to go through the drop down to see what cards you have rather than seeing them listed right on the search page.
      The listing fees can become cumbersome if cards you are listing are not selling because they end up relisting and that counts as one of your free listings per month. It is difficult to avoid - but one thing you can try to do is take the cards that aren't selling and try selling them in lots as a single listing. Hope this helps answer your question. Thanks!

    Do you think it’s better to list at auction or buy it now?

    • @ACD1994
      @ACD1994 Před rokem

      Buy it now. I would reserve auction for either high end cards...or vintage

      Hi Alex, I have been using Buy it Now with my listings. I haven't really explored auctions because I prefer to set a fixed price with my cards. If I were to do auctions, I would use it to sell in bulk lots of players or sets that I haven't been able to move or have been sitting in my store for some time.

    What do you start you bid price or do you set a price already

      I have doing only fixed prices/buy it now. I haven’t done auctions in a long time. I just find that fixed pricing works best for me.

    How do you offer free shipping sorry new to this

    • @JoshUnboxed824
      @JoshUnboxed824  Před rokem

      You can select the free shipping option when you make your listing on the delivery section where you select how you plan on shipping your card. There should be a button you can click to active free shipping for the listing. Hope that helps!

    How do you ship your cards?

    • @JoshUnboxed824
      @JoshUnboxed824  Před rokem

      I ship them using eBay's standard envelope with a plain white envelope. I made a video on how I ship using eBay's standard envelope. It's not 100% foolproof and it does have it's cons, but I find it works really well for me.

    Whqts your profit on a crd you sell on ebay for 2.00 and bought for $0.50? I figure ebay fees $0.25, shipping, $0.75, top loader $0.25 so profit is $0.25?

    • @JoshUnboxed824
      @JoshUnboxed824  Před rokem

      If I sell a card for $2.00 my fees end up being $0.53 (normally it's $0.23, but there is a $0.30 ebay fee added to the final sale), shipping a low end card through standard envelope is $0.57, for top loaders I pay $5 for a pack of 25 - so that makes it $0.20 per top loader. But I sometimes get a majority of my top loaders from card shows from sellers who have their cards in top loaders when I buy them. With that in mind, that would make the total profit, of $0.70.

    What was the time/travel spent for that week of card selling?

    • @JoshUnboxed824
      @JoshUnboxed824  Před rokem +1

      For sourcing - I would say I spent about 5 hours driving to a card show and spending time looking for cards. As for the drive time to drop off the cards at the Post Office, it's hard to say. There's a mailbox and Post Office near my work and I usually just go a drop them off on my lunch break, which shouldn't take more than 15 minutes a day.

      @JoshUnboxed824  Před rokem

      Hi, yes I do ship PWE. That's my main method of shipping. I will ship first class on higher dollar cards (over $20) or for those who buy a large amount of cards from me in a single order.
