Hearing this makes me so emotional. Playing and teaching my father how to play this simple game was such an adventure and so funny. Complaining why trees float and why doesn't the water spread out. That's honestly the reason I'm here, thank you so much for saying this so I can find the song easier.

While I miss C418 I think Lena is a perfect successor as a Minecraft composer, they have similar styles but Lena gives that more modern touch and suited to the current Minecraft, while C418 better reflects the older Minecraft and having both OSTs in the game is just perfect.
I agree with you. But, C418 should technically comeback because he said on an interview like one year ago that he was working on new Minecraft music

“As someone who…”
Why do people keep using this format to declare their relevance
I was playing Minecraft VR today. I was in a cave, and started digging out. I got up to dirt, and saw that it was night. I heard skeletons walking around, and was hesitant to go up to the surface, but at that exact moment Comforting Memories started playing. It made me dig out of my hole and build up to watch the stars and the moon, and as I said goodbye to that beautiful night and saw the sun rise on the other side, it really hit me.
Minecraft is the greatest game of all time.
Wow see ya in 10 years when this is a hood classic

Infinite amethyst hits so hard for me. Lena raine made a perfect blend between new and old. This soundtrack feels fresh and modern but still nostalgic and Minecraft-y. So incredibly inspiring.
I just played minecraft a few minutes ago and while mining this started. It makes my whole body feel kinda realaxed in a way
It’s amazing
It makes me feel hopeless and hopeful at the same time which is perfect for being deep underground in a massive cave. Its kind of sad sounding too like it would play in the credits to the events of disc 11 or something lol.

absolutely love "left to bloom" at 7:02 when it starts to pick up and its kind of happy but it has that deep and dark undertone so you expect it to be almost depressing then like the name suggests, it blooms into a really cheerful tune kind of like finding the light at the end of the tunnel, its hard to describe but thats how it sounds to me and i love it
Otherside is so optimistic, it makes me think of that theory that the world of minecraft is post-apocaliptic and as it gets updated nature is recovering and forgotten things are being rediscovered, it's like a new world is starting to take it's first steps.
Best comment ever, that makes a lot of sence to me.
Actually a very accurate theory imo.

“Comforting Memories”
This song really hits me right in the feels. It takes me back to the first days I bought the game and was in awe to how much there was to explore and do. Listening to this all these years later with all of the accomplishments and memories with friends, really makes me reflect man. Simple times, with a whole new world to see. I could have never have known how impactful this simple game would have on me. And to this day, every time I load up a new world, a new adventure awaits.
I feel you dude, whenever this one came on during my world I would just stop whatever I was doing and just look around. Now I don't hear it anymore because I play on 1.16.5 more often because I hate the ore generations lol
Everybody sleeping hard on “comforting memories” that bittersweet banger sits right up there with the legendary sounds that embody the vast sentimental ambience of Minecraft’s eternal freedom and solace. Nothing on this track compares. This piece is existential. No other song here makes me feel that. Few songs do that at all… masterpiece

The power of Lena Raine, (and Kumi)
it feels so bittersweet everytime
They aren't instant bangers like C418's stuff but I can kind of appreciate purer ambient pieces with no apparent theme or direction. They are very organic and free but C418's music has iconic themes that stick in my head so I prefer his stuff more. The new music disk satisfies this desire for me though, I like it a lot. Maybe I'll won't be so hard on the new music after a few listens
I think all of us veterans have some sort of underlying bias for C418 music but that’s no surprise cause of how good it is. I myself will always like C418’s music the most but oh man these tracks are also good
@@hyperbeamattack775 Very true a lot of veteran players are people who’ve played since their childhood (for example me) and it is true C418 holds more weight to us, veteran players because we quite literally grew up with his music. Back then we were 9 to 10-year-olds. Now we’re in our late teens and early twenties and the music holds a special place in our hearts and brings back all the nostalgic memories of when we were just kids. With all that said I do believe the new composer is doing a good job of respecting the feeling of the old music while also creating something of their own.
Gonna be honest, didnt rly like C418s music much. His stuff he made was Iconic, but Lena Raines music sounds way better imo.

The way that I first discovered infinite amethyst is still amazing me.
I started a new world to test out the new version, after gathering some food I went mining without armor in the caves when suddenly I got attacked and got pushed deep down in the caves. With my 3 hearts left after the fall I run to save myself to regen my life then many monsters just appears from everywhere . Then infinite amethyst starts playing at high volume in my headset... This soundtrack made me feel like I was in a movie trying fighting for my life. The monsters keep chasing me, I kill some but they are to many of them, then I finally see the light from the surface, I start building up and the soundtrack finishs when I reach the surface.
An amazing experience that I didnt feel since a while.
It was similar for me, I was experiencing the new caves and I was in a mineshaft, collecting ores. I was fighting for my life, killing creepers one by one, and this music start playing. It was beautiful.
Now thats EPIC!!

Something I notice no one talks about is “Comforting Memories” because that has to be a Minecraft player’s nostalgia incarnate. Every time I hear it, I always stop what I’m doing and just admire my Minecraft world because it always makes me think of the worlds I shared with my friends of the past - worlds I sadly cannot revisit myself. The fact that it’s called “Comforting Memories” really lays into the beautiful piano melody that is reminiscent of C418’s earlier Minecraft tracks. That song makes me tear up every time. Thank you, Kumi Tanioka and Lena Raine.

C418 can never be beat, But. . .This strikes a new point in my heart. Worries about the world, The memories of past fading into dread; It's hard to find comfort, But there is no reason to let it hurt you. Minecraft is a memory for a lot of us, Whether it be just a year or two ago when you got it, Or its been YEARS, Its still a good memory. I started out with Blockman Multiplayer personally, Which was an MCPE app for multiplayer servers if anyone remembers it. It did get a bit weird but. . .There was still a lot of good people on there who made their own memories.
Short and sweet, We all likely are feeling a bit of dread right now. I won't get into why that may be, Because we all tend to have contesting opinions, But. . .Still. I hope everyone can find their exit, Their own happiness. May life prove good for you all. Don't let anything bring you down.

Left to bloom never fails to lrave a tear in my eye
There's a strangely nostalgic feeling to Minecraft's soundtrack, there always has been. And even with the newest songs, there still is. In a way, I feel that it kind of defines the games themes.
The hollow pyramids and empty strongholds that would normally be there only to give something for the player to conquer are given a new meaning when you hear the music. These structures were once not just populated, but saturated with community. and now they're gone. Their grand achievements nothing more than loot to scrounge from the rubble. There's a reason Otherside. such a triumphic song ends with the ominous ticking of a clock.
Minecraft is a game where you can be, and do almost anything you can imagine. But in time those monuments you build will fall like the statue of Ozymandias. And one day, you too, will place your last minecraft block.
Dang now I’m sad
bruh
It's sad cause most of the time you won't even know it's your last minecraft block
lol it just played in the intro for me
This is such a beautiful perspective and is so poetic. There is a spiritual depth to Minecraft that mirrors our own lives so well I've noticed. This music..... ambiance, just makes my mind stop. For a bit. And then the feeling of peace. Peace from "myself". An emptiness that feels strangely good and bad at the same time.
AlexC, have you read the poem at the end of Minecraft in the credits? It's the most deep and beautiful part of the game that for me, totally adds to the whole feeling around the game, like it's something more. Or is it? ;) Much love
That gives me Zelda Breath Of The Wild vibes.

1:53 Oo love that piano riff, such a signature Lena Raine thing all the way from Celeste.
9:14 Love that bassoon, it comes in so steadily among the ethereal supporting parts.
10:53 Ancestry is just so cool. I never thought I'd hear an Overworld song that makes me think of the End's theme, but here we are!
19:32 Ooo and that synth is so reminiscent of Celeste as well, such nostalgia.
22:13 The piano coming in here has this beautiful crystalline feeling that steadily makes itself known, like wandering into an amethyst cave. 24:26 Omg and this drop! I think this song might be my favorite.
27:10 Again that piano riff, now feeling muffled in the background, like pushing through water.
31:07 And finally out of Lena's songs, Otherside. I've gotten a hint as her making this type of song with her original album, but this just bring it to another level. That drop is spectacular and the jazz combined with country just carries you along into a daydream. All while mimicking the original style C418 had for these music discs. 32:51 and then it goes into a bit of a minor section for the bridge, getting a bit creepy before acclerating back to the main melody (on the loop). It's something Lena's done before, but it hits so well every time, and it's never quite the same! That clock percussion too, spicy.

I opened Minecraft just to take a look with the new generation stuff when “Left to Bloom” started playing I got emotional and started crying praising the game for being you know good, I got flashbacks of playing cracked version of Minecraft because I was a kid with no money, finally I remembered the day my mom let me pick up a game of my choosing for having good grades I picked Minecraft, being able to create a Mojang account and play the official version of Minecraft felt so good, crazy thing is I’m still using the same world that I created back in 2014 so I walked around reminiscing on my achievements and blunders. Man, video games are a powerful medium no piece of fiction didn’t get me this emotional.
For me it was “Floating Dreams” that made me weep.

I can already see many of these sound tracks become as iconic as big man c418's tracks. just give it a few years.
I have listened to Lena's music for forever, loved her Celeste music. Great artist and happy to see her becoming part of one of the most influential games of all time!

Not the same deep impacting, strangely nostalgic feeling as c418's old work, but it fits as the theme for the new modern minecraft to me
Edit
comparing the two artists may actually not be smart, C418's themes were HEAVILY melody based, with themes and returning motifs while Lena's music is more ambience and subtle

Something about Infinite Amethyst sets it apart in Minecraft music, and it has quickly become my favorite track in the game.
It's not 5+ years in my life playing minecraft post 1.17 but I am already feeling the nostalgia from these songs.
the nostalgia of playing Minecraft with friends in an aternos SMP during our online classes in 10th grade, playing all we could because we knew we could not play that much often anymore after 10th grade.
I am in 12th grade now, slowly transitioning to first year college.
I cried to the old one, I cried to this one without any nostalgia, just the music was beuitiful. This music makes me realize how good my life is and how I should appreciate it.
agreed🤍
I can't help but think that track "Infinite Amethyst" was made with "0x10c" in mind.
0x10c is other Notch's game that never was released. There is enough videos about it on youtube, check it out. Really sets the mood.
Left to bloom does it for me. Every time this plays in game I just have to stop whatever I am doing and sit back and close my eyes and admire this beauty. The piano at 8:02 has me smiling and squealing all the time
I was just playing Minecraft unaware of the new soundtrack and comforting memories came on. I kid you not I teared up at the beat drop. My family has always been abusive and this song really hit different. It gives you a sense of peace and sadness. The name suits it perfectly and it’s a beautiful piece to Minecraft. As a musician, I’ve very impressed how they combined the vibe of minecraft and the modern world to make something that the newer generation would enjoy just like the minecraft veterans with the OG song. Great job mojang, you’ve really outdone yourself this time!
Man, as a Veteran player of Minecraft (2011), seeing new updates and hearing new soundtracks are a bit alien to me.
But so far, the update has been amazingly positive and great.
Hope to see new recruits of Survivalists and Creativists make it big like how the old OGs did.
i just want in 1.20 a mashup of Kumi, Lena, Daniel and Gareth, the 4 creators of MC music. I need them mixing their styles togheter
I love that last part it’s like a wonderful welcome for the future
as someone who's been playing since 2011, you mustve been under a rock because new soundtracks have been added with almost every big update.

I never had the chance on buying Minecraft until I have my own PC/Laptop.

I really like how these tracks are different from C418 music. Hearing a mix of the old gen and new gen music in game will really show how much this legendary game has accomplished.
really makes me wonder if or when minecraft will ever hit 2.0 or if it ever will reach a version 2. wherever we're headed, looking forward to the future.
I'm seeing people talk that Microsoft is partially at fault for us not getting any more of his wonderful work in the game...
I played mc when it was still in beta and stopped playing a couple years ago and i can say this soundtrack has done a wonderful job capturing the feeling of nostalgia the older songs invoke in me. Amethyst and an ordinary day are prime examples of that
Kinda unrelated to the video but,
Fun fact: the deep dark is the first major feature that the devs actually want lore attached to it.
woodland mansions are crying in the corner
what i really, really like about raine & tanioka is how much they remind me of the concept arts - especially for 1.18. minecraft, to me as a person who heavily focuses on the building side and likes to take things slow, avoid dying, etc, fits this kind of atmospheric, gentle vibe really well. most of the songs (which i can see as like overworld fishing songs, grinding for mending books the old-fashioned way) give me the sort of open-ended vibe that c418 lacked. the lack of overarching theme almost invites me to make the story myself, to build a house and enjoy the game.
there will always be a place in my heart for c418. always. but there's going to be a separate place for raine & tanioka too.
"Left to Bloom" probably had the most impact to me. That flute sound is so soothing and reminds me of old times.
Playing this game for more than a Decade, I can comfortably say that even without C418 (Im not saying this as a bad thing don't misunderstood me) we can still trust that we will get music on par of his caliber and still enjoy what we love and continue on playing with a peace of mind that the music is still in good hands.
Thanks to Lena and Kumi-san for creating such wonderful ost's.
At this point, just listening to left to bloom makes me wanna full-on cry.
can i just ask, is c418's music removed from the game? or is it still in it?
@@tryzsta It's still there, plus even if Mojang (Microsoft part) decided to remove it, it will cause a cataclysm within the Minecraft community
@@MisterHabadu thank god
I've listened to a lot of music, especially electronic/ambient music in my life, and I can surely say: Stand Tall, Left to Bloom and Infinite Amethyst are among the greatest songs of this genre I've ever heard. Left to Bloom, especially, makes me want to cry.
none of the older songs but 2 of them play now, and only comforting memories is playing constantly
Infinite Amethyst is already nostalgic, it was nostalgic the moment it came out, just something about it.
Yes bro you will feel everything in minecraft's nostalgia if not, your real life nostalgia too
Comforting memories is like a mix between “subwoofer lullaby”, Earthbound and space
If there ever was something to make me feel old, it's this.
I first joined minecraft around 2010-12, falling in love with it almost immediately. C418's soundtrack kept me engaged in the game above all else, supporting me throughout those times and overall being the "background" for many of my introductions to what would become life-long friends. In 2016-17, my PC would breakdown, resulting in me not being able to play the Java edition of Minecraft that I loved so much. My account was left, practically floating in the endless abyss that is time, myself itching for the moment that I'd be able to once more play the game I loved. Due to financial troubles, my family was barely able to afford any device to play videogames on, myself only having a faulty Xbox 360 to try to get by-- though I never could get myself into the whole console-type of playing. What was a month without playing Minecraft turned into a year, and so on. As I grew up, Minecraft began to fade to the more farther edges of my mind, though never fully disappearing. Two to three years after my PC broke, recent events caused me (along with most other people) to quarantine. With no other things to genuinely do, me and my family began to save up for a laptop, to at least provide entertainment and some opportunities. In late 2020, I'd get said laptop, though with my eyes set elsewhere, I wouldn't download minecraft. In 2021, I'd get myself a new gaming PC, originally intending to download a bunch of crappy FPS games. One day I would browse through my recommendations, clicking on a title that'd appear familiar to me. I'd hear C418's compositions for minecraft once again. I had suddenly became more energetic, practically bursting with life. Memories came back to me, a childhood that I was forced to bury once-more arising. One week from the time I am writing this comment, on what I believe to be January 9th of 2022, I'd once again redownload minecraft. Frozen by anxiety fueled by a slight fear of the past, Minecraft would remain untouched on my taskbar. Today, the day I've made this comment (Jan 16, 2022), I finally gained the strength to play Minecraft again. I watched the odd launcher in confusion, along with the loading screen. Finally, I made it to the main-menu, only to be met with an unfamiliar new music. Still in awe, I'd create a new minecraft world, loading in and admiring the minecraft skin I had made so long ago. Suddenly, the unfamiliar music returned, along with an overall unfamiliar landscape or world. I felt as I had gone from a vetetan (which wouldn't be too far off considering how rusty I was). It took me a few moments to snap out of the daze only to begin to weep, as I had came to a realization. Minecraft never really left, nor did it end and stay (as so I believed after all this time), it aged and grew up with me. It'd take me a bit to regain my senses, only to be slapped across the face by the older minecraft music (C418), which once again resulted in me breaking down.
While many have their criticisms of the new music (myself most definitely having mine), being driven understandably by a sense of duty to nostalgia, I'd also like to say this; just like how we've grown up over the years playing this beautiful game, so has the game itself. The music provided in the newer versions of minecraft serves as a reminder for how we have really grown, for better and for worse. It shows a brand new world where anything is possible, just as how childhood transitions into a confusing time of what is labelled "maturity."
The new music, above all else, made me feel like a father, staring at a grown son or daughter. I figure, perhaps, that's how my parents felt as I began to transition towards maturity. I figure that's how I'll continue to feel as life moves on. I'm glad for the journey and for the wisdom gained along.
God bless this beautiful world, god bless minecraft. More importantly, may god bless those who have grown and will continue to grow, though never forgetting the journey they had experienced in the past, rather it be minecraft or something else. For the younger ones who read this, don't take this time in your lives for granted. It'll only make up less than 20% of your lifespan, after all. Let your childhood and the memories gained throughout blossom.
Never. Ever. Forget.

The “infinite amethyst" took my heart to minecraft's nostalgia really love this music ❤️❤️
I gotta say, these soundtracks are giving me like those "nature vibes". I also love Otherside, it gets darker as it continues on. Someone came up with a theory that it's how Piglins see the "Otherside".
I think it's more of like otherside of the world. To get this music disc you need to leave the surface of your world, probably leave your home for a long time and travel very deep underground to dark and dangerous caves where you can find the "otherside". It also spawns in Strongholds, where portal to The End is located.
(I personally think it is more connected to the Deep Dark which got delayed from this update)
For those who'd like to know about why c418 hasn't made any new music since 1.13, its something about copyright, c418 wants to be able to sell the music he makes for minecraft as his own like he did with his Alpha and Beta albums and some of the higher ups at mojang and microsoft don't like that. So basically he's been fighting legal teams and lawyers and stuff like that for years now, even though he's apparently already finished a third minecraft album. Info is coming from his discord server. He wasn't given the boot, he's just not able to do anything rn. So I guess this is why we've been getting music from other people.
The good takeway here is that it's given these beautiful composers a chance to shine. Left to Bloom and Infinite Amethyst are my favorites!

Sometimes I sit in my world listening to the song and it doesn’t even seem like 5 minutes of listen and more like 20 seconds. Just makes me sit there and remember my old minecraft days. “Comforting memories” hits the most with all of this
"otherside" is so nice and hopeful, with a groovy tune that encapsulates those sunny minecraft days where you go to look for resources or just explore. What a beautiful game.
It reminds me of "Droppy likes your face" (from Volume Alpha) for some odd reason.
lena raine was great on the celeste soundtrack i have no doubt they picked a deserving artist for an amazing game
I've been playing minecraft since release and it's a little heartbreaking to listen to the new soundtrack. I grew up on C418, but as the game is evolving it's time for a new chapter. It gives me HELLA botw vibes and I'm all for it! But C418's soundtrack will always be my favorite.
I was definitely thinking the same thing about the new soundtrack being very botw esc
Yeah the ambience with occasional instruments chiming in felt a lot like BotW
I remember when C418 created Minecraft Volume Beta a lot of players hated it, but now its nearly as beloved as the original tracks of the game. I feel that its very likely that more people will warm up to these songs soon enough. Also I highly recommend looking at some more of Lena Raine's work because I feel like the ambient themes don't entirely do her justice.
Aside the space explorer vibes I get at times I think these are a lovely addition. Perhaps that feeling will wear off with familiarity...
infitent amethyst sounds like getting a hug from the person you love most, its great. never gets old.
left to bloom hits harder than my dads belt
Kumi's music, dude... Oh my god.
i like it that while lena's music is more progressive and gives that "the thing is evolving!" vibe, kumi's makes more nostalgic ones. with clear references to nostalgia and even c418 himself. like "Comforting Memories"
What a calm music that is comforting and full of memories is assimilated to? obliviously the first times in the game, when you discovered everything, and when you had those comforting moments from the past. but also the musics from daniel. they are a big reference for minecraft nostalgia. And i gotta say "Comforting Dream" is a name i wouldn't be surprise to see Daniel using.
togheter, they make a contrast that while you can't forget the past and it's memories, the good times, and the experiences you had (c418 -> kumi). you also can't get stuck in it, life goes on and keeps evolving; changing. You need to respect the Past, live the Present with enjoyment; and preparing yourself for the future (lena raine), you can't be sad cause something is gone, you have to look to the NOW and the TOMORROW as an evolution, as a sign that things changed and you still kept alive to present it. You can't be sad cause you won't go back to 2014, and you can't hate the situation now because of it. you have to think of it as an evolution. it isn't the exact same as before, but it is still the same game, the same thing, and it didn't change the base aspects that make it be what it is; so just enjoy, and wait for the future :)
