Don't make this an "older vs younger" thing. He made receivers of his generation "cry". He was a generational talent and tougher than nails.
The receivers aren't necessarily "soft".. its that the NFL is worried, that angry Twitter moms/mobs, are scared the game is to violent.

My son and I were at the Broncos vs Chargers game in 2005(Drew Brees last game as a Charger). We were sitting in the nosebleeds end zone view and I remember Lynch coming off a safety blitz from the blind side. He stripped the ball from Brees in the end zone and in the scramble for the ball Brees got hurt and the rest is history. Great memory! Congrats to John Lynch on a much deserved enshrinement into Canton.

I remember when the Bucs drafted John Lynch, Sam Wyche once stated he spoke with Bill Walsh and asked his assessment about John Lynch and Bill Walsh responded, "he hits like a freight train".

A legend and one of the reasons why I became a Bucs fan in the first place.
Sad I never got to watch a Bucs game live, but watching this man and his compatriots light it up week after week for so long livened me up plenty!
    Congratulations and well deserved, John!

Steve Atwater was better than Reed, Taylor, and maybe even Tatum. That’s hard for me to say being a Ravens fan. (Even though he was momentarily a Raven). It took him so long to get in because Denver gets overlooked for some reason. Love Lynch, too, though.

John Lynch was a proud safety who played for a proud Buc defense. I have been a Buccaneer fan for twenty-one years, more than half my life, and want to thank you, Mr. Lynch, for giving me reason to be proud of the Buccaneers team, especially the defense. Thanks to you, Derrick Brooks and Warren Sapp, the Buccaneer defense will live in glory for all time.

one of the HARDEST HITTERS of his generation. not only was he a PIVOTAL piece in the bucs only sb title at the time, but also was a terrific S in Denver later in his career. he and champ bailey formed a NASTY duo in the secondary, and was a LARGE reason why GOAT brady often STRUGGLED to play to his optimum vs broncos. congrats to a TRULY AMAZING safety 💪🙌✌
