I recently had a steam humidifier installed and I love it! I have noticed some moisture on my windows so I want to see if it is ok or if it is bad to have moisture on your windows from a whole house humidifier.
I also ask Ramon with One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning in Olathe, KS the best settings for your whole house humidifier for the winter. He explains that since every house is different you need to test and adjust the humidity that works best with your home. If you start seeing excessive moisture on your windows (more than an inch or two around the edges) it is best to adjust for less humidity. Too much moisture on your windows could damage them.

I was told by a couple different HVAC contractors to use my windows as an indicator of the proper level of humidity in the house. By doing this I have noticed that my house is a little on the dry side. It’s a juggling act with homes that’s for sure. My wife has started complaining that she has noticed some static electricity with our clothing and dry skin. So now I am debating on if we should have one installed after 16 winters in the same house. I bought a humidistat and we are about 5 percent under the magical 40% target that I see listed everywhere as the most comfortable level of humidity for a human.

does the humidifier by the furnace only work on very cold temperatures?

Didn’t hear u say that the windows could be the reason for condensation from old and leaky seals.
I would recommend an in-line 1/4” supply line water filter if your having trouble with water blockages. It will save a costly repair of the selenoid valve. Thanks

I think I have a limed up water line to our humidifier. Any basic tips on how to diagnose where the clog could be? I'll wait for this as the next video topic. :)
